Shauers, Harold Monday, 22 Jul 2002
Harold E. Shauers, 78, of Port Orchard, died July 22, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 23, 1923, in Clam Falls, Wis., to Ellis and Tillie (Noeske) Shauers.
He is survived by his wife Fern (Myrick) Shauers.
He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He fought on Omaha Beach and earned the WWII Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with bronze arrowheads.
He also worked as a pipefitter at PSNS, retiring after 29 years.
He enjoyed trout and bass fishing and trips to Reno, Nev.
He is survived by his daughters Wanda Nilsen and her husband Paul; Laura Fitzwater and her husband Richard; and, Bonnie Benson all of Port Orchard; sisters Virginia Weiler of Cour d’ Alene, Idaho and Barbara Andersen of Bremerton; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering was held at the Shauers’ home July 25.

Bland, Kathryn Friday, 19 Jul 2002
Kathryn Mae Bland, 93, a resident of Port Orchard, died July 19, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center.
She was born April 19, 1909, in Bowdle, S.D. to Clyde and Minnie (Harmer) Stuart. She was preceded in death by her husband Harmon Kelly Bland in 1997.
She attended Olympia High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Homemakers Club of Bear Creek and a charter member of the Bear Creek Community Club. She attended Harper Evangelical Free Church in Port Orchard.
She is survived by her daughters: Verna and husband Floyd Williams of Grapeview; Mary and husband Jack Washburn of Port Orchard; and Elaine and husband Robert Gilbert also of Port Orchard; four half brothers; three half sisters; and seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her sister Allene Voller.
Visitation services will be held from noon to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday July 24, and graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 25, at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard followed by a memorial service at 2pm at Harper Evangelical Free Church, Sedgwick and Wilson Creek Road in Port Orchard.

Miller, Verna Wednesday, 17 Jul 2002
Verna Virginia Miller, 70, a resident of Port Orchard, died July 17, 2002 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 15, 1931 in Broomfield, Colo., to Charles and Blanch (Bowen) Welsh. She is survived by her husband, Stanley L. Miller.
She graduated from Henderson High School in 1949, Brigham Young University and Central Michigan University. She received her bachelors in Elementary Education in 1969 and taught elementary school for 10 years before becoming an instructor in Radiation Control at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 10 years. She retired in 1989.
She enjoyed family history research and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard.
She is survived by her husband Stanley; daughters Gerilynn Bingham of Seattle, Katherine Delago of Port Orchard, Pamela Culley of Federal Way, Jan Russell of Belfair and Mary James of Port Orchard; stepdaughters Claudine Craig of Missouri, and Cheryl Fish of Texas; sister Eleanora Leavitt of Las Vegas, Nev.; and 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Port Orchard Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hoover Avenue Building. Interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Napolitana, Lewis Thursday, 11 Jul 2002
Lewis Francis Napolitana, 95, a resident of Bremerton, died July 11, 2002 at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1907, in Logans Port, Ind., to Pellgrino and Mary (Asenda) Napolitano.
His wife Mary Hoskin preceded him in death in 1976.
He graduated from Kokomo High School in Kokomo, Ind., and served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He achieved the rank of CPO.
He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Service with five battle stars and the Philippine Liberation Medals with two bronze stars. He also worked in the supply department at Puget Sound Naval Ship-yard for 20 years and retired in 1965.
He was a member of VFW 269, American Legion of Bremerton, Port Orchard Eagles, Sons of Norway and Kitsap Senior Singles Club.
He was an avid dancer and enjoyed salmon and trout fishing. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son Roy (Bea) De Boer of Port Orchard; niece Phyllis Clark of Kokomo, Ind.; uncle Frank Beatrice of Kokomo, Ind.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Joe and Tony Napolitano and sisters Martha Napolitano and Mary Delslager.
Rosary services and mass were held July 17 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment at Miller-Woodlawn cemetery.

Perelli, Myrtle Monday, 15 Jul 2002
Myrtle M. Perelli, 95, a resident of Port Orchard, died July 15, 2002.
She was born March 23, 1907, in Belfore, N.D. to George Albert and Mathilda (Haugrude) Moore. Her husband William Severson preceded her in death in 1976.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil. She retired in 1970 after 10 years.
She enjoyed ceramics, quilting and gardening and was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard.
She is survived by her sons William (Vir-ginia) Sever-son of Lake Milacs, Minn. and Luverne Severson of Port Orchard and 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons Darrell and Duane Severson.
A funeral was held July 19 at Rill Chapel followed by interment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Schoengart, Lois Tuesday, 09 Jul 2002
Lois I. Schoengart, 85, a resident of Bremerton, died July 9, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn. to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar (Mickleson) Berg-strom.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Schoengart in 1990.
She was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed playing bingo, was a former member of the Sunnyslope Community Club and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bremerton.
She is survived by her sons John (Sue) Schoengart of Bremerton and Mike (Shirley) Schoengart of Highland, Calif., and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister Grace Reiswig.
A funeral will be held at 2 pm, July 20, at Rill Chapel and interment at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Randolph, Billy Saturday, 06 Jul 2002
Billy Don Randolph, 35, of Port Orchard, died in a motorcycle accident on July 6, 2002.
He was born May 30, 1967 in Frenchcamp, Calif., to James E. and Judy L. (Vaughn) Randolph.
He lived in Port Orchard for four years and worked as a superintendent commercial construction for Donovan Brothers, Inc.
He loved hunting, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Melissa; parents Judy and James Randolph of Royal City; daughters Rachel and Audrey; brother Jimmy Randolph of Redding, Calif.; and sister Vicky Ekman of Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his son Kyle and his grandparents.
Visitation was held July 11 and funeral services were held July 12 at Stevens Funeral Chapel.
Burial followed at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens in Othello.

Buckendorf, John Monday, 01 Jul 2002
John E. Buckendorf, 35, a resident of Port Orchard, died July 1, 2002.
He was born Dec. 23, 1966 in Seattle to Jerry and Donna (Hoyt) Buckendorf.
He received his GED in 2000 and worked in a California cannery, in construction and remodeling military housing also in California, and as a brush picker.
He enjoyed fishing, making fishing lures, fishing poles and bead work.
He was a member of Pentecostal New Life Church.
He is survived by his wife Monica Ann (Geucho) Buckendorf; his mother Donna Buckendorf; sons Jacob Calderone of Port Orchard, Tyler Buckendorf of Raymond, and stepson Austin Geucho of Raymond; daughters Heather Hahn of Port Orchard and Aubrey Buckendorf of Raymond; twin brother Jerry Buckendorf of Port Orchard; sister Shellie Gainer of Quilcene; and grandmother Elaine Smith of Port Orchard.
A funeral will be held at 2 pm, July 15, 2002, at Rill Chapel. Interment at Sunset Lane Ceme-tery.

Feddock, Mary Monday, 01 Jul 2002
Mary A. Feddock, 89, a former Port Orchard resident, died July 1, 2002.
She was born Oct. 20, 1912 in Van Meter, Pa., to George and Antonia (Kesek) Tylka. She was preceded in death by her husband John Feddock, Sr. in 1998.
She graduated from high school in Van Meter, Pa., and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
She is survived by her son John George Feddock, Jr. of Port Orchard; daughters Dorothy Summerill, Antonia Huebert and Mary Breaker, all of Port Orchard and Anna McIntyre of Bremerton; and 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son John Phillip Feddock, daughter Doris Feddock and her brother George Tylka.
A graveside service and interment was held July 8 at Fraola cemetery in Port Orchard.
