Fischer, Dorothy Sunday, 30 Dec 2001
Dorothy M. Fischer, 84, of Port Orchard died Dec. 30 in Bremerton.
She was born Oct 29, 1917 in Portland, OR to Isaac and Ruby (Lytle) Thomas. Fischer owned and operated H. Tides in Port Orchard for 18 years until she retired in 1985. Her interests were crocheting, PO-VFW Auxilliary and was a member of St. Gabriels Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband Eugene Fischer, whom she married
in Reno NV, April 17, 1985, her son Bill Quinn of Port Orchard and 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel. Services were at Rill Chapel on Jan. 4 and interment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Moore, Troy Wednesday, 19 Dec 2001
Troy Moore, 98, of Sequim died Dec. 19 of heart disease.
He was born July 23, 1903 in Snoqualmie, WA to Eugene and Elizabeth Jane (Mills) Moore.
Moore married
Georgia Davis June 3, 1932 in Olympia, WA. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Following his marriage, Mr. Moore began teaching schools in Port Orchard. He became Principal and worked in Administration of the South Kitsap School District In Port Orchard where he worked for 39 years, retiring to Sequim in 1975.
Moore was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Port Orchard, the Eastern Star of Port Orchard and the Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by his sons Stanley Moore of Forks, WA, Troy Moore of Canby, OR, Wayne Moore of Soldotna, AK, his daughter Merrianne Makela of Cashmere, WA, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Drennan & Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles, Wa.
Carroll, Dorothy Wednesday, 19 Dec 2001
Dorothy Carroll, 78, of Port Orchard died Dec 19 at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
She was born February 19, 1923 in Seattle to Francis and Rose (Duffy) Behrle.
Carroll was preceded in death by her exhusband Matthew Okoniewski.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1940 and from UCLA in 1942, University of Puget Sound in 1974, Pacific Lutheran University in 1976 and Seattle University in 1980. Carroll retired as a family therapist and chemical dependency specialist in 1996.
Carroll is survived by her sons Mike Okoniewski of Philomath, OR and Steve Okoniewski of Green Bay, WI., her brothers Ernest Behrle of Seabeck, WA and Walter Behrle of Talahassee, FL, and her sister Frances Frederick of Silverdale.
Funeral arrangements were made by Pendleton Gilchrist. Services will be held at Rill Chapel Dec. 27 at 11:30 and inurnment at Sunset Lane Cemetary. Memorial donations can be made to your charity of choice.
Yates, Melony Saturday, 15 Dec 2001
Melony Jean Yates, 25, of Bremerton, died Dec. 15 at Harbor View Medical Center. Yates was born May 14, 1976 to John D. the III and Carol (Menchenton) Clark in Bremerton.
Yates Graduated from Olympic High School in 1994.
She married
John J. Yates April 24, 1996.
Survivers include her husband, John Yates, son Dakin and daughters Kaylie and Allison Nicole, brother John Clark and sister Jennifer Peters, all of Bremerton, grandparents Jeanne and Jim Menchenton of Port Orchard and Jackie Clark of Bremerton.
She was preceded in death by Jacqueline Dolores Yates and Dawson Ray Yates.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Temple in Bremerton Saturday Dec. 22. Interment location Forest Lawn Cemertary. Funeral home was Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Pizzano, Eleanor Monday, 17 Dec 2001
Eleanor P. Pizzano, 80 of Gig Harbor, WA died Dec. 17 at Manor Care.
Pizzano was born July 24, 1921 in Gloucester, MA to Robert and Annie (Pike) Lee.
She married
Carlo R. Pizzano Aug. 2, 1947 in Revere, MA.
Pizzano worked as a staff accountant for several corporations in the Boston, MA area. Her main interests were her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by Robert and Donna Pizzano of College Park, MD, Her daughters Carla Pizzano and Donna and Don Hopper, both of Port Orchard, and seven grand children and one great grand child.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carlo in 1994, her brothers Ken Robert, Jack and Frank Lee, her sisters Emily Kennedy, Rowena Holmes and Marion Lee, and her granddaughter Eleanora Pizzano.
Services were held on Dec. 20 at Rill Chapel and a graveside service was held Dec. 21 at Sunset Land Cemetary in Port Orchard. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel, Port Orchard.

Simmons, Christopher Thursday, 25 Jul 2002
Christopher R. Simmons, 21, resident of Port Orchard, died July 25, 2002.
He was born August 29, 1980 in Portland, Ore., to Darrell and Deborah (Mitchell) Simmons.
He graduated from North Mason High School in 1999 and attended Olympic College.
He worked as a housekeeper at Alpine Way Retirement Home in Shelton.
He was a member of the Spirit Force Karate Dojo in Belfair where he was a first degree black belt.
He enjoyed writing poetry. He was a Christian.
He is survived by his parents Darrell and Deborah Simmons and his fiancee Christine Read and; his sisters Virginia Ray and her husband Charles of Shelton and Leanna Branham and her husband David of Belton, Mo.; and his grandfather Ralph Mitchell of Ridgefield.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Aug. 1, at Rill Chapel and interment will be at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Vanden Bos, Peggy Thursday, 25 Jul 2002
Peggy Elaine Vanden Bos, 78, of Mesa, Ariz., died at Morton General Hospital on July 25, 2002.
She was born in Kalispell, Montana, to Lee and Ethel Bennett on July 14, 1924. She attended schools in Somers, Montana, and graduated from Flathead County High School, Kalispell in 1942. She then graduated from the nursing program at Olympic Community College in Bremerton.
On February 26, 1942, Peggy married
Garrett (Van) Vanden Bos in Kalispell.
Living most of her life in Port Orchard, she worked in the nursing field and as a mother and homemaker.
She and her husband owned Van’s Credit Jewelry in Port Orchard for nearly 40 years. Several summers you would find them as camp hosts at various parks in Washington.
Most recently she lived in Mesa, Ariz., and summered in Morton.
Survivors include her husband, Garrett; daughter, Patsy and her husband Bob Collins of Morton; two sons, Jerry and his wife Paula Vanden Bos, of Soap Lake; Roger and his wife Sue Vanden Bos, of Port Orchard, WA; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at 2 p.m., at the First Church of God in Morton and also on Thursday, Aug. 1, 1 p.m., at the South Park Assembly of God in Port Orchard.
Benavidez, Daniel Monday, 22 Jul 2002
Daniel B. Benavidez, 27, a Port Orchard resident, died July 22, 2002.
He was born Dec. 6, 1974 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jose and Irma (Delgado) Benavidez.
He is survived by his wife Amanda (Newman) Benavidez.
He attended South Kitsap High School and worked as a plumber. He enjoyed working on and driving cars and was a black belt of Spirit Force Karate.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Amanda; son Quincy Benavidez; daughter Keiara Benavidez; brother Enrique Benavidez of Bremerton; sisters Dorothy Benavidez of Escondido, Calif., Thelma Day of Port Orchard and Hope Benavidez of Bremerton; grandfather Daniel Benavidez of Corpus Christi, Texas; and godparents Dora and Ed Cantu of Port Orchard.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Juanita Delgado and Alicia Benavidez and his grandfather Candelario Delgado.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Services will be at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Monday, July 29 at 3 p.m.
Interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Christerson, Rose Saturday, 20 Jul 2002
Rose Christerson, 92, of Port Orchard, died July 20, 2002 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 1, 1910, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Meyer and Ida (Harris) Elkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy W. Christerson in 1984.
She owned and operated her own barber shop on Beth-el Road for 75 years, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Bethel Grange.
She is survived by her sons Stan Christerson of Ocean Shores and Jim “Roy” Christerson of Port Orchard; daughter Jeanette Christerson of Seattle; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Montie Elkins, Nathan Elkins, Morse Elkins and Louise Elkins.
A funeral service was held July 25 at Rill Chapel and interment followed at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
