Halbig, Marion Thursday, 12 Apr 2007
Marion Berling Halbig, of Port Orchard, died on April 12 in Silverton, Ore.
She was 101.
She was born July 14, 1905, in Port Orchard to John and Anna Berling.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1923 and went on to attend the University of Washington, the University of Alabama and Idaho State College.
She worked in the Comptroller Department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an administrative superintendent.
She was a member of First Christian Church, the P.E.O Sisterhood, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, the American Guild of Or-ganists, Sons of Norway, Ann Wilson Guild, NARFE, the American Assicaiotn of Retired Persons, South Kitsap Active Senior Citizens Club and the University of Washington Alumni Association.
She is survived by daughter Mariel Martin of Silverton, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Curtis Macomber (1949) and Virgil Halbig (1978); brothers Albin and Charles Berling; and sister Charlotte Mailman.
A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 18 at First Christian Church in Port Orchard followed by interment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
Viewing will be 9 to 11 a.m. on April 18 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
Caldwell, Marian Thursday, 12 Apr 2007
Marian Kay Caldwell died on April 12, 2007.
She was 61, and was born on Jan. 10, 1946.
A chef for 20 years, she enjoyed fishing, camping, crabbing and the ocean.
She is survived by parents Earl Mahaffy of California and Alice Hanna of Port Orchard; children Gerald and Mike of California and Gary, Larry, Heather and Jennifer, all of Port Orchard; sisters Faye Evans and Barbara Jean Webber; brothers Craig and Brian Mahaffy and Todd Hanna; and 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Hank Caldwell.
A graveside service was held on April 16 at Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor.
Morrow, Albert Tuesday, 10 Apr 2007
Albert Donald Morrow, of Port Orchard, died on April 10, 2007 at Life Care Center of Port Orchard.
He was 77.
He was born on May 25, 1929, in Bremerton, to William and Frances (Wood) Morrow.
He attended Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale.
He married
his first wife Claire and they had two sons. He then married
Christine MacSwan on March 17, 1972 in Tacoma. Christine died in 1984.
Albert served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and in the Air Force from 1957 to 1965.
He also worked as a house painter and welder.
He loved music, reading, playing the drums, history and watching the news.
He belonged to the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include sons John Albert (and wife Dawn) Morrow, of Key Center, and William (and wife Debbie) Morrow, of Port Orchard; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on April 20 at 2 p.m. at Sedgwick cemetery in Port Orchard.
Dean, Lois Tuesday, 10 Apr 2007
Lois Ann Miller Blowers Dean, of Shoreline, died on April 10, 2007, at home.
She was 79.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1928, in Bismark, S.D., to Edward and Dora Miller.
She worked at the Washington State Veterans Home at Retsil.
She enjoyed poetry and music.
She is survived by husband Gilbert Dean; sons Steven Blowers and Mark Dean; daughters Patricia Ebbert, Constance Anderson, Sandra Doucette and Debera Potestivo; brithers Terry, Stanley and Richard Miller; and sisters Verna. Ardis, Donna, Jeannie, Colette, Darlene, Lorna, Jo Ann and Nancy.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 17 at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, 1578 Lider Road SE, in Port Orchard.
Vandeberg, Glen Tuesday, 10 Apr 2007
Glen B. Vandeberg, of Port Orchard, died on March 31, 2007, at home.
He was 77.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1929, in Froid, Mont., to James and Bernice (Smith) Vandeberg.
She attended Bainville (Mont.) High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1951.
He was a lineman for Puget Power for 35 years until his retirement in 1993.
He enjoyed traveling in his fifth wheel.
He is survived by son Greg (and wife Kristy) Vandeberg of Port Orchard; daughters Kari (and husband Jim) Tinsley of Federal Way, Paula (and husband Roger) Trunzo of Tacoma, and Jan (and husband Dennis) Sennert of Puyallup; brother Denny (and wife Teresa) Vandeberg of Canada; sisters Joy (and husband Murel) Nes-seth of Port Orchard, and Deeannn (and hus-band Arlen) Larsen of Port Or-chard; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. on April 7 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Tacoma.

Snider, Ethel Thursday, 05 Apr 2007
Ethel LaVelle Snider, of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on April 5, 2007.
She was 88.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1919, in Kokomo, Ind., to Denny Lee Miller Sr. and Effie Brock.
She married
Bert M. Snider, Jr., on Dec. 3, 1949, in Santa Ana, Calif.
She retired as a retail manager for the Navy Exchange System.
She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie 2338, in Port Orchard.
She was a world traveler, visiting places like Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
She enjoyed cooking and macramé, knitting and needlepoint.
She is survived by son Jerry (and wife Martha) Warnock of Olympia; and three grandchildren and five great-granchildren.
She was preceded in death by great-grandson Justin, who was killed in Iraq in 2006.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 16 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
Meigs, Max Thursday, 05 Apr 2007
Max E. Meigs, of Port Orchard, died on April 5, 2007, at home.
He was 74.
He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Fredonia, Kansas, to Clifford and Ida (Yates) Meigs.
He served as fire chief in Bremerton, retiring in 1979.
He enjoyed cooking, eating apple pies and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mary Meigs, of Port Orchard; sons David (and wife Darla) Meigs of Seabeck, Dan Meigs of Ariz., and Gavin Meigs of Port Orchard; daughters Cindy Landry of Manchester, Tamara (and husband Mike) Harlow of Silverdale, LaDona (and husband Steve) Harmon of Seabeck, Nellianna Anthony of Louisiana, Sara Meigs of Poulsbo and Alyssa and Meghan Meigs, both of Port Orchard; sisters Euphemia Knox, Freda Spain, Phyllis (and husband Art) Cook, all of Port Orchard, and Mabel Rainey of Bothell; brothers Chester (and wife Gladys) Meigs, and Kenneth and Clifford Meigs, all of Bremerton, and Charles (and wife Dena) Meigs of Belfair; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Max Meigs and brothers Clifford Meigs Jr. and Bill Meigs.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 23 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.

Collins, Arthur Wednesday, 18 Aug 2004
Arthur W. Collins, 59, died Aug. 18, 2004, at the Retsil Veterans Home.
He was 59.
He was born Nov. 17, 1944, in Tacoma to Bernice and the late Everett Collins.
He worked for the Department of Defense at the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Bremerton before retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed collecting coins.
He is survived by his mother, and a daughter, Elizabeth Collins of Shelton.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane.
A service was held Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Veterans Home.
