Hanson, Mildred Monday, 30 Aug 2004
Mildred C. Bloom Hanson, of Port Orchard, died on Aug. 30, 2004.
She was 84.
She was born on May 18, 1920, in Plaza, N.D., to John and Elena Bloom.
She married
Herbert Hanson in Willston, N.D., in 1940, and they moved to Port Orchard a year later.
She attended school in Alamo, N.D.
She was employed at Myhre’s Restaurant in Port Orchard for 60 years, where she served as supervisaor and managed the Terrace Room. She retired at the age of 80.
She is survived by brother-in-law Donald Malcomb, sister-in-law Dora Bloom, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; sisters Judythe Scarr and Lillian Malcomb; and brothers LeRoy Bloom and Edgar Bloom.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 3, at Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor.
Eckblom, Myrtle Friday, 30 Jul 2004
Myrtle J. Eckblom died July 30, 2004, in Bellevue.
She was born in Harper to Josephine and Otto Eckblom, founding members of the Harper Evangelical Free Church.
She attended West Seattle High School and business schools in Seattle and Oakland, Calif., before beginning a 20-year career as a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State.
As a personnel officer, she completed tours of duty at U.S. embassies in Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Saigon, Santiago, Ghana and Mexico City.
Following her retirement in 1974, she returned to Washington, D.C., at the request of the State Department to serve an additional year.
She then retired to Palm Desert, Calif., where she lived many years before returning to the Pacific Northwest.
She is survived by sisters Emma Keyes of Edmonds and Lilly Geddie of Durham, N.C.; an aunt, Pearl Nelson, of Seattle; nieces Karen Rasmussen, of Grand Junction, Colo., Joann Harris, of Greeley, Colo., Janet Scott, of Durham, N.C., Donna Pallo-Perez, of Olympia; and nephew David Keyes Jr. of Bellevue.
Anderson, Dewey Saturday, 28 Aug 2004
Dewey P. Anderson, of Port Orchard, died on Aug. 28, 2004, at home.
He was 81.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1922, in Eastside, Ore., to Dewey and Jean (McHale) Anderson.
He graduated from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay, Ore., in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a long-haul tracker for 20 years before retiring in 1965.
He is survived by daughter Mary Ann Potts (and husband Daniel) of Port Orchard; and grandchildren Darcy Potts of Alaska, Joan Potts of North Dakota and John Potts of Florida.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Darla Potts in 1981.
There will be a private funeral followed by interment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Coos Bay, Ore.

Lemon, Charles Thursday, 26 Aug 2004
Charles A. Lemon, 94, of Port Orchard, passed away on Aug. 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1910, in Richwood, Minn., to Wilbur and Louie (Farnworth) Lemon.
He married
Alvina Solum on July 18, 1940, in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
He was a carpenter/machinist in the Carpenters Local 1597 for 50 years before retiring in 1980.
He loved to work and help others, as well as being part of a Christian non-denominational group that met in the home.
He is survived by his wife, Alvina, of Port Orchard; sons Wilbur Lemon of Port Orchard and Ervin Lemon of Renton; daughters Lois and Linda Lemon also of Port Orchard; four brothers and one sister; 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters and son, James Lemon.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 31, followed by burial at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

L. Christine Rasmason, of Gig Harbor, died on Aug. 20, 2004, at home. She was 81.
She was born on May 1, 1923, in Canada, to Harold and Bertha (Dewees) Campbell.
She married
Donald Rasmason in Annapolis, Calif.; he preceded her in death in 2002.
She graduated from high school in San Diego, Calif., and, after working as a welder in the San Diego shipyards during World War II, was a homemaker.
She enjoyed bowing, line dancing and RV traveling.
She is survived by daughters Fae Smith, of Olalla, Renea Smith, of Olalla, and Gail Honeysuckle, of Gig Harbor; brother Phillip Campbell of Annapolis, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Donald Campbell.
Funeral arrangements were not disclosed.
Snively, Virgil Tuesday, 07 Oct 2003
Virgil Howard Snively, 73, a resident of Silverdale, died Oct. 7, 2003, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1930, in Brush, Colo., to Oral and Myra (Beatty) Snively.
He Married Genney Ziesing on Nov. 26, 1950 in Portland, Ore.
She preceded him in death in 2001.
He graduated from Benson Poly-Tech High School in Portland in 1948.
He served in the Korean war as a private first-class in the Army.
He was a machinist at Keyport, he had worked as a nurses’ aide for the Veterans Administration in Portland for 10 years, then as a paper carrier in Jefferson County for five years, a volunteer at Group Health in Silverdale and a courtesy clerk for the Safeway store in Silverdale.
He was a member of the Machinist Union, United Food Commercial Workers Union, and the American Legion.
He had been a Cub Scout leader, a coach and a referee for soccer.
He is survived by his daughter Karen and her companion Bob Dickinson Titterness of Seabeck; sons Tim Snively and his wife Traci of Port Orchard and Eric Snively of Silverdale; and grandchildren Talena, Toni, Peter, Amanda, Justin, Shaun, Brian and Candi; and 9 great-grandchildren.
His son Terry preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. at Christian Life Center on Saturday Oct. 11, 2003.
Cremation was performed by Cherry Grove Crematory.
Arrangements were handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Frogge, Robert Monday, 06 Oct 2003
Port Orchard resident Robert D. Frogge died Oct. 6 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton.
He was 61.
He was born August 18, 1942, in Medford, Ore., to Robert and Adel (Scott) Frogge.
He married
Fe G. Apelado on March 7, 1969, in the Philippines.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1986 as a supply chief before retiring.
He then worked as a material handler at Subase Bangor for 16 years.
He enjoyed wood carving, fishing and camping. He was also an amateur beer brewer.
He is survived by his wife; son Richard Frogge of Bremerton; daughter Theresa and husband Rodney Mendiola of Port Orchard; brother Michael Frogge and wife Mary of Puyallup; and five grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Oct. 18 a 2 p.m. at Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
McCorkle, William Saturday, 04 Oct 2003
William John McCorkle, 54, a resident of Longbranch, died Oct. 4, 2003.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1949, in Olympia to James Flemming and Lillian (Clubb) McCorkle.
He attended schools in Longbranch and Peninsula High School.
He was a carpenter.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, the outdoors and cars. He was a protestant.
He is survived by his mother Lillian McCorkle of Longbranch; son William J. McCorkle of Port Orchard; daughters Theresa Lynn McCorkle of Port Orchard and Tammy Marie McCorkle of Bremerton; sisters Kathy Patterson and her husband Art of Longbranch and Sally Adams of Red Oak, Iowa; and grandchildren Rory, Myranda, Kexshera, Trystin, Joshua and Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother Calvin McCorkle.
A celebration of life was held at the Lewis Funeral Chapel on Oct. 10, 2003, and burial was at Forest Lawn cemetery.
