Millard, James Friday, 10 Oct 2003
James S. “Jim” Millard, 90, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 10, 2003.
He was born On Oct. 5, 1913, in Sparta, Wisc., to Charles and Belle (Lanham) Millard. He married
Roseann Fischer on Sept. 11, 1937, in Boardman, Iowa.
She preceded him in death in 1990.
He graduated from school in Sparta, Wisc. He worked as a milk and delivery man for Arden Farms for 25 years and retired in 1975, then he worked as a real estate broker for Realty Word for 22 years until he let his license expire in 1997.
He was former Mayor of Old Forest City; past president of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Vincent Conference; St. Gabriel Church BSA Silver Beaver and St. George Awards; past faithful Navigator of Bremerton Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; Past Assistant Commissioner of Chief Seattle BSA; past District Commander of Olympic Area Council BSA. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his sons Larry Millard and his wife Karen of California City, Calif. and Jim C. Millard and his wife Bonnie of Port Orchard; daughters Ruthann Barney and her husband Joe of Little Rock, Calif. and Agnes Wilson of Newport News, Va.; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Oct. 14 at Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center and a funeral was held on Oct. 15, followed by interment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
Cantu, Ed Tuesday, 27 Feb 2007
Edelemiro T. Cantu, of Port Orchard, died on Feb, 27, 2007, in Bremerton.
He was 75.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Matamoros, Mexico, to Salvador and Antonia (Gomes) Cantu.
He married
Dora Carranza on April 30, 1960, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Corpus Christi and worked as a sheet metal mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years before retirement in 1991.
He had previously worked as a heating and air conditioning installer in California and also worked as a taxi cab driver.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard and a former choir member and eucharistic minister.
He enjoyed working in the yard and planting flowers.
He is survived by wife Dora Cantu of Port Orchard; sons Jesse (and wife Megan Villobos, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Eddy Cantu of Port Orchard; daughters Bernadette (and husband Gerry) Hoffman of Port Orchard; Veronica Garrison of Menominee, Mich., and Kandyce Moore of Cheney; and brothers Merardo (and wife Mary) Cantu and Robert (and Celia) Cantu, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; and 11 grandchildren and two great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Salvador and Jose Cantu and sister Modesta Reyes.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. on March 7 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Huebert, Henry Monday, 26 Feb 2007
Henry Heubert Jr., of Port Orchard, died on Feb. 26, 2007, at home.
He was 67.
He was born on May 18, 1939, in Denver, Colo., to Henry and Anna (Huhn) Huebert.
He married
Antonia Feddock on July 16, 1960, in Port Orchard.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1957 and worked as a comptroller at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 35 years until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by wife Toni Huebert, of Port Orchard; sons David (and wife Mary) Huebert, of Clatskanie, Ore., Jonathan (and wife Debbie) Huebert, of Silverdale, and Michael Huebert of Port Orchard; daughter Susan (and wife John) Knox, of Newman Lake; brother Robert (and wife Dianne) Huebert of Port Orchard; sister Kathy (and husband Arnie) Sandness, of Rangell, Alaska; and four grandchidren.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 p.m. on March 5 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, followed by burial at Fraola Memetery in Olalla at 2:30 p.m.
Brown, Barbara Sunday, 25 Feb 2007
Barbara M. Brown, of Nett Lake, Minn., died on Feb. 25, 2007.
She was 56.
She was born on June 19, 1950, Cook, Minn., to Ira and Ruth (Connor) Isham.
She married
Chandler “Chip” Brown on Sept. 18, 1974, in Alameda, Calif.
She attended high school in Orr, Minn., and graduated from Olympic College.
She worked as a nurse’s aide for 15 years at the Washington State Veteran’s Home at Retsil.
She was a member of the South Kitsap Indian Parent Committee.
She enjoyed playing softball and visiting casinos.
She is survived by mother Ruth Isham, of Nett Lake, Minn.; sons Francis (and wife Carolyn) Littlewolf, Jr., of Nett Lake, Minn., William D. “Donovan” Littlewolf of Port Orchard, Steven (and wife Kara) Littlewolf, of Port Orchard, and Mark (and wife Merrilee) Littlewolf, of Nett Lake, Minn.; brothers Jeff Isham of Nett Lake, Minn. and Loren “Haw” (and wife Diane) Connor of Nett Lake, Minn.; sisters Frances “Cisco” Isham of Nett Lake, Minn., and Christine (and husband Alvin) Sadewasser, of Port Orchard; and 18 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister Gloria Isham and brother Bruce Isham.
A funeral mass was held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on March 6.
Delaney, Glory Sunday, 25 Feb 2007
Glory E. Delaney, of Port Orchard, died on Feb. 25, 2007, at home.
She was 61.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisc.
She married
Fred Delaney Jr. on April 15, 1967, in Level Plains, Ala.
She graduated from high school in Milwaukee in 1963 and attended Pierce College in Tacoma.
She owned and operated three beauty salons in Kitsap County for 25 years.
She was a member of the Tacoma Weavers Guild, she was a Girl Scout leader and attended St. Gabriels and St. Nicholas Catholic Churches.
She enjoyed crafts and animals.
She is survived by husband Fred Delaney Jr., of Port Orchard; son Fred Delaney III, of Fort Drum, N.Y.; daughters Theresa Louise Delaney of Seattle and Heather Layne Delaney of Port Orchard; brothers Thomas (and wife Mona) Evans of California and Richard Evans of Florida; and sister Christine (and husband Michael) Frankowski of Madison, Wisc.
She was preceded in death by sister Patricia Alexander.
A funeral mass was held on March 2 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard, followed by burial at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.

Foote, Rhoda Saturday, 24 Feb 2007
Rhoda Iden (Kelly) Foote, died on Feb. 24, 2007, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
She was 90.
Born in Beemer, Neb., on April 20, 1916, she graduated from Beemer High School and Dana College.
In the 1940s, she married
Kenneth Lee Foote.
Along with her husband, she operated a lumber mill for several years during the 1950s in Crescent City, Calif., before moving to Santa Cruz, Calif.
She and her husband later lived in Florida until divorcing in 1972.
She then worked as a lead cashier with a local liquor store chain for a number of years until moving to Port Orchard in 1978 to live with her daughter Su and her husband.
She enjoyed animals, needlepoint and other crafts, as well as gardening, and raised numerous varieties of roses.
She is survived by son Kenneth Lee Foote II of Davenport, Iowa, and his wife Paggy Damos; sister Huerta, of Rapid City, S.D.; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Lee Foote (Lachelt) of Juneau, Alaska.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held March 11, from 2 to 4 p.m., at her home, 1011 S.E. Puget Heights Lane, and friends are encouraged to attend.
Remembrances can be made to the Kitsap County Humane Society.
Brooks, Charles Wednesday, 21 Feb 2007
Charles Erskine Brooks, of Port Orchard, died on Feb. 21, 2007, at home.
He was 67.
He was born on April 16, 1939, in Trinidad, Texas, to Russell and Lois (Penn) Brooks.
He graduated from high school in Waco, Texas, in 1957, and from denta school at the University of Texas in 1968. He did post-doctoral work at the University of Washington.
He was a dentist in Seattle and, for the past 30 years in Port Orchard.
He enjoyed assembling air guns from part he obtained on the Internet; he also enjoyed cars and making jewelry.
He is survived by son David Brooks of Albuquerque, N.M.; and sister Dorothy (and husband Leonard) Diana, of Arlington, Texas.
A memorial service was held at the High Tide Tavern in Port Orchard on March 1.
Miller, Edwin Thursday, 15 Feb 2007
Edwin Miller, of Glendale, Ariz., and formerly of Port Orchard, died on Feb. 15, 2007.
He was 66.
He was born in Aberdeen on Feb. 21, 1940, to Joseph and Lillie Miller.
He was a rigger and retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He belonged to the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter B, and the Bremerton Yacht Club.
He enjoyed traveling, boating, motorcycling and carving.
He is survived by wife Sharon Miller, of Glendale, Ariz.; son Joe and daughter Lorinda; sisters Josephine (and husband Jim) Moe, and Jeanette (and husband Howard) Vining; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held in Arizona on Feb. 19.
