Gudrun Silva, of Port Orchard, died on Jan. 18, 2005, at home.
She was 90.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1914, in Tacoma.
She married
Oscar Ramsey in 1960.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1932 and worked as a “corsetier” for Bremerton Department Store for 10 years, and later as a homemaker.
She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, sewing, dancing and following the Mariners.
She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by son Larry (and wife Beverly) Ramsey of Chehalis; daughter Myrna (and husband Butch) Ashby, of Port Orchard; brother Lloyd Reite of Port Orchard; sister Ella Anderson of Port Orchard; and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were not announced.
Merrifield, Archibald Wednesday, 19 Jan 2005
Archibald Merrifield died on Jan. 19, 2005, in Port Orchard. He was 89.
He was born in Hanna, S.D., on April 4, 1915, to Archibald V. and Hilda M. Merrifield.
He was married
for almost 64 years to Mary Elizabeth (Bage) Merrifield.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Merrifield, of Port Orchard; sister, Marjorie M. Bray, of Gig Harbor; sons Jack (and wife Loralee) Merrifield, of Bremerton, and Douglas Merrifield, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Reginald A. Merrifield.
Memorial services will be held at the Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor on Jan. 26, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the John Paul Jones Masonic Scholarship Fund, PO Box 271, Gig Harbor, WA 98335.
Turner, Robert Wednesday, 12 Jan 2005
Robert M. Turner, of Port Orchard, died on Jan. 12, 2005, at home.
He was 73.
He was born on March 22, 1931, in Albany, N.Y., to Lawrence L. and Mary (Nutting) Turner.
He married
Yvonne Whitman on May 18, 1957, in Stockton, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a lighthouse keeper from 1948 to 1952 and later operated his own landscaping business.
He was a Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Turner, of Port Orchard; son Tom Turner (and wife Lisa) of Port Angeles; daughter Linda (and husband John) McCarty of Port Angeles; brother Lawrence L. Turner, of Castro Valley Calif., Gary A. (and wife Lyn) Turner of Hilton Head Island, S.C., David C. Turner, of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Darrel (and wife Ilene) Pearcy of Granite Falls; sisters Diane Pearcy, of Everett, and Gay Hakola-Maloney of Mountain Ranch, Calif.; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Louis F. Turner.
He will be remembered at a memorial service at 2 p.m., Jan. 22, at the Washington State Veteran’s Home at Retsil.

Herrick, William Thursday, 15 Dec 2005
Former Port Orchard business owner William Jay Herrick, of North Richland Hills, Texas, died Dec. 15 in Los Angeles.
He was 67.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1937, in Hoquiam and grew up in Bozeman, Mont.
On May 25, 1958, he married
Rayna St. Clair of Morton at the First Baptist Church in Tacoma.
After completing his service in the U.S. Navy, he and his wife raised their children in Washington state, living in Morton and Port Orchard.
He owned and operated Herrick Auto Parts in Port Orchard, the first NAPA store here.
He participated in the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Mounted Patrol, the chambers of commerce in Morton and Port Orchard and in many other civic and social activities.
At the time of his death, he was an international sales manager with Ready-Aire, Inc., a subsidiary of Transpro.
The Herricks moved to Southlake, Texas, in 1997 and had just completed a new home in North Richland Hills, Texas.
He is survived by his his wife; sons Mark Herrick of Port Orchard and Jon Herrick of North Richland Hills; daughter Lisa Herrick, a student at the University of Oklahoma; three granddaughters and a great-grandson, all of North Richland Hills.
A funeral service was held Dec. 22 at the Chapel of Lucas and Thompson Funeral Directors in Grapevine, Texas.
He was buried at Lonesome Dove cemetery in Southlake.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Gallagher, Alice Tuesday, 11 Jan 2005
Alice W. Gallagher, of Port Orchard, died on Jan. 11, 2005.
She was 83.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1922, in Lafayette, Wisc.
She and her husband Gordon Gallagher moved to Seattle in 1942 and settled in Port Orchard in 1949.
She enjoyed gardening, cats and spending time with friends at the Burley Community Center.
She attended King of Glory Lutheran Church.
She is survived by daughter Ellen (and husband Aldon) Burlison, of Los Molinos, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and was expecting her first great, great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Gordon Gallagher, and son Michael Gallagher.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 16 at Haven of Rest Memorial Chapel in Gig Harbor. A funeral service will follow on Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. with graveside service to follow at Haven of Rest.

Leonard, Betty Thursday, 06 Jan 2005
Betty L. Leonard, a Port Orchard resident, died Jan. 6. 2005, at Tacoma General Hospital.
She was 75.
She was born on May 13, 1929, in Thief River Falls, Minn. to George and Lorraine (Strom) Johnson.
She married
Robert Leonard on Sept. 1, 1959, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She worked as a waitress and cook at several restaurants in Bremerton and Port Orchard.
She then worked as a painter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 10 years, retiring in 1976.
She loved to cook, garden, hunt and fish, and owned racehorses.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Leonard, of Port Orchard; sons Lanny Thompson of Port Orchard and Timothy Thompson of Bremerton; daughter JoSan Pritchard of Mont.; sister Eloise Gerhart of Olympia; and 10 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James L. Thompson, in 1970.
A memorial was held Tuesday, Jan. 11. Arrangements were handled by Rill Chapel.
Vagran, Robert Saturday, 08 Jan 2005
Robert LaVell Vagran, of Manchester, died on Jan. 8, 2005, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. He was 78.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lavon Hay and raised by his grandmother, Priscilla Hay.
He married
Molly Wisemantle on Sept. 14, 1953.
He served 22 years in the U.S. Navy, retring as a chief petty officer in 1968. He then spent the next 20 years working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard before retiring in the late 1980s.
He is survived by his wife, Molly Vagran, of Manchester; sons Robert Vagran, of Gig Harbor, and Scott Vagran, of Manchester; daughter Sara (and husband Raymond) Hitt, of Gig Harbor; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was buried at Rose City cemetery in Portland, Ore.
Parker, Roy Sunday, 18 Dec 2005
Roy Dean Parker, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 18, 2004, at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center.
He was 85.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1919, in Conroe, texas, to Naomi (Mixon) and O.A. Parker.
He married
Violet Samples on Jan. 31, 1951.
He worked as a farmer, rancher and oil field worker during the Texas oil boom, and later worked with the sanitation department in Trinity, Texas.
He is survived by daughter Tida Jo Ann (and husband Mike) Oeters, of Port Orchard; step-son Don (and wife Angela) Barfield of Summerville, S.C.; step-daughter Donna (and husband Tommy) McDonald, of Constantine, Mich.; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He loved country music and dancing, John Wayne movies and WWF wrestling.
Burial was at the Allphin cemetery in Midway, Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Baptist Church of Port Orchard.
