Coburn, Dillon
Dillon (Don) B. Coburn, of Longbranch, died on June 16, 2007. He was 85.
He was born March 5, 1922, and grew up in Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1940.
He marr-ied Coline Gillis on April 5, 1944.
After trade school, he moved to Oregon and was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served in World War II in the 351st Bomb Group, based in England, and flew 35 missions over Europe as a B-17 top turret gunner and flight engineer, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross.
After discharge in 1945, he worked at Boeing and later Lockheed Shipbuilding in Seattle.
He later worked as a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton until his retirement in 1982.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spent many winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his son Dean (and Linda) Coburn of Longbranch; daughters Kathy (and husband Wes) Marson of Marysville, Barb Coburn of Chelan, Peggy (and husband Mark) Ingraham of Purdy, Terry Ingraham of Tennessee, and Pam (and husband Budd) Murray of Longbranch, WA; and 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death last July by his wife Coline and by all five of his siblings.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m.on June 23 the Longbranch Community Church.
Luke, Lois
Lois A. Luke, of Manchester, died on June 15, 2007, in Tacoma.
She was 71.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1935, in Williston, N.D., to Michael and Margaret (Mott) Mellar.
She married
George Duke on Feb. 25, 1982, in Hawaii.
She graduated from Williston (N.D.) High School on 1953.
She worked as an administrative assistant for 18 years with the Department of Commerce in Seattle and later at Keyport and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by son Greg (and wife Kristy) Vandeberg, of Port Orchard; daughters Kary (and husband Jim) Tinsley, of Federal Way, Paula (and husband Roger) Trunzo, of Tacoma, , and Jan (and husband Dennis) Wall-Sennert, of Edgewood; brother Derold (and wife Paulette) Wertz, of St. George, Utah; sisters Donna Hattey of Independence, Mo., Irene (and husband Gordie) Mueller of Whidbey Island, and Bev Solberg, of Savage, Minn.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration life ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on June 22 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

Tappero, Steve
Steve Tappero, of Gig Harbor, died on June 10, 2007, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was 60.
He was born in Glendale, Calif., on Dec. 7, 1946, to Joseph and Sarah Tappero.
He graduated from Bellarmine-Jefferson High School in 1965 and was a long-time resident of the Gig Harbor area.
He is survived by wife Julie Tappero, of Gig Harbor; daughters Sara and Elyssa Tappero of Gig Harbor; brother Chris Tappero of Sam’s Valley, Ore.; and sister Mary Arnestad of Menominee, Mich.
A memorial service was held on June 15 at the Gig Harbor United Methodist Church.

Reid, Jackie
Jackie E. Reid, longtime resident of Port Orchard, died on on June 7, 2007.
He was 75.
He was born in Republic on April 30, 1932, to Albert and Marie (Gariano) Reid.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.
He worked as a carpenter in Kitsap County for many years.
He is survived by wife Anni H. Reid of Port Orchard; son Karl (and wife Donna) Reid of Port Orchard; daughter Christina Reid of Sun City, Ariz.; sister Carol Moore of Tacoma; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He will be inurned at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
Remington, James
James Allen Remington, of Bremerton, died in Olalla on Oct. 19, 2007.
He was 54.
He was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Fontana, Calif., to Paul and Barbara (Pruitte) Remington.
He attended Victor Valley High in Victorville, Calif.
He worked for 40 years as a welder.
He served in the U.S. Army as an engineer in Germany from 1970 to 1972.
He was a Christian and enjoyed boating and camping.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Smith; sons Jammy Dale and Jeremy Allen Remington and Richard Welch; daughter Angela Marie (and husband Jacobson) Haney; stepson James Dawson and stepdaughter Tonya Dawson; brothers Ed (and wife Sheila) Morgan and David (and wife Cheryl) Pruitte; sisters Paula M. Remington, Linda (and husband Chon) Nguyen and Robbin (and husband Doug) Bowen; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held on Oct. 26 at Peninsula Bible Fellowship in Bremerton.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Dock, Glen
Glen E. Dock, of Port Orchard, died at his home on Oct. 9, 2007.
He was 84.
He was born on May 14, 1923, in Three Rivers, Mich., to William R. and Nora B. (Lowman) Dock.
He married
Alice Kimmel on Sept. 25, 1947.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and was a veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Hornet and was part of the Doolittle Raid.
He also retired from Shop 42 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and was a Master Mason and VFW Member.
He is survived by wife Alice Dock and step-daughter Jean Hauser.
Burial will be in Moore Park, Mich.
Belcher, Beatrice
Beatrice Ann Belcher died on Oct. 17, 2007. She was 77.
She was born on July 25, 1930, to Frank and Mary (Helewski) Mox in Anoka, Minn.
She graduated from Bremerton High School.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Sam’s Plumbing & Heating, helped maintain rentals and worked at Keyport and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She is survived by daughters Sheri, Sharlene and Teri; son Larry; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A potluck memorial is scheduled for Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 1329 Garrison Road in Port Orchard.

Simpson, Joseph
Dr. Joseph M. Simpson III, of Gig Harbor, died on Oct. 17, 2007, in Bremerton.
He was 33.
He was born in Omaha, Neb., on June 30, 1974, to Dr. Joseph M. Simpson, Jr. and Ingrid Y. Simpson.
He graduated with honors from Fort Collins (Colo.) High School in 1992 and Colorado State University in 1998. He spent a year in Grinsted, Denmark, as a Rotary Club Exchange Student and Ambassador in 1993. He graduated magna cum laude from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Neb., in 2002 and practiced dentistry with his father at Alpine Dental Health in Fort Collins, Colo., prior to moving to Gig Harbor.
He was a specialist in aesthetic restorative dentistry.
He was an artist, roller coaster enthusiast, horseman, snow boarder and audiophile. His special interest was in the automotive field of exotic and rare cars, drag racing and particularly street rods.
He is survived by his parents; wife of three years, Dr. Karla M. Bloomquist; sister, Melissa M. Simpson of Alexandria, Va.; and his step-grandfather Robert M. McKinney, Fort Collins, Colo.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave., in Port Orchard.

McEdward, Wayne
Longtime Kitsap County resident Wayne Andrew McEdward died on Oct. 14, 2007.
He was 38.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1969, in Bremerton to Jim and Michele McEdward.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1988.
He enjoyed painting, fishing for squid, karaoke singing and the Kitsap County Line Dance Club.
He is survived by parents Jim and Michele McEdward, of Juneau, Alaska and brother Jim McEdward.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Port Orchard Lutheran Church. A reception will follow.
