Laura K. Trombley
Laura K. Trombley, 75, of Rutland, died Monday, December 8, 2003, at Haven Health Center in Rutland.
She was born on March 23, 1928, as Laura Belle King in Proctor, Vt., the daughter of Louis Frank and Alverta Corrine (Pockette) King.
She married
Cleo B. Trombley Sr. on September 21, 1946; they were married
for 30 years before he predeceased her on January 18, 1977.
She was a past commander of the DAV Auxiliary and a member of the Deermont Grange.
Laura attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rutland for many years and was a member of the Catholic Daughters.
She was formerly employed by Woolworth's, W.T. Grant, the Frog Pond Florist, Charlotte Allen's Community Care Home in Proctor and was a Home Interiors representative.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts and floral arranging.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara T. Adams of Palm Bay, Fla., Virginia T. Gilman of Rutland and Rosemarie T. Notte of West Rutland; her sons, Cleo B. Trombley Jr. of Rutland and Frank C. Trombley of Ira; one brother, Alfred (Mickey) King of North Carolina; one sister, Marceline Stratton of Rutland; five grandsons, Scott Adams and Jason Adams, both of Florida, Edward Gilman Jr. and Brian Notte, both of West Rutland, Tyler Trombley of Rutland; five granddaughters, Lynette Adams of Florida, Kristy Richardson of Rutland and Sara Godda of North Clarendon, Taylor Trombley and Carly Trombley, both of Ira; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert King; and two sisters, Shirley King Saceric and Betty King.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford. Burial will be held in the Spring of 2004 in Cheney Hill cemetery in Rutland Town.
Friends may call on Friday evening at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford from 4 to 6 p.m.

Thomas E. Berry Sr.
Thomas Edward Berry Sr., 54, of Rutland, died Dec. 9, 2003, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 21, 1949, in Rutland, the son of Richard and Avis (Wallace) Berry.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Berry worked for J.P. Carrara for many years, Ann Clark LTD, and most recently had been self-employed doing odd jobs in the Rutland area.
He was a member of American Legion Post 31.
He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Berry Jr., Brian Berry and Christopher Berry, his father, and former wife, Donna Sparks, all of Rutland; three sisters, Vanessa Anderson of Proctor, Rachael Williams of Rutland Town and Pamela Berry of Pittsford; and a great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his mother in 1998; a sister, Theresa Berry in 1968; and a nephew.
The memorial service will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home.
There will be no calling hours.

Alice E. Gravelle
Alice Eleanor Gravelle, 85, of Rutland, died Dec. 9, 2003, at her home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in West Haven, the daughter of William and Margaret (Blake) Gravelle.
Ms. Gravelle enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 during World War II. Following discharge and transfer to the Naval Fleet Reserves, she was recalled to the Navy during the Korean War and stayed through the Vietnam War. She retired in 1976 after 24 years of service.
She then returned to Rutland and worked for the Rutland Hospital as a lab technician for 18 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of St. Peter's Church, American Legion Post 31 and American Legion Post 31 Auxiliary.
Ms. Gravelle enjoyed bingo, flower gardening and hiking.
Survivors include a niece, Patricia Duprey of Portland, Maine; two nephews, Michael Gravelle of Rutland and Edward Gravelle of White River Junction; several great-nieces, great-nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Gravelle; and a brother, Francis Gravelle.
The funeral service is pending for Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary's cemetery in Fair Haven.
There will be no calling hours.

Kathryn F. Williams
Kathryn Frost Williams, 97, of Rutland, died Dec. 9, 2003, at Haven Heath Center.
She was born May 15, 1906, in Rutland, the daughter of Orlo and Annie (Hoyt) Frost.
She was a piano teacher for many years.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Advent Christian Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Merrilyn Towne of San Diego, Calif., Jane Kellogg and Marion Farrell, both of Rutland and Lucy Harrington of Danby; a son, Leighton Williams Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leighton Williams Sr. in 1992; a son, Leland Williams in 1992; two brothers, Robert Frost and Hoyt Frost; and a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Tossing Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Tate officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery with burial to take place in Northam cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Wilfred McIntyre
EAST DORSET- Wilfred "Gus" McIntyre, 75, died Dec. 6, 2003, at Haven Health Center in Rutland.
He was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Middletown Spring, the son of John and Charity (Wetherby) McIntyre.
He attended local schools.
Survivors include two brothers, Wilber McIntyre of Salem, N.Y., and Warren McIntyre of Melbourne, Fla.; and four sisters, Geraldine Toweslee and Mariann Baird, both of East Dorset, Minerva Baker of North Clarendon and Claire Ricard of Bennington.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Cremation took place at Vermont Cremation Service in Bennington.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester.
Stella M. Allen
MANCHESTER CENTER - Stella May Allen, 82, a resident of Manchester Fields, died Dec. 9, 2003 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington.
Dwight B. Cowan
SHAFTSBURY - Dwight Billings Cowan, 68, died Dec. 8, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 16, 1935, in New York City, the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Billings) Cowan.
He graduated from Vermont Academy in Saxtons River in 1954 and Amherst College in 1958.
He married
Laurie Chisolm in 1986 in Shaftsbury.
Mr. Cowan served in the U.S. Army.
He worked in a multitude of positions in the investment business, which included Merrill Lynch and Dean Witter as a broker. Later he went on to work for two other companies that provided computer and research services to the investment community.
After returning to Shaftsbury, he and his wife opened Brinkerhoff Lamps and Shades, a company specializing in the design and manufacture of unique lamps and hand-painted shades.
He enjoyed art.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Allison Cowan and a son, Zachary Cowan, all of Shaftsbury; and a sister, Lucy Smith of Santa Rosa, Calif.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Federated Church in East Arlington.

Alma B. Paquette
BELLOWS FALLS - Alma B. Paquette, 93, died Dec. 8, 2003, at Springfield Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1910, the daughter of Henry and Bridget (Redden) Kingsley.
She attended schools in Canaan, and worked as a clerk at J.J. Newberry's until its closing.
Mrs. Paquette was a member of St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls, and worked as a volunteer at blood drawings.
She was an avid reader.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Lucretia Beaudry of Wilder.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Paquette; and a daughter, Sandra Beaudry.
The funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls. Burial will take place at a later date in Colebrook, N.H.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.
