Beatrice M. Baker Rites
BRATTLEBORO - The funeral service for Beatrice Massey Baker, 98, who died Dec. 30, 2003, was held Friday at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. William Sheehan of Lowell, Mass., former pastor of St. Michael's, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Stanley Deresienski, the current pastor. Burial followed in St. Michael's Parish cemetery, where the Rev. Sheehan offered the prayers of committal.
Organist was Constance Wallin.
Bearers were Christopher Baker, James Baker, and John Baker, grandsons; Christopher Baker and William Baker, great-grandsons; and William Nege, a nephew.
The Atamaniuk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Alice E. Carey
Alice Ethel Carey, 83, of Rutland, died Jan. 3, 2004, at Park Terrace Community Care Home.
She was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Rutland, the daughter of Alfard and Ethel Godell.
She married
Stewart Carey on Aug. 6, 1977. He died in 2001.
Mrs. Carey was a longtime resident of Rutland and a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ.
She worked at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home for many years.
She enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred Godell, Dean Godell and Daniel Godell.
The funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ.
There will be no calling hours.

Jerry L. Reynolds
Jerry L. Reynolds, 46, of Rutland, died Jan. 5, 2004, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 17, 1957, in Rockford, Ill., the son of Arland and Ruth (Hammond) Reynolds.
He graduated from Springfield High School.
Mr. Reynolds worked at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe for many years.
He enjoyed fishing and painting murals.
Survivors include his mother of Morrisville; his former wife, Donna Jackson of New Haven; a sister, Janet Reynolds; two brothers, Duane Reynolds of East Corinth and James Reynolds Sr. of Rutland; a niece, nephew and grandnieces.
There will be no calling hours or service.

Robert L. Ward
PROCTOR - Robert L. Ward, 61, died Jan. 5, 2004 at his home.
He was the husband of Joan (Haley) Ward.

Rita L. Rehbein
PITTSFORD - Rita Lorreta Rehbein, 64, died Jan. 3, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Esmonda (Hoey) Rehbein.
She graduated from All Saints Commerce High School.
She relocated to Vermont in 1979, making her home in Shrewsbury until 1985, when she moved to Pittsford.
Ms. Rehbein worked as a manager for the General Nutrition Center in the Diamond Run Mall for many years.
She attended several churches in the area and was a member of St. Alphonsus Church.
Survivors include cousins, Denise Rueda, Mathew Rueda, Maria Rueda, Lea Roach and Charles Roach, all of Centereach, N.Y., William Roach of Florida and Deborah Smith of Rocky Point, N.Y.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Aldous Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen cemetery in Pittsford.

Florence M. Tyrrell
MENDON - Florence M. Tyrrell, 80, a former resident of Mendon, died Jan. 4, 2004, in Zephyrhills, Fla.
She was born Oct. 25, 1923, in Ludlow, the daughter of Effie and John Holcomb.
She had lived in Florida for the past 16 years and attended Crystal Springs Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Tyrrell enjoyed hooking rugs, baking, camping, fishing and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Crum of Zephyrhills, Patricia Falco of Center Rutland and Linda Lauzon of Springfield; a son, David Tyrrell of Proctorsville; a sister, Ruth Matthews of Rutland Town; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Theodore Tyrrell; two brothers, Richard Holcomb of Maine and Raymond Holcomb of California; and three sisters, Marion Crandell of Pittsfield, Mass., Gladys Derby of Hancock, Mass., and Mildred Wilkins of Ludlow.
The memorial service will take place at a later date.

Patricia R. Underhill Rites
PITTSFORD - The funeral service for Patricia R. Underhill, 85, who died Jan. 3, 2004, was held Monday at St. Peter's Church.
The Rev. W. Andre Houle officiated. A private burial will take place in Calvary cemetery.
Organist was John Riddle and soloist was Elise Cassarino.
Bearers were William Butler, Kevin Stone, Robert Baker, John Cioffi Jr., Dale Underhill and Mat Kelly.
A Christian prayer service was held Sunday at the Aldous Funeral Home by the Rev. Houle.

Mary D. Caryl Rites
SUDBURY - The funeral Mass for Mary Dorothy Caryl, 76, who died Dec. 24, 2003, was celebrated Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon with the Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor, officiating.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Lake View cemetery in Hubbardton.
The family received friends in the church parish hall for a time of fellowship and reflection following the service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Martin Mead Sr. Rites
POULTNEY - The funeral service for Martin (Ronnie) Mead Sr., 66, who died Dec. 31, 2003, was held Sunday at the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
The Rev. Arthur Ritchie, pastor of Raceville Baptist Church, officiated. Burial will take place at a later date in Lake View cemetery in Hubbardton.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.
Ida J. Gibson
WINDSOR - Ida J. Gibson, 98, died Dec. 22, 2003, at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center's Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor.
She was born Aug. 24, 1905, in Claremont, N.H., the daughter of Charles and Carrie (Davis) Hurd.
She graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont in 1923.
She married
Arthur Gibson on Christmas Eve 1923 in Windsor.
While in high school she worked as legal secretary for the law firm of Hurd and Kinney. After moving to Windsor she worked for Gilbert F. Davis, Louis Perkins and Kenneth Robinson. During the Depression she typed for Freddie Mayo Insurance Co., and later worked at the National Acme Co. in Windsor as a secretary until the machine shop closed.
She also worked for Ida Reed at St. Gaudens estate, and in the early 1940s she worked as a bookkeeper for Stacey Fuel and Lumber Co. for 27 years. She then worked as assistant town clerk for several years, as secretary-treasurer of the Windsor Public Library for 20 years and bookkeeper at the Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Windsor for nine years.
Mrs. Gibson was a member of Old South Congregational Church, the Ascutney Chapter 2 Order of Eastern Star, and the Past Matrons and Patrons Club. She also was a volunteer at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center.
She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include four nieces, Theresa Magoon and Patricia Hopkins, both of Claremont, N.H., Beverly Dykes of Federal Way, Wash., and Carolyn MacDonald of Surry, N.H.; and a nephew, Henry Hitchcock of Melbourne, Fla.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1987; four sisters, Mildred Blewitt, Anna Amell, Laura Amell and Esther Papps; and a brother, Clarence Hurd.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Old South Congregational Church in Windsor with the Rev. Amanda Lape-Freeberg, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Brownsville cemetery in West Windsor.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Old South Congregational Church, P.O. Box 298, Windsor, 05089.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.
