Paul D. Trapeni Rites
Funeral services for Paul D. Trapeni, 72, of Rutland, the whistling proprieter of Proctor Supermarket, who passed on peacefully December 26, 2003, with his family at his side, were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Rutland.
Officiating was the Rev. Thomas V. Mattison, associate pastor.
Entombment followed with burial at a later date in Evergreen cemetery.
Vocalist was Sister Francis Patrick.
Organist was Sister Pauline Gratton.
Readers were grandchildren, Caroline Trapeni and Carlyne Grady.
A poem was read by Jordan Aquistapace.
Words of remembrance were offered by Carlyne Rathke, a daughter, and Guy Trapeni, a son.
Offertory gifts were presented by grandchildren, Jordan Aquistapace and Hannah Trapeni.
Honorary bearers were members of the Italian Aid Society.
Bearers were Joseph Trapeni, Brad Trapeni, Matthew Trapeni, Zachary Aquistapace, Brian Grady and Chad Drake.
Prayer services were held Tuesday evening at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Mattison.

Pierna G. Crosta Rites
The funeral Mass for Pierna G. Crosta, 94, of Rutland, who died Dec. 28, 2003, was celebrated Tuesday at St. Peter's Church in Rutland with the Rev. John Herbert officiating.
Organist was John Riddle and vocalist was Elise Cassarino.
Bearers were Gary Ladabouche, Norman Ladabouche, Amy Ladabouche and Jeffrey Ladabouche.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Church, Renovation Fund, Convent Avenue, Rutland, 05701.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Janet A. Chamberlain Rites
PROCTOR - The memorial service for Janet A. Chamberlain, 62, who died Dec. 28, 2003, was held Wednesday at the Tossing Funeral Home.
The Rev. Russ Gates, pastor of Union Church in Proctor, and the Rev. Gareth Tobin of Home, Pa., co-officiated. Burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen cemetery.
Sarah Smith Rites
BRANDON - The funeral service for Sarah (Oneil) Sargent Smith, 88, who died Dec. 28, 2003, was held Wednesday at Brandon United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Kathleen Bevan, pastor, officiated.
Organist was Kim Nelson.
Pallbearers included Robert J. McFadyen, Robert S. McFadyen, Galen Hutchison, Robert Fales Sr., Robert Fales Jr. and Gale Parmelee.
The family received friends at the church hall for a time of fellowship and reflection following the service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Arminala P. Severance, 100
CHESTER - Arminala P. Severance, 100, died Dec. 24, 2003, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 7, 1903, in Chester, the daughter of Foster and Lou (Morris) Parmenter.
She graduated from Chester High School in 1921.
She married
Dean Severance, who predeceased her.
Mrs. Severance was a member of the Mitzpah Chapter of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Citizens in Chester and the Chester Players Guild. She was also a member and longtime organist at Chester Baptist Church.
Survivors include two nephews and two grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Dean Severance Jr.; and a sister, Alletah Underhill.
The graveside service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Chester.
Robert (Bobby) Joseph Walsh
ARLINGTON - Robert Walsh, age 36, a lifelong resident of Arlington, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
He was born in Bennington, November 25, 1967, the son of Joseph and Marlene (Willard) Walsh. He attended local schools. He graduated from Arlington Memorial High School with his class even after a diving accident that left him paralyzed for life and hospitalized for the eight months prior to graduation. He continued his education taking several college courses in accounting.
In his youth Bobby enjoyed sports and was active in Arlington soccer and baseball. He was a longtime Boy Scout and huge NASCAR fan. He worked for the Cullinens Store in Arlington before and after his accident. He worked for two years at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington before working as an accountant from his home. He also worked for the state as an advocate for people with disabilities. He made sure facilities kept in compliance with handicap codes and accessibility. Bobby gave back to the community that had given him so much, when he started a fund drive to help the Wilcox farm after a fire took their barn. Bobby was a stubborn perfectionist and was very good at anything he wanted to do. He was a good friend and neighbor. His sharp sense of humor helped him thrive through life's obstacles. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his mother and father of Detroit, Texas; his brothers, Max and wife Alice Walsh of Detroit, Texas, Dwain and wife Ella Walsh of Hubbardton, Vt., and Scott Walsh of Arlington; his sisters, Michelle Ennis of Fair Haven, Vt., and Linda Naaktgeboren and husband Andrew of East Arlington; and several nieces and nephews, including Kyle Naaktgeboren.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, January 4, at 2 p.m., at the Hanson-Walbridge Arlington Chapel. The Reverend Thomas Truscott of the Federated Church in East Arlington will officiate. His cremated remains will be committed to the earth in the Evergreen cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Ida M. Caslin
BENNINGTON - Ida M. Caslin, 86, died Dec. 31, 2003, at Rivers Edge Community Care Home.
She was born May 21, 1917, in Monkton, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Sherman) Parker.
She received her education in the Monkton schools.
She married
Basil Caslin on June 7, 1937, in Bennington. He died in 1977.
Mrs. Caslin and her husband owned and operated Caslin's Grocery in Bennington for more than 30 years.
In earlier years she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Andrew.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Liporace of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; five sons, David Caslin of Brazoria, Texas, Rick Caslin, Terry Caslin and Craig Caslin, all of Bennington and Mark Caslin of Brattleboro; a sister, Rachel Mcent of Wallingford; and 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Sally Bushee and Gloria Watson; and brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer, and continue at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. with the celebration of Mass. Burial will take place in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The wake service will be offered during the calling hours.

Ruth R. Bub
BENNINGTON - Ruth Rhodes Bub, 83, died Dec. 30, 2003, at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington.
Beatrice Baker
DUMMERSTON - Beatrice Massey Baker, 98, died Dec. 30, 2003, at her home in East Dummerston.
She was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Brattleboro, the daughter of Louis and Ruby (Stockwell) Massey.
She graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1923.
She married
James Baker on Feb. 6, 1928. He died in 1990.
Mrs. Baker was an assistant to Howard Rice, publisher of the Brattleboro Reformer from 1923 to 1930.
Her civic interests included the Brattleboro Women's Club and the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed 18th century furniture and portraits, gardening and Brattleboro history.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Baker of Brattleboro, Dudley Baker of Bennington and Dennis Baker of Dummerston; seven grandsons, three granddaughters, five great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters.
She was predeceased by a brother, Gordon Massey.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Brattleboro with the Rev. William Sheehan of the Oblates of Mary Immaculata officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Belmont Avenue, Brattleboro.

PROCTORSVILLE - The funeral service for Pauline R. Rumrill, 97, who died Dec. 27, 2003, was held Wednesday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The Rev. Richard Cederholm, pastor of North Springfield Baptist Church, officiated. Burial will take place at a later date in Hillcrest cemetery in Proctorsville.
Ronald W. Crosier Rites
SHAFTSBURY - The funeral service for Ronald W. Crosier, who died Dec. 27, 2003, was held Wednesday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
The Rev. Deborah Estey, pastor of Shaftsbury United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial followed in Grandview cemetery in North Bennington.
Bearers included Michael Jones, William Crosier, Andrew Crosier, Ray Crosier, Rick Crosier and James Crosier.
Frederick A. Moffitt Rites
BENNINGTON - The funeral service for Frederick A. Moffitt, who died Dec. 28, 2003, was held Wednesday at Shaftsbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Deborah Estey, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.
Organist was George Paulin and soloist was Betty Paulin.
Bearers were Thomas Mooney Jr., Christopher Mooney, Duncan Moffitt, Henry Martinka Sr., Henry Martinka Jr. and Rickey Roy.
Members of the Bennington Elks Lodge conducted their service Tuesday.
