Clesson F. Smith

MERRIMACK, N.H. - Clesson F. Smith, 64, died Dec. 8, 2003, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was born Aug. 31, 1939, the son of Charles and Avis Smith.

He worked for Moore's Business Forms in Rutland, Vt., and Manchester until retiring.

Survivors include three sons, James Smith and David Smith, both of Merrimack and Donald Smith of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Cathy Wayman of Merrimack; and four sisters, Zita Butler of Berlin, N.Y., Valerie Teevan of Oakwood, Ga., Yvonne Nicklaw of Brandon, Vt., and Naomi Bierly of Rutland.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at the Rivet Funeral Home in Merrimack.

Anthony M. Notte Rites

The funeral Mass for Anthony M. "Tony" Notte, 47, of Rutland, who died Dec. 11, 2003, was celebrated Monday at Christ the King Church.

The Rev. W. Andre Houle, pastor of St. Peter's Church in Rutland, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary cemetery.

Organist was John Riddle and soloist was Elise Cassarino.

Bearers were William Maynard, Dale Dauphenais, Ron Fredette, Jeff McGinnis, John Nemeth, Brian Notte, Luke Molaski and Tony Notte.

A prayer service was offered Sunday at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Houle.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Joan B. Lewis Rites

POULTNEY - The funeral Mass for Joan B. Lewis, 64, who died Dec. 10, 2003, was celebrated Saturday at St. Raphael the Archangel Church in Poultney.

The Rev. Adam Krempa, pastor, officiated. Burial was held Sunday in Poultney cemetery.

Organist was Nancy Wetherby.

Bearers were Gordon Godfrey Jr., Craig Johnson, Robert Cross, Larry Whitcomb, Charles Mason and Richard Stickney.

A reception was provided by the St. Raphael's Church Ladies Guild in the parish hall.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.

Ellen A. Spafford

CHESTER - Ellen A. Spafford, 88, died Dec. 13, 2003, at Springfield Hospital.

She was born April 22, 1915, in Bridgewater, the daughter of George and Nellie (Joselyn) Vose.

She grew up in Claremont, N.H., where she attended Stevens High School.

She married Oscar Spafford on June 26, 1935, in Springfield.

Mrs. Spafford worked on her family's farm her whole life. She was also a registered nurse and worked at Bonnett's Nursing Home of Chester, Taylor's Nursing Home in Springfield, Cutler's Nursing Home of Springfield, Springfield Hospital, and retired from Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a member of St. Luke's Church in Chester.

She raised horses, and enjoyed her vegetable garden, knitting, reading, and playing the piano and organ.

Survivors include three sons, George Spafford of Springfield, Roger Spafford of Lilburn, Ga., and Francis Spafford of Chester; four daughters, Patricia Spafford and Dorothy Spafford, both of Chester, Sharon Anoe of Gloucester, Mass., and Anne Amsden of Windham; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; and a daughter, Margorie.

Services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Chester.

Raymond G. DuVal Rites

POULTNEY - The funeral service for Raymond G. DuVal, 81, who died Dec. 11, 2003, was held Saturday at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.

The Rev. Stephen Payne officiated. Burial followed in Poultney cemetery.

American Legion Post 39 of Poultney provided military honors.

Bearers were James Hornbeck, Daniel Coppins, Douglas Jones, David Tupper, Robert Williams and Randy Barber.

A reception was held at American Legion Post 39 of Poultney following the service.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.

Edward Prinsen

SPRINGFIELD - Edward "Ted" Prinsen, 60, died Dec. 12, 2003, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Hazel R. Krupsky

NEWPORT, N.H. - Hazel Ruth Krupsky, 75, a former resident of Unity, died Dec. 14, 2003, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

She was born May 11, 1928, in Ludlow, Vt., the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Spaulding) Johnston.

She graduated from Black River High School in Ludlow and attended the University of Vermont.

She married Adam Krupsky on Feb. 20, 1950. He died in 1997.

Mrs. Krupsky worked as a data processor manager at Bryant Grinder Corp. for several years and as a caregiver at the Arbor View Senior Center in Newport. She and her husband also operated a blueberry farm in Unity for several years.

Survivors include one brother, Robert Johnston of Owego, N.Y.; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Claremont with the Rev. Shawn Therrien, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Stringer Funeral Home in Newport.

Dennis Boudreau Rites

BENNINGTON - The funeral service for Dennis Boudreau, who died Dec. 6, 2003, was held Saturday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

The Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, officiated.

A reception was held at Mount Anthony Country Club in Bennington following the service.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.

Eunice M. LaJoie

ORWELL - Eunice Mary La Joie, 68, died Dec. 13, 2003, at her home.

She was born May 6, 1935, in East Arlington, the daughter of Walter and Millie (Pero) Blyther.

She married Donald LaJoie.

Mrs. LaJoie was a homemaker and worked as a clerk at Buxton's General Store in Orwell.

She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Orwell.

She enjoyed her flower garden.

Survivors include her husband of Orwell; six sons, Donald LaJoie, Michael LaJoie and Robert French, all of Gardner, Mass., Mark LaJoie of Orwell, Ronald LaJoie of Barre, Mass., and Billy French of Royalston, Mass.; three daughters, Mary Ann Kimball of Auburn, Mass., Susan LaJoie of Leominster, Mass., and Sharon Orning of Rochester, Wash.; three brothers, John Blyther of Chicago, Dean Blyther of Hubberston, Mass., and Dwayne Blyther of Orwell; two sisters, Helen Blyther of Baldwinsville, Mass., and Betty St. Cyer of Ashbernham, Mass.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Orwell. The Rev. Albert Baltz will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Mountain View cemetery.

Calling hours will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sanderson Funeral Home in Middlebury.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, Md., 21208.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service.

Susan M. Rogers

STOWE - Susan MacKenzie Rogers, 57, died Dec. 11, 2003, at her home.

She was born July 27, 1946, in Williamstown, Mass., the daughter of Harry and Anne (Hogan) MacKenzie.

She graduated from Bennington Catholic High School in 1964 and Garland Junior College, and later continued her education in nursing.

She married Richard Rogers on Oct. 12, 1973, in Williamstown.

Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Judy Rich of Venice, Fla., and Gale Holden of Bennington; aunts and cousins; and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

There will be no calling hours.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.

Margaret B. Haggerty

Margaret Bender Haggerty, 95, of Rutland and a former resident of Hackensack, N.J., died Dec. 16, 2003, at the Meadows at East Mountain.

She was born Jan. 31, 1908, in Astoria, N.Y., the daughter of Jacob and Emma (Steigertahl) Bender.

She was a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hackensack.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Fowler of Killington; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Haggerty in 1980; and a son, Robert Haggerty in 1975.

Memorial services are pending.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sherburne UCC Church, in care of Ron Willis, Stage Road, Killington, 05751.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral home in Rutland.
