Arthur Stocker
LUDLOW — Arthur Stocker, 77, died Oct. 3, 2003, at Springfield Hospital.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Ludlow.

Charlotte D. Davison
SPRINGFIELD — Charlotte Dean Davison, 84, died Oct. 2, 2003, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 4, 1918, the daughter of David and Ella (Cutts) Morris.
She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1996 at age 78.
Survivors include her son, William Morris of Queensbury, N.Y.; her daughter, Janis Bartlett of Chester; her stepson, Robert Davison of Springfield; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Davison; a brother, Charles Morris; and a grandson.
The graveside service will be held at a later date.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to any Humane Society.
Rev. Virginia P. Evans
BRATTLEBORO — The Rev. Virginia P. Evans, 55, of West Brattleboro died Oct. 1, 2003, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with cancer.
She was born Dec. 2, 1947, in Waukegan, Ill., the daughter of Robert and Grace (Kohl) Parrish.
She graduated from Concord High School in 1965. She continued her education at Endicott Junior College in Beverly, Mass., and Northeastern University where she received her bachelor’s degree in education.
She later graduated from the Andover-Newton Theological School with a master’s in divinity, and was ordained in 1999 at the North Organe, Mass., Community Church.
She married
Jonathan Evans on Aug. 1, 1970, in Durham, N.H.
Prior to entering the ministry she taught elementary education in Concord, N.H., and worked for Monarch Securities in Springfield, Mass., as a vice president.
As a minister, her first church assignment was with the Whately Congregational Church in Whately, Mass. She then became pastor of First Congregational Church in Gardner, Mass., serving as pastor until February 2003.
The Rev. Evans was a former member of Center Congregational Church in Brattleboro.
She enjoyed mosaic art.
Survivors include her husband; her son, Jeremy Evans of Brattleboro; her daughter, Christine Evans of Morrison, Colo.; two brothers, Robert Parrish of North Conway, N.H., and Bruce Parrish of Bow, N.H.; and two grandchildren.
The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Gardner, Mass., with the Rev. Arlene Tully, pastor of the Randolph, Maine United Methodist Church, officiating.
A reception will be held in the church vestry after the service.
There will be no calling hours.

Lucile E. Lund
SAXTONS RIVER — The graveside service for Lucile E. Lund, who died March 16, 2003, will be held today at 10 a.m. in Saxtons River cemetery.
Ralph T. Goodell
PHOENIX, Ariz. — Ralph T. Goodell, 91, died Sept. 16, 2003.
He was born May 31, 1912, in Cavendish, Vt., the son of Adwin and Inice Tarbell.
He worked at Jones and Lamson Textron Machine Shop in Springfield for 28 years, retiring in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Goodell of Phoenix; a son, Donald Goodell of Goodyear; six stepchildren; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. at Phoenix Memorial Park with Dave Scalf of Paradise Valley Christian Church officiating.

Kenneth J. Todd Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The memorial service for Kenneth J. Todd, 51, who died Sept. 13, 2003, was held Friday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The Rev. Thomas Hiltsley, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiated. Burial followed in Oakland cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Memorial Chapel.
Robert J. Churchill
BROOKFIELD — Robert J. Churchill, 85, of Brookfield died Friday morning, October 3, 2003, at his home in Brookfield.
He was born April 27, 1918, in Canaan, Vt., the son of F. Elwin and Matie (Chamberlain) Churchill.
He attended Morrisville schools and graduated from People’s Academy. He continued his education, graduating from Vermont School of Agriculture (now Vermont Technical College) Randolph Center in 1936. He remained there as a herdsman until 1943.
He married
Margaret Temple on May 10, 1939, in Morrisville. The Churchills bought Happy Hill Farm in Brookfield in 1943 and have milked Jerseys there for the past 60 years.
Mr. Churchill served as a Town Lister for Brookfield for several years. He was a delegate and on the sire committee for Eastern AI (now Genex), member and past president of the Central Vermont DHIA, director and member of Windsor County Feeds, Agway committeeman, past member of the Brookfield Masons, past committeeman and member of the county committee for ACP (now Farm Service Agency), member, past president and treasurer of the Vermont Jersey Breeders, member and past president of the New England and American Jersey Cattle Club and member of the Orange County Sugarmakers.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Churchill of Brookfield; two sons, Allan and wife Nancy Churchill of Chester, and Ray and wife Lora of Brookfield; two daughters, Mary and husband Ray Doyle of Salisbury, and Alice and husband Richard Kempe of Willoughby, Ohio; a brother, Charles Churchill of Brookfield; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Christina Hart.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 11 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Rilling officiating. Burial will be in the Brookfield Center cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VTC Family Farming Fund Scholarship, in care of Vermont Technical College, Randolph Center, Vt., 05061.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
Jerome P. Corvan Jr.
VERGENNES — Jerome P. “Jerry” Corvan Jr., 92, died Oct. 3, 2003, at Helen Porter Nursing Home.
He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y. He graduated from Amherst College and attended Harvard Business School.
He married
Betty Breeding in 1944.
He worked on Wall Street as a stock broker for several years, and he and his wife bought a ski lodge in Mount Snow, Deerhill, which they managed for 15 years. After moving to Charlotte, he planted 2,500 fruit trees, which became the Golden Apple Orchard.
Mr. Corvan was a member of the 7th Regiment and enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was later commissioned lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and was purchasing officer for the naval gun factory in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Constance Noon; two sons, Peter Corvan and Jerome Corvan III; and five grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Vermont Audubon, 255 Sherman Hollow Road, Huntington, 05462.

Faith M. Conrad
Faith M. Conrad, 92, died Sept. 30, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 27, 1908, in North Granby, Conn., the daughter of William and Maud (Ruby) Carter.
She married
John R. Fisher on Aug. 10, 1931. He died in 1962.
She married
George A. Conrad on Sept. 30, 1966.
Mrs. Conrad trained in voice and piano, and used her talents in sacred music, as a soloist in churches and on the radio.
She was a founding and active member of the Northfield Baptist Church in Northfield, Mass., and later became a member of Calvary Bible Church in Rutland. She taught children’s Bible clubs, including Native American Indians in Arizona where she lived for many years.
She enjoyed reading and playing the piano.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Faith Stacey and Grace Merrifield, both of Rutland, and Jean Phillips of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, David G. Carter in 1994, and a granddaughter in 1973.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Tossing Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in West Northfield cemetery in West Northfield, Mass.
There are no calling hours.

Lloyd G. McCullough
PITTSFORD — The funeral service for Lloyd G. McCullough, 74, who died Sept. 29, 2001, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in Pittsford.

Archie G. H. Shufelt
The funeral for Archie G. H. Shufelt, 64, who died Sept. 28, 2001, at Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, will be held today at 4 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland.
He was born in Coldwater City, Mich., on Aug. 7, 1937 the son of Archie and Margaret (Hyatt) Shufelt.
He was raised in Michigan where he graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1956. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving for four years.
Prior to moving to Rutland, Mr. Shufelt lived in Brandon.
He was employed by Carris Reels.
Survivors are his brother, Daniel Shufelt of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a niece; and by his guardian, Eileen T. Brough of Rutland.
Friends may call today from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
Private burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
