Mrs. Georgiana “Nan” A. Hicks
FAIR HAVEN — Mrs. Georgiana Aldous Hicks, 84, died Wednesday morning, October 1, 2003, at the Hallmark Nursing Centre in North Granville, New York, after a long illness.
Nan was born on September 9, 1919, in Granville, New York, the daughter of the late William D. and Edith (Shaw) Aldous. She was a graduate of the Granville (N.Y.) High School with the Class of 1939. Nan was married
to Mr. Davis Culver Hicks who predeceased her on June 2, 1991.
Mrs. Hicks was a resident of Fair Haven for many years, moving to Hartford, New York, in the latter part of her life.
Nan was first employed as a Hostess at the Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Rutland for several years. Later she became employed as a Thermometer Calibration Technician for Staco Industries in Poultney, Vermont. She was a member and very instrumental in the organization of the AFL-CIO Union that was established at Staco for the benefit of the employees. While residing in Fair Haven, she was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fair Haven and currently a member of the All Saints Chapel in North Granville, N.Y.
Nan is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Capron of Fair Haven; her two sons, Davis A. Hicks of Hartford, N.Y., and Frank Joseph Hicks of Andover, Kansas, and their families as well as her sister, Charlotte Shaw of Rochester, N.Y. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Gladys Markoff and Agnes Felt; and two brothers, Roy Aldous and Charles Aldous.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be private and conducted at the convenience of her family.

Mrs. Wilma E. Mills
LYNN, Mass. — Mrs. Wilma Eugenia Mills, 77, a former resident of the West Haven and Benson, Vermont, areas, died Wednesday morning, October 1, 2003, at the Life Care Center of the North Shore in Lynn, Massachusetts, after a long illness.
Wilma was born on May 9, 1926, in Benson, Vermont, the daughter of the late Edward N. and Velma E. (Bartholomew) Dumas. Mrs. Mills married
her husband, Mr. Frank Mills, in New Hampshire and the couple made their home in Lynn, Mass., all of their married
life. Mr. Mills predeceased his wife in September 2003.
Wilma found enjoyment in doing crafts, especially ceramics and sewing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and found great enjoyment in being with children of all ages. Even though she had made her home in Massachusetts for several years she never lost her love for her home State of Vermont and she would spend as much of the summer months as possible in the towns of West Haven and Benson.
She is survived by her son, James W. Jannene and his wife Patricia of Cornwall, Vt.; her two daughters, Janet Ladyman and her husband Thomas of Silverdale, Washington, and Brenda Davidson and her husband David of Lake Bay, Washington; her adopted son, Brian Mills of Maine; her five sisters, Bernice Charron of West Haven, Vt., Edna Hunt of Foxboro, Mass., Joyce Cote of Berkley, Mass., Patricia Bishop of Phelps, N.Y., and Gail Inglee of Mansfield, Mass. She is also survived by her brother, Edward N. Dumas of West Haven, Vt.; her six grandchildren, Emily Jannene, Tia Ladyman, James E. Jannene, Justin Ladyman, Brian Mills Jr. and Michael Mills; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven, Vt. The Rev. Marshall Hudson-Knapp, pastor of the First Congregational Church, UCC, will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove cemetery in Fair Haven.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
C.E. Corey
FOREST DALE — C.E. “Bill” Corey, 86, died Aug. 28, 2003, while visiting his family in Denver.
The memorial service, in celebration of his life, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Forest Dale Wesleyan Church. The Rev. John McDonald, pastor, and Bertram Coolidge will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Dale cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church hall for a time of fellowship and reflection following the service.

Leonard M. Bell Sr. Rites
The funeral service for Leonard M. Bell Sr. of Rutland, who died Sept. 27, 2003, was held Wednesday at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland. The Rev. Bruce Bishop, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Rutland, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary cemetery.
American Legion Post 31 of Rutland provided military honors. Jack Allen made the flag presentation. Bugler was Paul Poljacik.
Bearers were Stanley Jagodzinski, Patrick Towne, Gary Pellistri, Daniel Bell, James Bell and Leonard Bell Jr.
A prayer service was held Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Bishop.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Marguerite V. Gilbert
WINDSOR — Marguerite V. “Maggie” Gilbert, 73, died Oct. 1, 2003, at Mount Ascutney Hospital & Health Center.
She was born July 3, 1930, in Windsor, the daughter of Hector and Matilda (Charland) Moquin.
She graduated from Windsor High School in 1949.
She married
John Gilbert Sr. on Feb. 23, 1952, in Windsor. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Gilbert worked at Thermal Dynamics in West Lebanon, N.H., for more than 10 years and Williams Laundry in Windsor for many years.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Gilbert of Norwich and Donna Gilbert of Burlington; three sons, John Gilbert Jr. of South Woodstock, Mark Gilbert of Enfield, N.H., and Paul Gilbert of Springfield; three sisters, Rosanna Franklin of West Springfield, Mass., Clara Mae Lamica of Ascutney and Ella Perry of Windsor; one brother, Norman Moquin of Claremont, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Gilbert, in 1998; and two sisters, Pauline Wilson and Victoria Garcia.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor with the Rev. Paul Belhumeur officiating. Burial will follow in St. Francis cemetery in Windsor.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.

Gordon Ranney
PROCTORSVILLE — Gordon Ranney, 77, died Oct. 1, 2003, at Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow.
The graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hillcrest cemetery in Proctorsville.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
Ernest R. Sheldon
WEATHERSFIELD — Ernest R. Sheldon, 75, died Sept. 30, 2003, at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.
He was born March 13, 1928, in East Clarendon, the son of Ernest and Mable (Fuller) Sheldon.
He worked in the talc mine in Windham and for many woolen mills. He also worked at Doorcrafters after his retirement from the mills.
Mr. Sheldon served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Alice (Stetson) Sheldon of Weathersfield; four sons, Larry Sheldon of Burnt Cabins, Pa., Linden Sheldon of Providence, R.I., James Roy of Palmer, Alaska, and Edward Roy III of Dublin, N.H.; four daughters, Cheryl Catlin and Candi Sheldon, both of Fort Averill Park, N.Y., Christine Cude of Weatherford, Texas, and Debra Roy of Farmers Branch, Texas; two brothers, Willis of Chester and Maurice of Proctorsville; two sisters, Olive Gilman of Proctorsville and Caroline Bersaw of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; many grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Merritt.
The memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. Burial will take place in the Vermont Veterans cemetery in Randolph.
There will be no calling hours.

Herbert W. Jamison Sr.
SPRINGFIELD — Herbert W. Jamison Sr., 90, died Sept. 27, 2003, at Springfield Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1913, in Wantagh, N.Y., the son of Charles and Julia (Pote) Jamison.
He received his education in New York.
He married
Amy Eilers on Oct. 30, 1938, in Islip, N.Y.
Mr. Jamison worked as an electronic technician for the New York City Transit Authority for many years.
Survivors include his wife of Springfield; a son, Herbert Jamison Jr. of Springfield; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering was held Monday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.

BENNINGTON — William Ross Thomson, 52, died Oct. 1, 2003.

BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Mary Daigneault Morris, who died Sept. 26, 2003, was celebrated Tuesday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor, officiating. Concelebrant was the Rev. Jerome Day, pastor of St. Raphael’s Church in Manchester, N.H. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.
Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray.
Bearers were Peter Hall, Alex Daigneault, Jeffrey Daigneault, Gregory Daigneault, Kyle Daigneault and Martin Daigneault. Honorary bearers were classmates of Mrs. Morris from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Pittsfield, Mass., Dolores Chapman, Olga Dunn, June Carroll, Lucille Horton and Maureen Depew.
A reception was held in the church Parish Center following the service.
A prayer service was held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home prior to the Mass.
The wake service was offered Monday at the funeral home by the Rev. Coppola and a family prayer was offered by the Rev. Day. Musical selections were sung by the Sweet Adelines.

EAST MIDDLEBURY — The funeral service for Kenneth Hayes, 63, who died Sept. 27, 2003, was held Wednesday at the East Middlebury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jill Robinson, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Prospect cemetery in East Middlebury.
Organist was Dorothy Elmer.
Pallbearers were Randy Hayes, Ricky Hayes, Danny Dragon, Randy Dragon, Sean Hayes and Randy Stockwell.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service in Middlebury.
Mary O. Mooney
The funeral service for Mary O. Mooney, 89, of Rutland who died Sept. 28, 2003, was held Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
The Rev. Francis Privé, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary cemetery with the Rev. Privé reading the prayers of the burial service.
Lori Routhier was vocalist. Richard Brown was organist. Reader was Thomas Rooney.
Bearers were Michelle Bailey, Bryan Bailey, Erin Mazzariello, Jeremy Mazzariello, Mary Frances Mooney and Michael Skaza.

The funeral service for Patricia A. (Joyce) Scott, 75, of Rutland, who died Sept. 28, 2003, was held Thursday in St. Peter’s Church.
The Rev. Paul Sackevich officiated. Burial was in Calvary cemetery with the Rev. Sackevich reading the prayers of the burial service.
Lori Routhier was vocalist. Richard Brown was organist.
Bearers were Leila Elshamy, Tim Rice, Erin Rice, Michael Joyce, Billy Joyce and Tom Joyce.

SOUTH LONDONDERRY — A committal service for Norma Luinetti and her son, Darrell, who died as a result of an automobile accident Aug. 8, 2003, in Maryland, will be held at Glebe View cemetery in South Londonderry on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Father Stephen, formerly from the Weston Priory, will officiate.
