Jean M. Beck
ARLINGTON, Mass. — Jean M. Beck, 78, died June 24, 2003, at Wayside Hospice in Wayland.
She was born March 25, 1925, in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of Glen and Charlotte Howland.
She graduated from Pittsford (Vt.) High School.
After moving to Arlington, she enjoyed vacationing in the Rutland area.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Beck and Cynthia Curreri of Arlington, and Charlotte Tocio of Billerica; two sisters, Barbara Ketcham of Pittsford and Eleanor Treece of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in Pittsford.

Paul E. Alderman
Paul E. Alderman, 86, of Rutland Town, died July 14, 2003, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on Feb. 25, 1917. He married
his wife of 64 years, E. Jane Reeser on Jan. 7, 1938. They moved to Rutland from Rome, N.Y., in 1989.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Alderman worked throughout his career in the automobile business, eventually retiring from Motors Insurance Corp., a division of General Motors, in 1978.
Throughout his life he enjoyed many activities from speed skating to fishing, skiing, running with his pals, to most recently, his passion for golf. His one wish in life was to live right up until he died and he did, making his last tee time just one hour before passing.
Mr. Alderman was a member of Rutland United Methodist Church, a loyal husband, devout father, committed family man, and an extremely considerate individual.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Alderman; his brother, Halsey Alderman of Endicott, N.Y.; his son, Philip Alderman of Clarendon; his daughter, Janet Janczewski of Chattanooga, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Rutland United Methodist Church, 73 Williams St., on Friday at 11 a.m.

Albert J. LeBlanc Rites
The funeral Mass for Albert J. LeBlanc, 85, of Rutland, who died July 12, 2003, was celebrated Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. The Rev. Richard Tinney, pastor of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Fair Haven, officiated. Concelebrant was the Rev. William LaLiberte of Rutland.
Organist was Richard Brown and vocalist was Dennis Sheridan.
American Legion Post 31 of Rutland provided military honors. James Burke presented the flag to the family. Stephanie Moser sounded taps.
Bearers were Dick Sullivan, George Hooker, Robert Hooker, Bill Gardner, James Patch and Daniel LeBlanc.
A prayer service was held Monday at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Tinney.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Margaret T. Smith Rites
POULTNEY — The funeral Mass for Margaret T. Smith, 94, who died July 12, 2003, was celebrated Tuesday at the Church of St. Raphael in Poultney with the Rev. Adam Krempa officiating. Burial followed in St. Raphael’s cemetery.
Organist was Cathy Van Guilder.
Bearers were Donald Williams, Greg Knapp and Jack Tobin.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.
Charles J. Neet Sr.
PERKINSVILLE — Charles J. Neet Sr., 80, died July 15, 2003, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 18, 1923, in Derby, Conn., the son of Charles and Helen (Shearin) Neet.
He attended schools in Babylon, N.Y.
He married
Marjorie Lent on Oct. 18, 1947, in Babylon.
Mr. Neet worked for the Long Island Railroad in Babylon for many years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of Perkinsville; two sons, Charles Neet Jr. of Round Rock, Texas, and Douglas Neet of Perkinsville; two brothers, Robert Neet of Baltimore, Md., and Thomas Neet of Salisbury, N.Y.; two sisters, Helen Brown and Christine Howlett, both of West Islip, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield with the Rev. Peter Williams, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Babylon.
Friends may call Friday one hour prior to the service at the Davis Chapel.

James M. Romano
BELLOWS FALLS — James M. Romano, 57, died July 14, 2003, at Springfield Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1946, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of James Romano.
He graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1966.
Survivors include his stepmother, Myrtle Romano of Rutland; and an uncle.
The graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Earl J. Wilcox
OCALA, Fla. — Earl J. Wilcox, 73, formerly of White River Junction, Vt., died June 23, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in TimberRidge.
He was born Oct. 20, 1929, in South Strafford, Vt., the son of Roy and Margaret (Porter) Wilcox.
He worked as a meat cutter for Swift Meats in White River Junction for many years and later in construction.
Mr. Wilcox was a member of the Lebanon Elks Club and St. Anthony’s Church in White River Junction.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Eulalia (Vincent) Wilcox of Ocala; five sisters, Myrtle Jenkins of Leesburg, Lois Boucier of Springfield, Mass., Dolly Griswold of West Lebanon, N.H., Winnie Barksdale of O’Fallon, Ill., and Theresa Campbell of Meriden, N.H.; three brothers, Dana Wilcox of Hanover, N.H., Walter Wilcox of Etna, N.H., and Ernest Wilcox of White River Junction.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Wilcox.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 27 at Queen of Peace Church in Ocala. A graveside service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Christian Street cemetery in Wilder, Vt.

Norma B. Esau
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — Norma Bonelli Esau, 83, of Port Washington and Ludlow, Vt., died July 11, 2003.
She was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Edward and Rose (Sferratore) Bonelli.
She graduated from Jamaica High School and attended Brooklyn College.
Mrs. Esau was known for her pasta sauce.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Esau of Marlboro, Vt., and Ludlow, Vt.; two daughters, Lisabeth Fisher of Malvern, Pa., and Cynthia Jeralino of Cavendish, Vt.; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John Esau; and a brother, Alfred Bonelli.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 15, at St. Peter of Alcantara Church in Port Washington.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Knowles Funeral Home in Port Washington.
James T. McLaughlin Sr.
BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for James T. McLaughlin Sr., who died Feb. 12, 2003, will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Burial will follow in White Chapel cemetery in Bennington.

Perley A. Colby
FAIRLEE — Perley A. Colby, 85, died July 15, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Newbury, the son of George and Clester Colby.
He was educated in Bradford schools and Kurn Hattin in Westminster.
He apprenticed as a plumber with Hammerstrom & Smith in Fairlee. Mr. Colby also worked as a maintenance man at Bonnie Oaks Resort in Fairlee and in Fitchburg, Mass. He later returned to Fairlee and started his own plumbing and heating company. At that time, he also became the Fairlee water system operator.
Mr. Colby was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in Germany as a cook and military policeman. He was assigned to guard German war prisoners at the Nuremburg Trials after World War II.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an associate member of the Lake Morey Protective Association. He was also a member of Mount Cube Lodge 10 in Orford, N.H., and was a former chief and 35-year member of the Fairlee Fire Department, retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known for his chicken barbecues.
Survivors include a son, Lance Colby, and a daughter, Bonnie Colby, both of Fairlee; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Fairlee Village cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
