Ruth M Clark

Ruth Mae Clark, 74, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Ruth was born in Washington, D.C., October 5, 1925, the daughter of John W. and Lillian E. (Russell) Yost. Ruth had been a resident of New Haven for the past 21 years, moving from Silver Springs, Maryland. Ruth was an active volunteer with RSVP, The Mary Johnson Children's Center and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving is her husband, Neri Clark of New Haven; one daughter, Janice (Clark) Neilson of Middlebury; one grandson, Daniel Neilson and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Neilson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 20, 1999 in St. Mary's Church in Middlebury. Rev. John McDermott officiated. Graveside committal services and burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in Middlebury.

Olive L. DeFelice

Olive L. DeFelice, 81, died Friday, November 19, 1999 at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, after a short illness.
She was born on May 9, 1918 in Tupper Lake, New York, daughter of Joseph and Genevieve (LaPorte) DeFelice.
She was a member of Moriah Fire Department Auxiliary in Moriah, New York.
Olive is survived by five sons, Leslie DeFelice of New York; Bernard DeFelice of New York; Gasper DeFelice of New York; Philip DeFelice of Florida; Donald DeFelice of New York; a daughter, Rena Trepanier of Vergennes; and their spouses; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Helstowski of New York; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest P. DeFelice in the early 70's and also by a son, Ernest P. DeFelice, Jr.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 22, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment was in South Moriah Cemetery in Moriah, New York following the service.

Chelsea M. Clark

Chelsea M. Clark, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Porter Medical Hospital in Middlebury.
She was born June 9, 1999 in Middlebury, the daughter of Michael and Crystal (Weeks) Clark.
Chelsea is survived by her parents, Michael and Crystal (Weeks) Clark of East Middlebury; paternal grandparents, Michael and Pauline Clark of Bristol; maternal grandparents, Leo and JoAnne Lessor of Middlebury; two uncles, Joshua Weeks of Middlebury; Steve Clark of Bristol; three aunts, Michele McCloy of Leicester, Missy Taylor of Brandon; Kristy Clark of Leicester.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment was in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.

Vernice A. Norris
Monkton, Vermont
Vernice A. Norris died November 20, 1999, with his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Hanson Norris by his side. His long courageous struggle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's is over.
He was born in Newport Center, Vermont, the son of Kenneth M. and Helen Buck Norris.
Vern was a dairy farmer in Monkton for over 40 years, retiring in 1994. Additionally, he was a charter member, life member and chief for 6 years, of the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a town lister. Vern's highest priority was family, assisting, participating, and supporting their life's endeavors. Hunting and fishing were a lifelong passion for Vern. He leaves a legacy of hard work, decency, and compassion for all those who knew him.
Vern is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Janet and James Crossman of Bristol; Gregory Norris of Essex; Brian and Tracy of Bristol; Sharon and Michael Weld of Berkshire; and his mother Helen Norris of Monkton; thirteen loving and supportive grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, all of whom Vern enjoyed immensely; nine brothers, Mahlon and Rachel of Starksboro; Winston and Mabel, Glen and Flora of Bristol; Jack and Maureen of Milford, Connecticut; Robert, Gary, and Kay, Terry and Diane of Shoreham; Peter and Delores and Richard and Norma of Monkton; four sisters, Norma and Donald Sheehan of Burlington, Anita and Ed Oberle of Monkton; Jean and Ted Konstantine of Clinton, Connecticut; and Dixie and Milton Bassette of Melbourne, Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Norris of South Carolina; two aunts, Crystal Rossier and Phyllis Smith of Derby, Vermont.
He was predeceased by a son, Roger, in January 1969, his father Kenneth in 1995, and brother Ken, Jr., in 1996.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at the Bristol Federated Church. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol.

Carroll L. Clark

Carroll Lynn Clark, 41, died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.
Mr. Clark was born in Burlington on November 24, 1958. He was the son of Clifford and Mabel (Webb) Clark. He grew up in Franklin and received his early education in local Franklin schools. He had been a resident of Brandon for many years. From 1978 until 1983 he lived in Enid, Oklahoma and worked as a Physical Therapy Aide at Baptist Hospital. He returned to Vermont and worked at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center as a Physical Therapy Aide until illness forced him to retire in August 1993. He had served as a volunteer for the Brandon Area Rescue Squad for several years.
Surviving is his mother Mabel B. Benoit, and his stepfather Frenchy Benoit of Brandon; one brother, David and his wife Valerie Clark of Franklin; one sister, Cheryl and her husband Joe Brutloski of Brandon; two stepbrothers, Fernand Benoit of Leicester and Bernard Benoit of Rutland; two stepsisters, Linda King and Ginger Gould, both of Brandon and special friends Paul and Betty Shedd, Terry Weeden and Rainey Corso. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Clifford Clark, in 1973 and two brothers, Donald J. Clark in 1983, and John A. Clark in 1988.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Reverend Robert Bove, Pastor of the Brandon Baptist Church officiated. Cremation followed the service.
A graveside committal service and burial will take place on Saturday, November 27, 1999 in the family lot at Fairfax Plain Cemetery in Fairfax, Vermont.

Kathryn A. Lyon

Kathryn A. Lyon, 83, died Sunday evening at her home in Brandon.
Mrs. Lyon was born in Summit, New Jersey on April 12, 1916. She was the daughter of George E. and Kathryn Ruth (Zimmerman) Allen. She was a graduate of Madison, New Jersey High School, Class of 1934. She received her degree from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Class of 1938. During college she was President of Student Government and also the YWCA. In 1944 she married Richard Harrison Lyon in Belmar, New Jersey. Mr. Lyon died in 1973. In earlier years she was the Manager for the Powhatan Hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She was very active in the Monmouth County, New Jersey Girl Scouts. She was instrumental in the founding of Camp Sacajawea for Girl Scouts, in Monmouth County. She grew up as a fourth generation Madisonian. She had been a resident of Brandon since 1967 moving here from Sea Girt, New Jersey. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and of the Church Alter Guild as well as The Women of St. Thomas. She was past President of both the Brandon Garden Club and the Monday Club. She had been a volunteer at the Brandon Thrift Shop. She had taught in the Elf Program at Neshobe Elementary School and loved the outdoors. She had also worked for several years at the Maple Museum in Pittsford.
Surviving are two brothers; Larry Allen of Brandon and F. Donald Allen of Boulder, Colorado; one sister, Winifred Reuschle of Brandon and her sister-in-law, with whom she shared her home, Jean S. Lyon of Brandon. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 29, 1999 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brandon. The Rev. Gordon Bardos, Rector, will officiate. A graveside committal service and burial will follow in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.
There are no public calling hours.

Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends at St. Thomas Church, Undercroft, for a time of fellowship and reflection.

Edward A. Van Sickle
Middlebury, Vermont
Edward Arlington Van Sickle died at Fletcher Allen Hospital on Sunday, November 21, 1999. He was formerly of New York City and Huntington, Long Island.
Mr. Van Sickle attended Juliard School of Music, studying voice and opera with Evan Evans and Ferderick Cohn. A Baritone, he studied and sang lead roles in Paris and Vienna, and for twenty years in Italy. There he sang various operas, throughout Italy and Malta. He also delighted audiences with famous American Songs, and sang for several years over Italian State Radio.
He dubbed Italian films into English, notably the voice of Alberto Sordi. Previously, he appeared in several films, including a minor role in "Cleopatra."
Mr. Van Sickle moved to Middlebury, Vermont in September, 1998.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Middlebury at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 27, 1999.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to charities for orphans and the poor.
Elizabeth M. Bristol
Bristol, Vermont
Elizabeth Moore Bristol, 89, passed away Monday, November 22, 1999 at the Bristol House.
She was born May 9, 1910 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of Fordyce and Eloise (Baker) Moore. She received her education in Middlebury schools, and completed a three year Nursing program in White Plains, New York. She worked for many years at Porter Hospital, and later worked in the infirmary at Middlebury College until her retirement in the mid 1970's.
She is survived by her daughters, Eloise Giard of Bridport and Judith Visconti of Middlebury; her brother, Frank Moore of Lexington, Kentucky; her half-sister, Virginia Kilty of Hawaii; five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, George Bristol.
