Roy L. Warley Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Roy L. Warley, 88, who died March 8, 2003, was held Wednesday in Summer Hill cemetery in Springfield.
The Rev. William Nelson, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Richard G. Gale
SALISBURY — Richard Gordon Gale, 69, died June 4, 2003, at his home with cancer.
He was born May 29, 1934, in Salisbury, the son of Bernard and Lillian (Anderson) Gale.
He graduated from Middlebury High School in 1952.
He married
Joyce Foster on Sept. 25, 1958, in Salisbury.
Mr. Gale was a master electrician and plumber.
He worked as a building supervisor at the old Brandon Training School, and later for Central Vermont Public Service Corp. in charge of the hydro operations at Silver Lake and Salisbury.
He was currently working as supervisor of building and maintenance for Camp Keewaydin at Lake Dunmore with more than 32 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 124th Artillery.
He served the town of Salisbury as school director to Middlebury Union High School District. He was a member and past master of St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge 25 F&AM, and an affiliate member and past master of Independence Lodge 10 in Orwell.
He belonged to Farmer Chapter 9 and Farmer’s Council 9 Royal Arch Masons. He had received the 33rd degree from the Scottish Rite Masons. He was also a member of American Legion Post 27 of Middlebury.
Mr. Gale was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his wife of Salisbury; two sons, Anthony Gale and David Gale, both of Salisbury; a daughter, Kimberley Lafave of Salisbury; two brothers, Bernard Gale of Coventry, R.I., and Arnold Gale of Salisbury; a sister, Madeline Ingerson of Poultney; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Maurice and Marshall Gale.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Salisbury with the Rev. John Gravetti, pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Holman cemetery.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Forrest Torrey
SHOREHAM — Forrest “Pa” Torrey, 85, died June 3, 2003.
He was born May 18, 1918, in Addison, the son of Merton and Ella Torrey.
He attended local schools and Montpelier Seminary Agricultural program.
He married
Iola Howe in 1939.
Mr. Torrey enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; his seven children; two brothers, Merton Torrey and Raymond Torrey; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Charles; a sister, Alveretta; and a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church in Addison. Burial will follow in Lakeview cemetery in Shoreham.

Jennie H. Pecor
WEST RUTLAND — Jennie H. Pecor, 87, of Rutland and former resident of West Rutland, died June 5, 2003, at Eden Park Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1916, in West Rutland, the daughter of Ladd and Scholatica Brytowski.
She was a former member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland, and participated in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Mrs. Pecor enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Pecor of Rochester, N.H., and William Pecor of Rutland; a daughter, Frances Sheldon of Rutland; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Pecor; two sisters, Josephine King and Stella Marchinkoski; three brothers, Stanley Brytowski, Sigismund Brytowski and Vincent Brytowski; and a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland. The Rev. Frank Warzocha, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.

PITTSFORD — The graveside service with military honors for Herman L. Butron, 95, who died Jan. 24, 2003, will be held Monday at 11:30 at St. Alphonsus cemetery in Pittsford.

POULTNEY — The graveside service for Margaret Greene, 82, who died Dec. 13, 2002, will be held today at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael’s cemetery in Poultney with the Rev. Adam Krempa, pastor, officiating.
Verona I. Snow Rites
The funeral service for Verona Iris Snow, 79, of Rutland, who died June 2, 2003, was held Friday at the Aldous Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Hackett, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Rutland, officiated. Burial followed in Riverside cemetery in Swanton with the Rev. Marquita Townsend, pastor of the Highgate Methodist Church, officiating.
Bearers were James Evans, Paul Snow and Brian Locke.

Leta M. Wade Rites
POULTNEY — The funeral service for Leta Mae Wade, 69, who died June 2, 2003, was held Friday at the United Baptist Church of Poultney with the Rev. Stephen Payne, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Poultney cemetery.
Organist was Cathy VanGuilder and soloist was Deena Howard.
Bearers were Robert Parker, Dave Spooner, Russel Wade, Steven Wade, Arron Kerber and Norm Parker. Honorary bearers were Charlie Blair, Joe Blair, Ray Manning and Dick Turner.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
James C. Stelzer Rites
EAST POULTNEY — The memorial service for James C. Stelzer, 48, who died May 31, 2003, was held Thursday at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Krempa, pastor of St. Raphael’s Church, officiated.

Francis R. Betit Sr. Rites
HAMPTON, N.Y. — The funeral Mass for Francis R. Betit Sr., 63, who died June 1, 2003, was celebrated Thursday at St. Raphael’s Church in Poultney. The Rev. Adam Krempa, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in Rosewood cemetery in White Creek.
Organist was Cathy VanGuilder.
Bearers were Steven Betit, Francis Betit Jr., Timothy Betit, David Jones, Henry Panoushek and Michael Daigle.

R. Curtis Lamberton
BETHEL — R. Curtis Lamberton, 88, died June 5, 2003, at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction of renal cancer.
He was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Cabot, the son of Raymond and Victoria (Nardini) Lamberton.
He attended Lyndon Normal School, the University of Vermont, and later received his master’s degree from St. Michael’s College.
He married
Kathryn Munn in 1939. She died in 1990. He later married
Dorothy Hatch Johnson in 1991. She died in October 2002.
Mr. Lamberton worked on the family farm/sawmill, and for the Civilian Conservation Corps, building the highway through Groton State Forest. He taught school in East Montpelier and Bradford Academy, and served as assistant principal at Bradford Academy. He was a gear shaper in Springfield until moving to Bethel, where he became principal of Whitcomb High School, teaching courses and serving as a guidance counselor. He also operated an antique shop in Bethel, and retired as head of the guidance department for the Hartford School District.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and served as a boy scout leader and little league coach in Bradford. He also was a member of the Bethel Rotary, United Church of Christ, Bradford Senior Center, the Orange County Retired Teacher’s Association and served as a lister in Bethel. He was active in the Presbyterian Church in Yankeetown, Fla.
Mr. Lamberton enjoyed fly-fishing, carpentry, woodworking and furniture refinishing.
Survivors include a son, R. Scott Lamberton of Bethel; a daughter, Carla Hodgdon of Bethel; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Philip; and a sister, Theresa McCarty.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Bethel with the Rev. Richard Dumont, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Durant cemetery in Lower Cabot.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
