Edward J. Frankiewicz
SAN DIEGO — Cmdr. Edward J. Frankiewicz, 84, died May 9, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 19, 1919, in Rutland, Vt., the son of Stephen and Julia Frankiewicz.
He graduated from Rutland High School in 1936 and Bay Path Institute in Springfield, Mass. He also attended Brown University in Providence, R.I.
He married
Betty Parchman on July 5, 1946, in Patuxent River, Md.
Mr. Frankiewicz was a pilot with Pan American Airways, Africa LTD, before becoming a naval aviator in 1942. He was decorated for naval service in World War II, Korea and Antarctica. He retired with the rank of commander.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Craig Frankiewicz; two daughters, Susan Sinclair and Nancy Shultz; two sisters, Ida Taylor of Rutland and Irene Gilbert of Brattleboro, Vt.; two brothers, Ted Frankiewicz of Rutland and Julian Frankiewicz of Middlebury, Vt., and four grandchildren.
The graveside service was held May 14, 2003, in El Camino Memorial Park.

Dorris Buecher Waterbury
Dorris Buecher Waterbury, age 86, of Wellington, Fla., wife of the late Gilbert F. Waterbury, died on May 25, 2003, in her residence. Dorris was born in Rutland, Vt., and graduated from Bradford College. She was owner of Dorris Buecher Real Estate in Stratford, Conn., for 40 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nephele Wing Domencich and Thomas Domencich of Hobe Sound, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Donna Buecher of Milford, Conn.; two granddaughters, Schuyler Riley of the Wellington Polo Club, Wellington, Fla., and Tiffany Buecher of New York City, N.Y.; niece Bonnie Sterns of Rutland, Vt.; cousin Brigadier General Leonard F. Wing and his wife Mary Wing; and several nieces and nephews. Her uncle was Major General Leonard “Red” Wing, Adjutant General to General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003, from 5 to 6 p.m., with a Funeral Service at 6 p.m. at Palms West Funeral Home, Royal Palm Beach, Fla. A memorial service will be held in Vermont at a later date.
Harvey L. Moelter
STILLWATER, Minn. — Harvey Lee “Ole” Moelter, 83, died May 27, 2003.
He was born Nov. 10, 1919.
Mr. Moelter and his brother operated Moelter Construction Co. Inc. for 45 years.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was a lifelong member of the Elks Club 179 and served as past master of the Masonic Lodge 1.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, LaVonne; three children, Dee Ann Read, Kevin Moelter and Randi Moelter of Rutland, Vt.; three sisters, Ione Dulin, Pearl Johnson and Dollye Muckenthaler; many grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary Moelter; a brother, Roy Moelter; and a sister, Ruby Pauley.
A celebration of his life will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stillwater. Burial will take place in Fairview cemetery in Stillwater.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Stillwater.
Elizabeth A. Brough
CASTLETON — The graveside service for Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Brough, 68, who died April 7, 2003, will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Hillside cemetery in Castleton. The Rev. Charles Danielson, administrator of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Castleton, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Mildred N. Grover Rites
EAST CLARENDON — The graveside service for Mildred N. (Pockette) Grover, 81, who died May 24, 2003, was held Thursday in East Clarendon cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Mattison, assistant pastor of Christ the King Church in Rutland, officiated.
American Legion Post 87 of West Rutland provided military honors. Walley Pratt presented the flag to the family. Danney Loree sounded taps.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
George A. Hayes Rites
BRANDON — The funeral Mass for George Arthur “Bucky” Hayes, 49, who died May 25, 2003, was celebrated Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon with the Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary’s cemetery in Brandon.
Pianist and soloist was Bonnie Johnson.
American Legion Post 55 of Brandon provided military honors.
Pallbearers were Gregory Humiston, Andy Hayes, Matt Hayes, Mark Humiston, Bryan Humiston, Dan McDonough and Eddy Hayes.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Christian A. Dunklee
QUECHEE — Christian Albert Dunklee, 40, died May 28, 2003, at his home.
He was born Nov. 3, 1962, in Boston, the son of Alan and Linda (Martin) Dunklee.
He graduated from Hartford High School in 1980.
He worked with his father at Dunklee Excavating for the past 25 years.
Mr. Dunklee enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and four-wheeling.
Survivors include his parents of Hartland; two sisters, Heidi Dunklee of Hartland and Jennifer Dunklee of White River Junction; a brother, Alan Dunklee Jr. of Quechee; paternal grandparents, Edward and Ruth Dunklee of Beverly Hills, Fla.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; a niece; and two nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ in Hartford. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in West Brattleboro cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction.

Fred P. Spencer
HARTLAND — Fred P. Spencer, 83, died May 28, 2003, at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, N.H.
He was born May 27, 1920, in Orford, N.H., the son of Elmer and Tiny (Partridge) Spencer.
He graduated from Orford High School in 1939 and attended business school in Manchester, N.H.
He married
Carolyn Cole on Oct. 9, 1947, in Bridgewater.
Mr. Spencer worked at the Windsor Foundry for 15 years until it closed, then worked for the Vermont Highway Department for a short time before going to work at Cone Automatic Machine Co. in Windsor, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Model A Ford Club of America, and had restored several antique cars.
He enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Debra Hart and Linda Martin, and a son, Albee Spencer, all of Hartland; a brother, Watson Spencer of Norton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. Burial will follow in Hartland Village cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sylvia L. Grover
BELLOWS FALLS — Sylvia L. Grover, 78, died May 27, 2003, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Brattleboro.
She was born May 16, 1925, the daughter of Alfred and Dolores (Martel) LaFlam.
In the 1980s, she spearheaded a movement by female workers at Book Press in Brattleboro for equal pay for women.
She enjoyed flowers, reading, playing card games and crocheting. She made afghans and baby blankets and was known for her cooking, especially her bread making.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Perkins of Charlestown, N.H., and Dorothy Read of Bellows Falls; two sons, Floyd Grover of Brattleboro and Michael Grover of Halifax; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Grover, in 1996; five brothers, Alex LaFlam, Earl LaFlam, Alfred LaFlam, William LaFlam and Thomas LaFlam; and four sisters, Elda Vogel, Georgiana Nadeau, Janet Fisher and Leola Kerylow.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the home of her son, Floyd Grover in Brattleboro.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Eden Park Nursing Home, Brattleboro, 05301, in care of the Hospice Room.
Dorothea F. Peckham
BENNINGTON — Dorothea F. Peckham, 85, died May 29, 2003, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.
She was born July 26, 1917, in Bennington, the daughter of James and Ann (McGuire) Fox.
She received her education at St. Francis de Sales Academy and later attended St. Joseph’s Business College.
She married
Robert Peckham on July 27, 1944, in Bennington.
Mrs. Peckham worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, N.Y., and retired from Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, N.Y.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of Bennington; a daughter, Ann Stopera of Cohoes, N.Y.; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd Fox, William Fox and Joseph Fox.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. with a Mass. The Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. The wake service will be offered at 2 p.m.

Raymond J. Harwood
NORTH BENNINGTON — Raymond Jennison Harwood, 82, died May 29, 2003, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Bethlehem, Pa.
He was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Shaftsbury, the son of Rupert and Mabel (Montgomery) Harwood.
He graduated from North Bennington High School.
He married
Florence Lindsey on Sept. 8, 1945, in Arlington.
Mr. Harwood worked at Eagle Square in Shaftsbury, and later worked for the Department of Forests and Parks as a parks regional maintenance supervisor from 1967 to 1990.
He served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II, and was a prisoner of war for two years. He later served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1967.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and served as commander of the Ex-POW Vermont Chapter from 1994 to 2001. He was an American Red Cross volunteer.
Mr. Harwood enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry.
Survivors include three daughters, Eileen Harwood of St. Paul, Minn., Lynne Foerster of Orefield, Pa., and Lee Curtiss of Grand Isle; a son, Paul Harwood of Tunbridge; a sister, Elizabeth King of Shaftsbury; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Victor Harwood.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Shaftsbury Methodist Church with the Rev. Deborah Estey officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in South Shaftsbury cemetery.
