SARAH P. HEFFLON
ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Sarah P. Hefflon, 97, a lifelong resident of this area passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 in the Holiday House Nursing Facility. She was born in Franklin, Vt. on June 19, 1904, the daughter of Charles W. and Louise (Tittemore) Peckham. In July of 1939 she married Carroll F. Hefflon, who predeceased her on Nov. 8, 1992.
Sarah was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Franklin County area. She became a member of St. Paul's United Methodist church in 1939 where she was a member of the Phi Alpha Class and the United Methodist Women Circle 1. She also belonged to the Autonoe Club, Service Seekers Circle of Kings Daughters, Welden Chapter 79, Order of Eastern Star, and Franklin County and Vermont Retired Teachers Associations.
Survivors include two nieces and a nephew, Nora and Victor Howe of Brattleboro, Carolyn and Paul Shively of Van Nuys, Calif., and Andrew and Lynn Urquhart of Newark, Del. She also leaves very dear friends, Dick and Kay Hersey, and Bill and Helen Tuscany, all of St. Albans.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Reverend Oren Lane officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the family lot in Highgate Center Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider, St. Paul's United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 11 Church St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
LINDA JOYCE RYEA
ST. ALBANS - Linda Joyce Ryea, 54, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2002, in her residence at 292 Lake St. in St. Albans City.
Linda was born in Swanton, April 17, 1947, the daughter of the late Medor and Grace (Barratt) Murray. She attended Swanton schools and on, June 15 1968, married Vernon Ryea who survives her.
In addition to her husband Vernon of St. Albans she leaves her son Vernon Ryea Jr. and his wife Lynn of Highgate; a sister, Arlene Parks and her husband Richard of Swanton; a brother, Medor "Kenny" Murray and his wife Elmira of Sheldon; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services and interment will take place Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002 at 11 a.m. from the family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Father John J. Meagher, SSE, Pastor of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton and St. Louis Parish in Highgate Center will officiate. Gifts in Linda's memory may be made to the, Franklin County Home Health Agency-Hospice Program, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans 05478. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidder Memorial Home in Swanton.
PATRICIA JANE HOUSTON, RN
SWANTON / BURLINGTON - Patricia Jane Houston, 61, a native of Swanton and a resident of the Franklin County area for most of her lifetime died Saturday evening, Feb. 23, 2002, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
She was born in Swanton, Jan. 28, 1941, the daughter of the late Floyd and Evelyn (Vosburg) Letourneau. She graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Swanton and received her nurse's training and Registered Nurse Degree in Montreal, Que., Canada. On Oct. 1, 1983, she married William Houston Jr. who survives her.
In earlier years Pat was associated with various children's psychiatric hospitals and more recently worked as a Registered Nurse for the State of Vermont Department of Corrections in their St. Albans Facility until illness forced her to retire.
In addition to William Jr., Pat also leaves a son, William John Houston III both of Burlington, and one brother, Rene Letourneau and his wife Judy of Waterville as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Interment will take place later in St. Mary's Cemetery in Swanton.
MARION M. FRAZIER
HINESBURG/WESTPORT, Conn. -- Marion M. Frazier, 73, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Star Farm Nursing Home in Burlington surrounded by her loving family.
Marion was born on Jan. 26, 1929, in Norwalk, Conn., the daughter of Basil and Florence (DeMartino) Migliarese.
She was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Westport, Conn., and was the Chapter Historian of Westport. Marion was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and was a member of the Westport Police Athletic Club. She was a volunteer for the Westport Police Dept. for disabled parking, the AARP, of the Citizens of Wesport Club, and of the Irish Gaelic Club. Mrs. Frazier was a very active member of St. Luke's Parish in Westport and a very active advocate for the Disabled.
Marion is survived by her daughters Deena DeMartino and her husband Richard Rivers of Colchester, Janet Hartigan and her husband Michael Reedy of LaJolla, Calif., and Kathy Cassidy and her husband Frank of Monkton; by her grandchildren Renee Sheltra and her friend Richard Rose, and Bert Sheltra, Lisa Murdock, and Michael Hartigan; her great-grandchildren Alissa, Alec, Cagney and Courtney; and her brothers John Migliarese and his wife Joan of Westport, Conn., and Frank Migliarese of Norwalk, Conn.; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Joshua Hamblett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Catholic Church in Westport, Conn. Memorials may be made to the Marion Frazier Memorial Fund, c/o Janet Hartigan, 7315 Draper Ave., Lajolla, Calif. Visiting hours will be Monday, Feb. 25, from 1-9 p.m. in the Harding Funeral Home in Westport, Conn. Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
QUENTIN HENRY CAMERON
GRAND ISLE -- Quentin Henry Cameron, 81, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Quentin was born Nov. 10, 1920, in North Hero, the son of Gilbert and Genieve (LaVigne) Cameron. He was a lifelong Island resident.
On Feb. 18, in 1946, he married Lenora Lambert in South Hero. Lenora predeceased Quentin in 1991.
Mr. Cameron was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Isle.
In his early years, Quentin owned a farm in Grand Isle.
He had been employed as a superintendent for Murray Construction and for Wright and Morrissey for many years.
He is survived by his sons David, Rod and his wife Terri, and John and his wife Deanna, all of Grand Isle; and by his daughter Emily Vaupel and her husband Michael of Colchester; by his grandchildren Tucker, Beau and Chad Cameron, Ethan and Devan Vaupel and Megan Elizabeth Cameron; by his brother Paul and his wife Lorraine of Alburg; his sister Eileen Draper and her husband Herb of Rutland; and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Lenora, Mr. Cameron was predeceased by his brothers Ralph, Darwin and Holland Cameron and his sister Alice Fisk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Isle.
Memorials may be made to either the Grand Isle Rescue, P.O. Box 79, Grand Isle, Vt. 05458, or to the Grand Isle Fire Dept., P.O. Box 50, Grand Isle, Vt. 05458. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
DOROTHY LOUISE KING
MILTON -- Dorothy Louise King, 82, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Burlington Health & Rehab in Burlington.
Dorothy was born in Burlington on March 2, 1919, the daughter of George and Mildred (Bushey) Cobb.
She was married to Stanley King on Sept. 28, 1940, in Burlington. Stanley predeceased her on Feb. 14, 1978.
Dorothy is survived by her son Gary King and his wife Linda of Milton. By her daughter Sharon Marshall and her husband Dean of Milton; by her grandchildren Adam King, Luke and Nathan White, and Andrew Marshall; and by her great-grandson Tyler White, all of Milton. She is also survived by her brother Donald Cobb of St. George; her sister Patricia Pahl of Bristol, Conn.; and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Stanley, Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth, Carl, Bernard, Gerald, and Robert Cobb, and by a sister Mildred Welch.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milton by Fr. Ronald Soutiere. Burial followed in St. Ann's Cemetery.
Visiting hours were held on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Christian Wake service at 8 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
LESLIE BAILEY
MILTON/HARTFORD, Conn. -- Leslie Bailey, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the Birchwood Terrace Health Care in Burlington.
Leslie was born in Berlin, Conn. on June 4, 1916, the son of Carlos and Margery (Sugenhime) Bailey.
He had worked as an employment counselor for the State of Connecticut.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
On March 30, 1946, he married Esther Penfield LeGeyt.
Leslie is survived by his daughter Genie Soboslai and her husband John of Milton; by his grandchildren Beth Soboslai of Milton and Jason Soboslai of Missouri; by sisters Joan O'Brien and her husband Carol of Sutton, Que., and Mae Conley and her husband Norman of Sutton, Vt.; by his sister-in-law Gladys Zimmerman of Glastonbury, Conn.; and by many nieces and nephews. Leslie was predeceased by his wife Esther in Feb. of 1997; by his father Carlos, his mother Margery, his step-father Claude Bengston and a brother Robert Bengston.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery in Hartford, Conn. in the spring.

LENA M. GUAY
LARGO, Fla. -- Lena M. Guay, 78, of Largo, Fla. died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Palm Garden of Pinellas, Largo. She was born in Claremont, N.H., and came here in 1994 from Dunstable, Mass.
She was the town clerk for the Dunstable Town Hall. She was Catholic and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3291, Pepperell, Mass., and past state president of the department of Massachusetts Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia A. Chaney of Geneseo, Ill.; two sisters, Irene Knowles, from Brunswick, Maine, and Hazel Renaud of Morrisville; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Guay, who passed away Oct. 26, 2001.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home. The inurnment will take place at Bay Pines Veteran Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Fla.
