WINDSOR — The graveside service for Ruth E. Hurlburt, 102, who died March 22, 2003, will be held Thursday, May 22, at 1 p.m. in Saxtons River cemetery.

DORSET — The memorial service for Charlotte Stannard Brooks, 74, who died May 3, 2003, was held Wednesday at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert with the Rev. James Grey, pastor, officiating.
Organist was Jane Wood.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack and Jeanne Clark, Robert and Gail Hopkins, John and Fran Kardas, Gerrit and Ellie Kouwenhoven, Bill and Mary McFall, Ken and Arlene Seddon, Cap and Millie Smith, Bob and Alison Stannard, and Dennis and Marge Sverduk.

Velma E. Giddings Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Velma E. Giddings, 83, who died Feb. 15, 2003, was held Thursday in Oakland cemetery in Springfield. The Rev. Thomas Hiltsley, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiated.

Frederick A. Dufresne Sr.
BENNINGTON — The graveside service for Frederick A. Dufresne Sr., 96, who died May 11, 2003, was held Wednesday in Scottsville cemetery in Danby with the Rev. Michael DeMasi officiating.

BENNINGTON —The graveside service for Richard R. Rumboldt Sr., 81, who died Feb. 6, 2003, was held Wednesday in Woodford cemetery in Woodford.

READING — A private family graveside service for Ruby D. Hill, 80, who died Nov. 18, 2002, was held Wednesday in Elmwood cemetery in Northfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Philomene Ramm
Philomene Monette Ramm, 97, a resident of Clearwater, Florida, and former resident of Rutland, died Saturday, December 28, 2002, at Mountain View Center Genesis ElderCare.
She was born in Rutland on March 24, 1905, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (LaPorte) Monette.
Mrs. Ramm attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada as a music major and was a graduate of the Eastman School of Dental Hygiene in Rochester, N.Y.
She practiced dental hygiene in Yonkers, N.Y., Bennington, Vt., and Albany, N.Y.
Mrs. Ramm retired to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1966, and to Clearwater, Florida in 1974.
“Phil” has been an ardent violinist throughout her lifetime and has played in many different string groups and orchestras.
Surviving is a niece, Jeanne Patch of Rutland, Vt., and two grandnieces, Charlene Patch of Rutland, Vt., and Nancy Coan of Florence, Vt. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl H. Ramm, M.D., who died March 15, 1983.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Rutland. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Rutland, Vt.
There will be no calling hours.

Mary M. McLaughlin
WEST RUTLAND — Mary Margaret McLaughlin, 82, died Dec. 30, 2002, at Haven Health Center in Rutland.
She was born June 9, 1920, in Rutland, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Reardon) Capeless.
She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1937.
She worked as a switchboard operator at Central Vermont Public Service Corp. for 20 years.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of St. Bridget’s Church and a former member of the Sodality at St. Bridget’s Church.
Survivors include a son Edward McLaughlin of West Rutland; a daughter, Mary Kantor of Batavia, Ill.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward McLaughlin, in 1981; and a sister, Frances Lenfest.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Church. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Bridget’s cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Margery H. Warren
FAIR HAVEN — Margery Hyde Warren, 88, a former resident of Fair Haven, died Dec. 30, 2002 at Pine Hill Assisted Living in Lenox, Mass.

Iva M. Hewitt
UNION, S.C. — Iva Mae Hewitt, 69, died Dec. 30, 2002, at Wallace Thomson Hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Waterbury Center, Vt., the daughter of Oscar and Beatrice (Wrisley) Durkee.
She retired as cafeteria manager from Kmart stores.
She was a member of Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Judy Brown of Greer, Peggy Van Lew and Doreen Bushey, both of Castleton, Vt., and Sally Adams of Rockwell, N.C.; three sons, Fred Barlow of South Deerfield, Mass., Wesley Barlow of Granville, N.Y., and Rod Hewitt of Cross Keys; two sisters, Phyllis White of Bomoseen, Vt., and Mary Amerio of Waterbury, Vt.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Humes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Arthur W. Westcott
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Arthur William “Billy” Westcott, 31, died Dec. 27, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born June 18, 1970, the son of Douglas and Pamela Westcott.
He graduated from Valley High School in Las Vegas in 1988.
He married
Sarah Coleman in December 1993, in Las Vegas.
Mr. Westcott was a self-employed auto body repairman.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Nicholas, and two daughters, Samantha and Caitlyn, all of Las Vegas; his father of Brandon, Vt.; a brother, Matthew Westcott of Las Vegas; a sister, Ann Falkensammer of Las Vegas; grandparents, Ronald and Beverly Lent of Brandon, Vt., and Virginia Lappee of De Bary, Fla.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother in 2000; and his grandfather, Arthur Westcott in 1968.
The memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Las Vegas.

IRA — The memorial service for Robert L. King Sr., 72, who died Dec. 24, 2002, was held Monday at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford with the Rev. James Lawrence, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford, officiating.

Gloria J. Hazen Rites
POULTNEY — The funeral service for Gloria Jean Hazen, 61, who died Dec. 25, 2002, was held Monday at the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven with the Rev. Gordon Naser, pastor of the United Church of West Rutland, officiating. Cremation followed the service. A private burial will take place at a later date in West Hartford cemetery.
Members of Fair Haven American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 49 held a service Sunday at the funeral home with Terry Carruth, unit president, and Lue Brosseau, chaplain, officiating.

Bertha Mae Ives
BARRE — Bertha M. Ives of the Tilden House in Barre, died December 27, 2002, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin, Vt., surrounded by her family. She was 85.
Mrs. Ives was born in Lowell, Vt., February 25, 1917, the daughter of Lester and Clara (Martin) Hoadley. She grew up and attended schools in Johnson, Vt.
She married
Roger C. Ives on January 23, 1935, in Johnson and they resided there for 19 years. Mr. and Mrs. Ives began to raise a family of three, plus they were caretakers for their parents and nieces and nephews at the time, and she worked part-time at Jackson’s Quality Market.
In 1954, her husband had an opportunity to drive a truck for St. Johnsbury Trucking in Bellows Falls, Vt., so they moved to a neighboring community, Drewsville, N.H., where they made their home for over 30 years. During many of those years, Bertha worked part-time at the Drewsville General Store. She enjoyed her work and the opportunity to talk on a regular basis with the many fine people who lived in and around that small community. After retiring in 1984 and wanting to be closer to their family, they moved to East Montpelier, where they lived until 1994. During the past 9 years, Mrs. Ives has lived at the Tilden House in Barre, since the death of her husband on June 17, 1993.
Mrs. Ives was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her love found its way into the hearts of all who knew her. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and embroidering for her loved ones.
Mrs. Ives was a devoted member of both the St. Joseph Parish in Walpole, N.H., and St. Monica Parish in Barre, Vt. Mrs. Ives was also active in the St. Johnsbury Ladies Club and was a Past President. While living in Drewsville, she was active in the Senior Citizen organization in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
Her husband and their son Roger preceded her in death. Mrs. Ives had four brothers, Martin, Ernest, Burt, Perley, and one sister, Mary who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Arlene Pariseau and her husband, Hector of Rutland, Vt.; Rebecca Oakes and her husband, Walter of Barre, Vt.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Monica Church in Barre. Later interment will be in St. Theresa’s cemetery in Hyde Park.
There will be no calling hours.
