Laura M. Gregory
SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Laura May Gregory, 86, of Floral City, Fla., and former resident of Springfield, who died March 1, 2003, in Florida, will be held Wednesday, May 28, at 4 p.m. in Pine Grove cemetery in North Springfield.
She was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Springfield, the daughter of J. Leslie and Grace (Bibens) Giddings.
She graduated from Springfield High School and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont.
She married
Forrest Gregory on May 4, 1939. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Baptist Church in North Springfield and the church choir.
She enjoyed gardening, baking and horse racing.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Scofield of Michigan; a son, James Gregory of California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Lucien.

Thelma E. Mark
SAXTONS RIVER — The graveside service for Thelma Elizabeth Holton Mark, 85, of Surf City, N.C., and former resident of Saxtons River, who died March 18, 2003, in Wilmington, N.C., will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Saxtons River cemetery.
A reception will follow at the home of Agnes Johnson in Bellows Falls.
She was born Oct. 2, 1917, in Northfield, Mass., the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (LaBelle) Holton.
She attended schools in Northfield.
She worked at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River and as a housekeeper for the Eisner family.
Mrs. Mark was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, shell collecting and karaoke.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Brinson of Holly Ridge, N.C.; two sons, Roy Mark of Springfield and Arthur Mark of Surf City, N.C.; a brother, Thomas Holton; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two nieces and two nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Mark; a son, Curtis Mark; and a grandson.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.
Lowell H. Parker Rites
PROCTORSVILLE — The graveside service for Lowell H. Parker, 97, who died April 21, 2003, was held Monday in Hillcrest cemetery in Proctorsville.
The Black River LaFayette Lodge of Masons officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Ludlow.
Roger W. Walker Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Roger W. Walker, 72, who died Jan. 25, 2003, was held Tuesday in the Gill and Walker cemetery in Springfield.
The Rev. William Scherwerts, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Lawrence M. Wilder Rites
LONDONDERRY — The graveside service for Lawrence M. Wilder, 80, who died Jan. 20, 2003, was held Monday in Glebeview cemetery in Londonderry with Earl Bishop officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Chester.
Jeanette L. Caruso
GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Jeanette L. Caruso, 92, died May 11, 2003, at Glens Falls Hospital.
She was born May 12, 1910, the daughter of Albert and Rose (Melita) Libert.
She was the proprietor of Ritz Diner and Recreation in Granville for many years.
Mrs. Caruso was a member of Mettowee Senior Citizens, the Rocketts Bowling team, Catholic Daughters of America and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Cae of Granville and Catherine Waxman of San Raphael, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Caruso; two sisters, Lucy Comanzo and Anne Esperti; and a granddaughter.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home.
Margaret McNelley
GRANVILLE, N.Y. — The memorial service for Margaret McNelley, who died Dec. 22, 2002, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Granville.
The Rev. William Johnstone will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.
Florence C. O’Connell
Florence C. O’Connell, 92, died May 13, 2003, at Eden Park Nursing Home.
She was born June 13, 1910, in Rutland, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Moran) O’Connell.
She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy.
She worked for the state of Vermont for many years.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Church.
Survivors include a brother, Francis O’Connell of Portland, Maine; a niece; and two nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, George O’Connell.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus cemetery in Pittsford.
There will be no calling hours.

Sister Dorothy E. Clemente
Sister Dorothy Elizabeth Clemente (formerly Sister Frances Therese), 84, of Rutland died May 13, 2003, at Mont Marie Health Care Center in Holyoke, Mass.
She was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Rutland, to Ralph and Jennie (Fiorello) Clemente.
She attended Rutland public schools and Mount St. Joseph Academy before entering the Sisters of St. Joseph on Sept. 8, 1942. She was finally professed on Aug. 23, 1948. Sister Clemente received a bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Joseph the Provider and did her graduate work at Ohio State University.
Sister Clemente taught at elementary schools in Bellows Falls, Rutland, Brattleboro, Fair Haven and Bennington for 41 years. She also taught religious education classes in these locations.
In her retirement, she had charge of dispersing altar breads to parishes throughout the diocese and was a member of the prayer ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She was also instrumental in helping to build churches in Kentucky and Texas through the Catholic Church Extension Society.
Survivors include a sister, Joyce Napolitano of Holyoke; and her Sisters in religion, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Mass.
She was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount St. Joseph Convent.
Friends may call at Mount St. Joseph Convent Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A wake service will be offered at 11 a.m.

Florence I. McIntosh
Florence Ivy McIntosh, 81, of Rutland died May 13, 2003, at her home.
She was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Palmerton, Pa., the daughter of John Russell and Ivy (Noll) Seitz.
She graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mrs. McIntosh was a guidance counselor at Middlebury Union High School.
She was a member of the Vermont State Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist.
Survivors include five daughters, Joan McIntosh of Rutland, Patricia McIntosh of Melrose, Mass., Susan Schultz of Bennington, Bonnie McIntosh-Wildes of Toronto and Laurie Mearns of Stephentown, N.Y.; a sister, June Dahlstrom of Fairfax, Va.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John McIntosh; a daughter, Nancy Leake; and a brother, John Russell Seitz.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Rhoda M. Ripley
Rhoda M. Ripley, 86, of Rutland Town died May 13, 2003, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 8, 1917, in Pawtucket, R.I., the daughter of Herbert and Catherine (Murray) McClentic.
Mrs. Ripley was a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ. She volunteered at the Community Cupboard and Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her husband, George Ripley of Rutland Town; three sons, Bruce Ripley of Richmond, Va., Kenneth Ripley of Matawan, N.J., and David Ripley of Barre; two daughters, Susan Ripley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Beverly Ripley of Rutland; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ Chapel with the Rev. Robert Boutwell, pastor of the Pawlet Community Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
