Katheryn S. Jacobs
SPRINGFIELD — Katheryn Slade Jacobs, 53, died April 15, 2003, at her home with cancer.
She was born April 15, 1950, in Springfield, the daughter of H. Harold and Shirley (Blodgett) Slade.
She graduated from Springfield High School in 1968 and Gorham Beauty Academy in Schenectady, N.Y., in 1969.
She married
Ralph Jacobs on Sept. 14, 1968, in Springfield.
Mrs. Jacobs worked as a receptionist for Bryant Grinder Corp. for three years, and later for the Springfield school system for 14 years. Most recently, she worked as a paraeducator at Union Street School for several years. She also worked as an outreach specialist with HCRS and NFI, and as a group leader in the HCRS summer integration program.
She received the Outstanding Citizenship Award at Green Mountain Girls State in 1967.
She was a member of the Springfield Hospital Auxiliary and was voted Volunteer of the Year in 1993. She was also active in the Girl Scouts and PTA.
She enjoyed York Beach, Maine.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Seth; a daughter, Sarah; two brothers, Bill and Jeff Slade, both of Springfield; five sisters, Joyce Strom of Sarasota, Fla., and Tiverton, R.I., Barb Bromley of Claremont, N.H., Sherry Forrest, Paula Torres and Judy Hebert, all of Springfield; an aunt and uncle; many nieces and nephews; and three cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; and by a nephew.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ. The graveside committal service and burial will follow in Oakland cemetery.
A gathering for friends and family will take place at the Church of Christ following the service.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Elizabeth A. Hall
WINDSOR — Elizabeth Alice “Lally” Hall, 90, died April 13, 2003, at Mount Ascutney Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Windsor, the daughter of Walter and Alice (Weston) Blanchard.
She graduated from Windsor High School in 1931.
She married
Henry Hall on Nov. 17, 1933, in Windsor.
Mrs. Hall worked as a waitress at Mountain View House in Whitefield, N.H., and later worked at the Windsor High School cafeteria, Cone Automatic Machine Co., Windsor Machine Products and the Veterans Administration Hospital.
She was a member of Old South Congregational Church, and was active in Friendly Circle and Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed rummage sales and flower arranging.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Cogan of Kenosha, Wis.; three sons, David Hall of Quogue, Long Island, N.Y., Malcolm Hall of Huntington and Douglas Hall of Windsor; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1999, four brothers and one sister.
The funeral service will be held Monday, May 12, at 11 a.m., at the Old South Congregational Church with the Rev. Amanda Lape-Freeberg officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Ascutney cemetery. A reception will follow at the church.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.

Lucille Bresette
BELLOWS FALLS — Lucille Bresette, 79, died April 14, 2003, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 20, 1924, in Barre, the daughter of Delina and William Bresette.
She received training as a nurse’s aide and moved to Bellows Falls in 1955. She worked at Graves Nursing Home and later at Golec Nursing Home until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls, the Franciscans and the Polish-American Club. She was a volunteer at the Greater Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Town Crier, Parks Place and Our Place Drop-In Center. She also served on the board of Our Place for many years.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 23, at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls. Burial will be private in St. Charles cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.

Patrick W. O’Brien
BENNINGTON — Patrick W. O’Brien, 85, died April 15, 2003, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.
He was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Manchester, Mass., the son of Patrick and Hazel (Scott) O’Brien.
He received his education in the Manchester and New York City schools, and later graduated from Adelphi University with a degree in engineering.
He married
Mary O’Holloran on July 19, 1941, in New York City.
Mr. O’Brien worked for American Totalisator Co., where he traveled extensively to various racetracks throughout the East Coast. He later worked as a substitute teacher at Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II as a weatherman.
He was a member of the Hale Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Bennington Elks Lodge 567, and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1332 and American Legion Post 13. Mr. O’Brien served as a volunteer at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the Bennington Tutorial Center and as a driver for the Green Mountain Chapter American Red Cross in Bennington.
Survivors include his wife of Bennington; two daughters, Marilyn Klink of Denver, Pa., and Patricia O’Brien of Norfolk, Mass.; a brother, Jack Lufkin of California; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. with the funeral Mass. Burial will take place Tuesday, April 22, at noon in the cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, Long Island, N.Y.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The wake service will be offered during the afternoon.
All members of the Bennington Elks Club are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m. to conduct their service.

Diana L. Moore
AUGUSTA, Ga. — Diana Lynn Moore, 46, a former resident of the Upper Valley, died April 14, 2003.
She was born Dec. 17, 1956, in Lebanon, N.H., the daughter of Milton and Madaline (Stearns) Twiss.
She graduated from Hartford (Vt.) High School in 1974.
She worked as a cashier at various stores in the Upper Valley before moving to Augusta.
She was a U.S. Army veteran.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include her mother of Wilder, Vt.; two brothers, Francis Twiss of Danielsville and Dean Twiss of Calhan, Colo.; six sisters, Judy Sears of White River Junction, Vt., Lucy McCoy of Rutland, Vt., Anita Pease of Calhan, Colo., Elaine Southard of Liverpool, N.Y., Rebecca Melendy and Roberta Smith, both of Wilder, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father in 1969; and a brother, Larry Twiss, in 1940.
Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, Vt. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hartford cemetery in White River Junction.

Dorothy Sweet
POWNAL — The graveside committal service for Dorothy Sweet, 89, who died Feb. 28, 2003, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. Richard Lynn, pastor of the Blackinton Union Church of North Adams, Mass., officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington.
Fritz P. Ludwig Rites
SHAFTSBURY — The funeral service for Fritz P. Ludwig, 83, who died April 14, 2003, was held Wednesday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home. Burial followed in Center Shaftsbury cemetery.
Bearers were Henry J. Martinka, Henry M. Martinka, Joseph Thibodeau, Craig Harrington and Anthony Myers.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
Joseph R. Carden Sr.
HANCOCK — Joseph R. Carden Sr., 53, died April 15, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Randolph, the son of Howard and Winifred (Dowd) Carden Sr.
He was educated in Hancock and Rochester schools.
He married
Kathleen Wheeler in 1969 in Hancock.
Mr. Carden worked as a well driller, cook, logger, mechanic, woodworker and worked at the Chesapeake Wood Products Co. in Hancock.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and will be remembered for his interest in hats.
Survivors include his former wife of Franklin, N.H.; two sons, Joseph Carden Jr. of Middlebury and Kevin Carden of Hancock; two daughters, Christina Baker of Berlin and Sondra Farnham of Waitsfield; a brother, Howard Carden Jr. of Hancock; two sisters, Winona Walker of Hancock and Rebecca Soutiere of Jeffersonville; and eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Luciejane Curtis.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hancock Town Hall with the Rev. Wayne Holsman officiating. Burial will take place in Hancock Village cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
