Kathleen M. Bedbrooke
BENNINGTON — Kathleen Mary Bedbrooke, 92, died April 12, 2003, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 30, 1910, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Walter and Lillian (McKerley) Dugan.
She married
John Bedbrooke on Oct. 5, 1940, in Montreal. He died in 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Scully of Bennington and Dale Stackhouse of Ottawa, Canada, and Clearwater, Fla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Gordon G. Stacy
EAST DUMMERSTON — Gordon G. Stacy, 74, died April 14, 2003, at Eden Park Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Clayton, Mo., the son of Roy and Estelle (Phelps) Stacy.
He studied woodworking and cabinet making at Springfield (Mass.) Trade School and received his journeyman certification from the Vermont State Apprenticeship Council in 1957.
He married
Elizabeth Chase on Jan. 27, 1951, in Springfield, Mass.
Mr. Stacy worked at the Brattleboro Tire Co. for many years, and later at Book Press for 17 years, retiring in 1991.
He served in the Connecticut Air National Guard in Windsor Locks, Conn., and was on active duty in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Stacy enjoyed building and restoring furniture.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carolyn Stacy of Dorchester, N.H., Joan Lipinski of Dummerston and Holly Caruso of Readsboro; two sisters, Susan Zavisza of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Georgina Stacy of El Cajon, Calif.; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, William in 1981.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Daniels, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Dummerston Center cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.

Barbara Pratt
ALSTEAD, N.H. — Barbara Pratt, 82, died April 13, 2003, at Springfield (Vt.) Hospital.
She was born Nov. 11, 1920, in South Charlestown, the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Porter) Pratt.
She attended schools in Alstead.
She made wreaths for Woodard Florist in Walpole, and also worked for Lecuyer in Bellows Falls, Vt.
She enjoyed square dancing, sewing and crochet.
Survivors include a brother, Edwin Pratt of Lancaster; a sister, Lillian Whitney of Alstead; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Pratt; and two sisters, Ethel Brooks and Edith Brooks.
The graveside service will take place Thursday at 1 p.m. in Pine Grove cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt.
Katharine A. Leslie
HANOVER, N.H. — Katharine A. Leslie, 86, died April 8, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 9, 1916, in Proctor, Vt., the daughter of Sinclair and Katharine (Scribner) Allen.
She attended Proctor schools and graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., in 1938.
She married
John Leslie on Sept. 2, 1939.
While living in Ramsey, N.J., she was active in the First Presbyterian Church, the Morris County Girl Scout Council, the Hospital Auxiliary of the Riverside Hospital in Boonton, N.J., and Boonton Garden Club. She was on the board of the Green Mountain Horse Association Youth Center in South Woodstock, Vt., and she and her husband received the first annual Constance Knight McCollom Stewardship Award in 2002 for their dedication to the overall care and well being of the Green Mountain Horse Association.
She enjoyed horse driving and riding, music and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dr. Allen Leslie of Christiana, Pa., and David Leslie of Hinsdale, Mass.; five daughters, Mary Hanscom of Park City, Utah, Gail Haubrich of Wilder, Vt., Anne Turek of Westport, N.Y., Julie Kibbe of Woodstock, Vt., and Morristown, N.J., and Jane Jackson of East Ryegate, Vt.; a brother, Sinclair Allen of Shelburne, Vt.; three sisters, Mary Cadwell of Pittsford, Vt., Joan Kastner of La Jolla, Calif., and Lois Saffeir of West Hartford, Conn.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; 19 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Timothy Alden and William Lockwood; and a brother, James Allen.
The memorial service was held Saturday at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon, N.H.

Dr. Edward F. Houlihan Rites
DORSET — The funeral Mass for Dr. Edward Francis Houlihan, 71, who died April 9, 2003, was celebrated Monday at St. Paul’s Church in Manchester with the Rev. Gerard Ettlinger of St. John’s in New York and the Rev. John Whalen, pastor of St. Paul’s, officiating. Burial followed in Dellwood cemetery in Manchester Village.
Organist was Steve Kloser and soloist was Margaret Dawedeit. Bagpiper was Francis Duchame.
Pallbearers were Anthony DiTomasso, Sal DiTomasso, Vincent Palmisano Jr., Oreste Valsangiacomo, Edward McCarthy and Joseph O’Brien.
A gathering was held at the Barrows House in Dorset Village for a time of fellowship following the service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester Center.
John S. Lash
EAST MIDDLEBURY — John S. Lash, 52, died April 9, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
He was born Dec. 4, 1950, the son of Sylvia (Adams) Lash.
He married
Nicolette Valente on Jan. 31, 1998, in Middlebury.
Mr. Lash was a member of the Valley Bible Church in East Middlebury.
Survivors include his wife and daughter, Sylvia Lash, both of East Middlebury; a brother, Robert Lash of Colchester; and two nephews.
The memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Valley Bible Church in East Middlebury.

David Boyd Brown
David Boyd Brown of Ossining, N.Y., died April 11, 2003, at Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. He was 64.
Mr. Brown was the founder and CEO of Blue Sky Studios in White Plains, N.Y., for 13 years. Blue Sky Studios won an Academy Award in 1998 for “Best Animated Short Feature.” He continued as a consultant in the entertainment industry.
Mr. Brown was born April 3, 1938, in Springfield, Vt., to M. Boyd Brown and Emmy Lou Nothnagle Brown.
He was educated in Gill, Mass., and graduated from Mt. Herman School in 1957. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Medieval History from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., in 1960. He also earned an MBA from Columbia University in Manhattan in 1967. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Brown lived in Ossining for the past 13 years. Before that, he lived in Manhattan from 1965 to 1990.
Locally, he was a member of the Union Church of Pocantico Hills, Pocantico Hills, N.Y.; The N.Y. Alpine Club; The Wilderness Society; the Vermont Land Trust; the Audubon Society and the Environmental Committee in Ossining, N.Y., 10562.
Mr. Brown will be remembered for his kindness, great love of life and for his joy with the outdoors. He loved to bike, run, swim, ski and hike and had a wonderful entrepreneurial spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Bailey of Ossining, N.Y., brothers and sister-in-law, Harry and Susan Brown of Westmoreland, N.H., and Frederick Brown of Long Beach, Calif. Nephews include: Chris Brown of Colorado, Boyd Brown of New Hampshire, Doug Tabish of New York, N.Y.; nieces: Heather Brown of New Hampshire and Shannon Brown of Colorado and Kim Tabish of Arizona.
Family members who died earlier include M. Boyd Brown, his father, and Emmy Lou Nothnagle, his mother, who died in 2002.
Memorial Service is Wednesday, April 16, at 11 a.m., at Union Church, Pocantico Hills, 555 Bedford Road, Pocantico Hills, N.Y. Interment will follow in Vermont on Thursday, April 17.

Wayne C. Gould
BRISTOL — Wayne Clinton Gould, 49, died April 12, 2003, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury.
He was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the son of Earl and Malvina (Bushey) Gould.
He worked for W.M. Holdman of Middlebury for several years.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Vergennes.
Survivors include his wife, Janice (Wisell) Gould of Bristol; three brothers, Earl and Lance, both of Schroon Lake, N.Y., and Lawrence of Calton, N.Y.; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bluegrass music.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Vergennes. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. in Severance cemetery in Schroon Lake.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol.

James W. Boretos Rites
The funeral service for James W. Boretos, 65, of Highland, Md., who died April 7, 2003, was held Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Hackett, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Rutland, officiating. Burial followed in Holman cemetery in Salisbury.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Henry E. Duskett Rites
PROCTOR — The funeral Mass for Henry Edward Duskett, 87, who died April 11, 2003, was celebrated Tuesday at St. Dominic’s Church in Proctor with the Rev. William Morgan, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Riverside cemetery.
Organist was Margaret Curtis and soloist was Mary Jo Knapp.
American Legion Post 31 provided military honors. Jack Allen presented the flag to the family. Calvert Mills sounded taps.
Bearers were James Taranovich, Robert Lewis and Marc Sevigny.
