Barbara C. Baker
POWNAL — Mrs. Barbara C. Baker, 66, died Feb. 9, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Bennington Oct. 16, 1936, the daughter of Ralph J. and Alma (LaPointe) Leonard. She received her education in the Bennington schools.
She married
Augustine L. Baker June 2, 1956, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.
She worked at Eveready Battery Co. in Bennington for 25 years until her retirement in 1999.
Survivors include her husband of Pownal; two daughters, Melissa Davis of Pownal and Terri Lee Davis of Bennington; a son, Gary S. Baker of Pownal; two brothers, Ralph Leonard Jr. of Pownal and Nelson Leonard of Bennington; six sisters, Marion Noyes, Beulah Racicot and Velta Thayer, all of Bennington, Shirley H. Carroll of Petersburgh, N.Y.; Beatrice Olin of Shaftsbury, and Eva O’Dell of Pownal; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and aunts, nieces, nephews, grandnieces grandnephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister, Louise Peacock.
The funeral will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue at St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. with the funeral Mass. Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery in Pownal at a later date.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m. The wake service will be offered at 6 p.m.

Kenneth W. Williams
LEICESTER — Kenneth Wright “Bud” Williams, 68, died Feb. 8, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Myron F. Chapman
RANDOLPH — Myron F. “Chappy” Chapman, 75, died Feb. 8, 2003, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Addison, the son of George and Almira (Chase) Chapman. He attended Randolph Center schools. Following school he worked on the family farm.
At the age of 17 he entered military service, serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He married
Beverly Martin on Jan. 8, 1955, in Barre.
He was a self-employed truck driver, delivering milk. He also did logging and worked in construction and managed the Randolph Landfill for several years, retiring in 1993. His memberships include the Elks Club and the Barre Fish & Game Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, sporting events and hiking.
Survivors include his wife of Randolph; two daughters, Annette Chapman of East Montpelier and Jan Reis of Randolph; a sister, Mary Allie of White City, Ore.; a half-brother, Steve Garrow of Vershire, and three granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery in Randolph Center at a later date.
Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a favorite charity.

Rodney R. Hughes Sr.
RANDOLPH — Rodney R. Hughes Sr., 77, died Feb. 8, 2003, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
He was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Highland Park, Mich., the son of Richard and Ella (Hefter) Hughes. He attended Randolph schools.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married
Loraine Campbell in Norfolk, Va., on March 11, 1944. She died in 1986.
After his discharge from the service in 1946, he went to work for Central Vermont Public Service as a lineman. During the 1950s he opened a used gun shop in Randolph. Later he and his wife opened Hughes Sporting Goods on Main Street, later adding a small ladies boutique. In 1967, Mr. Hughes was offered the New England distributorship for the Arctic Cat Snowmobile. In 1971 he expanded into manufacturing of van interiors and painted murals. Plants were located in Randolph, Bethel, St. John, Quebec, and Galatin, Tenn.
He retired from his business career in 1981 to care for his wife.
He was a member of the Randolph American Legion, Vermont Fish & Game Club, Randolph Rotary and Montague Golf Club. He worked on the Pinnacle Ski Area and various other Randolph projects.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, reading and following the stock market.
Survivors include a son, Rodney R. Hughes Jr. of Benton, Maine, a daughter, Gae Hughes Kovalesky of Randolph; a brother, Leon C. Hughes of Burlington; three grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Green Mountain Gospel Chapel in Randolph with the Rev. Ronald Rilling officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasant View cemetery in Randolph. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montague Golf Club, Randolph, 05060.

Doris G. Welch
Doris Grover Welch, 95, of Rutland died late Sunday evening, Sept. 16, 2001, at Mountain View Center Genesis Eldercare Network. She was born Sept. 26, 1905, in Rutland, the daughter of Arthur C. and Sue (Colburn) Grover.
Mrs. Welch graduated from Rutland High School in 1922 and from Oberlin College in 1929 with a degree in music. She was a teacher of piano and voice for years and was soloist and organist for the First Church of Christ Scientists for 50 years. Also, she was a soloist for many musical functions in Rutland throughout those years.
Mrs. Welch was a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ and life member and past matron of the Phyllis Chapter 56, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors are a son, Richard A. Welch; three daughters, Barbara Bellomo and husband, Sam, Arlie M. Welch and Mary Lou Beaudry and husband, Reginald Jr., all of Rutland. Nine grandchildren, Keith Welch and wife, Mary, Ron Welch and wife Melissa, Lisa Susmann and husband Craig, Jeffery Bellomo, Kevin Bellomo and wife Tracy, Nathan Bellomo, Michelle Ferguson and husband Scot, Stephen Beaudry and Seth Beaudry. Also, seven great-grandchildren, Brittney, Colby, Jermery, Ryan, Kristina, Amanda and Sydney. Sisters-in-law, Barbara Keirstead and Sarah Welch. Mrs. Welch was predeceased by her husband, Maynard H. Welch; and daughter-in-law, Carol Welch.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The Rev. Robert B. Curry, senior minister, will officiate.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church parlor.

Robert E. Colomb Sr.
Robert Edward Colomb Sr., 69, of Rutland died Sept. 16, 2001, at Westhoff Hospital in Rockledge, Fla., after a brief illness.
Arrangements are pending with the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 N. Main St., Rutland.
Mary L. Kelly
HYDEVILLE - Mrs. Mary Louisa Kelly, 92, a longtime resident of Hydeville, died suddenly Monday, September 17, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Kelly was born on July 4, 1909, in Benson, Vermont, the daughter of Cecil and Grace (Hier) Goodrich. She attended local schools and she provided domestic house cleaning services to many families in the Hydeville and Castleton area for several years.
Mary was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Castleton and she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing, baking and she loved animals.
Mary is survived by her son, William F. Kelly Sr. and daughter-in-law Bernice of Castleton; her sister, Inez Bull of Daytona, Florida; her three grandchildren, Kathleen Kelly of Castleton, Linda Guilmette of East Long Meadow, Mass., and William E. Kelly Jr. of Center Rutland; her two great-grandchildren, Tyler Guilmette and Benjamin Guilmette, both of East Long Meadow, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Kelly, who died in February 1996; her two sisters, Fanny Ross and Netta Morrison; and her two brothers, William Goodrich and Leslie Goodrich.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven, Vt. The Rev. J. Charles Durham, parish priest of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Hillside cemetery in Castleton, Vt.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Kelly may be given to the Rutland County Humane Society, P.O. Box 558, Pittsford, Vt., 05763, the Castleton First Responders at P.O. Box 727, Castleton, Vt., 05735, or a charity of one's choice.
Earl A. Donaldson
Earl A. Donaldson, 81, of Palm Harbor, Fla., formerly of Rutland, died Sept. 15, 2001, at Bay Tree Nursing Center in Palm Harbor.
He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Hubbardton, the son of Arthur and Rose (Twine) Donaldson.
He married
Mildred M. Riley, who died in 1979.
Mr. Donaldson was employed at Patch Wegner Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1970.
He was a former member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Rutland.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's cemetery in Rutland.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Leslie R. Bernor Rites
PITTSFORD - The funeral Mass for Leslie R. Bernor, 87, who died Sept. 14, 2001, was held Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford with the Rev. James Lawrence, pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Alphonsus cemetery in Pittsford.
Ministers of the altar were Wanda Lulek, Ed Keith, Francis Casey and Gene Chartrand.
Organist was Stu James.
The eulogy was given by Bonnie Bourne.
Bearers were Ed Beriau, Bill Parker, Ron Smith, Bob Parker, Bud Parker and Arlyn Phillips.
Honorary bearers were Don Rantanen, Bob Smith, Art Grace, Art Beriau, Henry Booth and Albert Beriau.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.

FAIR HAVEN - The memorial service for Erik Barnouw, who died July 19, 2001, was held Thursday at St. Paul's Chapel, Columbia University, in New York City.
Zane D. Tobin
BENNINGTON - Zane D. Tobin, 77, died Sept. 15, 2001, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass., after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Bennington, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Monroe) Lever.
She attended North Bennington Elementary and High School.
She married
Robert L. Tobin on Feb. 13, 1942, in Pawlet.
Mrs. Tobin worked with her husband at Bob and Zane's Mobil in Bennington for many years and at Union Carbide Corp. and Woolworth's Department Store, from which she retired in 1987.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and taking walks.
Survivors include her husband of Bennington; two sons, Rodney Tobin of Bennington and Louis Tobin of Woodford; three daughters, Gloria Myers of North Bennington, Roberta Tobin of Middletown, Conn., and Pam Rose of Pownal; two brothers, Kenneth Lever and Donald Lever, both of Arizona; two sisters, Hazel Tobin of Bennington and Esther Pinsonneault of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Gerity in May 2001.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Penny Rich-Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
