The Rev. James F. Foley
BURLINGTON — The Rev. James F. Foley, 83, died Nov. 27, 2002, at the Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 12, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of John and Mary Foley Sr.
He attended St. John’s College in Brooklyn; St. Mary’s College in St. Mary, Ky.; St. Charles College in Catonsville, Md.; Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Huntington, L.I., N.Y.; Mount St. Mary in Emmitsburg, Md.; and St. Bernard’s Theological Seminary in Rochester, N.Y.
The Rev. Foley was ordained for the priesthood on June 11, 1949, in Burlington, by the Most Rev. Bishop Edward Ryan. He celebrated his first Mass at St. Theresa of Avila in Brooklyn.
He served St. Anthony in White River Junction; St. Augustine in Montpelier; St. Raphael in Poultney; St. Mark in Burlington; St. Patrick in Fairfield; St. Isidore in Montgomery Center; St. Paul in Orwell; and St. Augustine in Montpelier. He served as chaplain at Camp Mary Crest in 1977.
He was a resident of Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center for the past 12 years. Following his retirement, he continued celebrating Masses in homes for the elderly and visiting the sick.
The Rev. Foley was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Vermont and New York Library associations and the Vermont Historical Society.
He is survived by a brother, Joseph Foley of Brooklyn.
He was predeceased by a sister, Sr. Mary Edna Foley; three brothers, John Foley Jr.; William Foley and Edmund Foley.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. Burial will follow in Prospect cemetery in Vergennes.

Lee A. Platt
Lee A. Platt, 86, a former resident of East Shoreham, died Nov. 27, 2002, at Lake Wales (Fla.) Hospital.
He was born in East Shoreham on Jan. 19, 1916.
Arrangements are pending at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Kenneth C. Fish
WALLINGFORD — Kenneth Carl Fish, 85, died Nov. 28, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
He was born March 18, 1917, in Clarendon, Vermont, the son of Carl and Nellie (Blodgett) Fish. When he was one month old, the family moved to Mount Holly. He attended school there and at Black River Academy in Ludlow.
In 1939, Mr. Fish married
Betty Wheeler of Wallingford.
As he was growing up, Mr. Fish worked on his father’s farm and sawmill. For several years, he sold and maintained vehicles for dealerships in Ludlow and Rutland, as well as for Mobil Oil Company. He and his brother, Arthur, opened Fish Brothers Auto Repair, but eventually he worked in equipment maintenance for the Forest Service and for Mobil Oil in Burlington.
From 1960 until he retired in 1998, Mr. Fish worked for Seward Dairy, Inc., of Rutland and East Wallingford where he was Vice President/Chief Engineer.
He was a certified master electrician and a member of the Vermont Society of Engineers, the Wallingford Congregational Church, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Pico Lodge #32, where he had served as Deputy Grand Master and Noble Grand.
A long-time resident of Wallingford, he had been a member of the Rotary Club and the Fire Department there. For nine years, he was on the town’s Prudential Committee.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Fish also enjoyed card playing, dancing and camping. He had numerous friends and family who greatly enjoyed his many stories and reminiscences.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty, and their four children, Lorene Wilbur and her husband, Stanley, of Tinmouth; Leslie Fish and his wife, Beverly, of Marietta, Georgia; Carol Ellison, of Barre; and Rachel Ambrosch and her husband, Robert, of Westport, Washington; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Marion Blodgett, Marjorie Eddy, and Joyce Ingalls, all of Wallingford, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn Leino Brown; and three brothers, Arthur, Sherwin and Winston.
A funeral service will be at the Wallingford Congregational Church at 1 p.m. on Monday followed by burial at the Maple Grove cemetery in East Wallingford.
Friends may call on Sunday at the Wallingford Aldous Funeral Home from 1 to 4 p.m.

Rose D. Lebo
Rose (Deo) Lebo, 59, of Center Rutland, died Nov. 28, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 19, 1943, in Alburg, the daughter of Gladys (Deo) Bertrand and Arthur Deo.
A longtime resident of Rutland, she enjoyed volunteering at social clubs, and was an active member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1122 of Rutland, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 50 of Castleton.
Survivors include her husband of Center Rutland, Vaughn Lebo whom she married
May 30, 1970; her mother, Gladys Bertrand of West Rutland; four sisters, Emma Bergeron of Poultney, Martha Allen of Rutland Town, Linda Gemmell of Tinmouth, and Gloria Flemings of Lincoln; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.
A reception will follow the burial at the home of Gladys Bertrand.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Flora B. Weeks Rites
The funeral service for Flora B. Weeks, 97, who died Nov. 25, 2002, at Eden Park Nursing Home, was held Friday at Tossing Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bruce A. Bishop, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated.
Alan D. Walker was organist.
Bearers were a nephew, Robert W. Weeks of Quebec, Canada, and Paul Crossman, Kenneth Hart and Bradford Hart, all of Rutland.
Burial was in East Clarendon cemetery with Rev. Bishop reading the committal prayers.
Greta L. Cheney
The funeral service for Greta L. Cheney, 72, who died unexpectedly Nov. 21, 2002, at her residence, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Aldous Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.
There are no calling hours.

Edward H. Jagelski Rites
SPRINGFIELD — A funeral Mass for Edward H. Jagelski Sr., 86, who died Nov. 25, 2002, was held Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Raymond Fournier officiated.
Readings were by Patricia Dice.
Organist was Jay Chandler, and soloist was Stan Smith with the Rejoice Choir.
Burial followed in the Pine Grove cemetery in North Springfield.
Bearers were Mark Bushway, Dennis Fontaine, Marty Aldrich, Joey Skaza, Paul Jagelski, Stanley Wos Jr. and David Garbacz.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Anna Mae Hatch
WEST FERRISBURGH — Anna Mae Hatch, 80, died Nov. 27, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born July 29, 1922, in Worcester, Mass., daughter of Patrick and Stella (Baker) Coyle.
She graduated from Vergennes High School in the class of 1938, and received her registered nurse training at Rutland Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.
She married
Gerald W. Hatch in September, 1944.
Mrs. Hatch began her nursing career at Porter Hospital in Middlebury in 1943 where she was supervisor of obstetrics. She remained there until 1962.
She was employed by the state of Vermont from 1962 through 1987. Her positions included charge nurse at Weeks School in Vergennes, and for 17 years after the closure of the facility she surveyed nursing homes throughout the state.
Her personal interests and organizational involvement included extensive travel after her retirement, volunteering for the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, RSVP Advisory Council member, Vermont Department of Aging and Disability Board, and involvement at the state level with UVM Extension Homemakers, St. Anne’s Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Mrs. Hatch will be remembered for her tireless dedication to family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include four sons, Albert White of Panton, Gerald Hatch of Brandon, Patrick and James Hatch, both of West Ferrisburgh; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, and a son, Giles Hatch.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. Burial will be in Prospect cemetery in Vergennes.
Friends may call at her home on Jersey Street in West Ferrisburgh on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Beverly O. Cox Rites
BALTIMORE — A funeral service for Beverly O. Cox, 72, who died Nov. 25, 2002, was held Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Springfield with the Rev. Dana Longever, pastor, officiating.
Organist was Rod Lambert.
Burial followed in the Oakland cemetery in Springfield.
Bearers were Gary Gosley, Russell Goodwin, Matthew Goodwin, and Sean Cox.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
Michael W. Tucker
NORTH FERRISBURGH — Michael Wrisley Tucker, 52, died Nov. 28, 2002, at Vermont Respite House in Williston.
He was born Oct. 1, 1950, in Middlebury, son of Foster J. Tucker Sr. and Edna (Wrisley) Tucker.
He attended schools in Ferrisburgh and Vergennes, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors are three children, Gina M. Morrissey of Middlebury, Mandy LeBeau of North Ferrisburgh, and Michael S. Tucker of Vergennes; his companion, Sherry Mumley of Burlington; his mother, Edna W. T. Ball of Monkton; his stepfather, Winston J. Ball of Monkton; three brothers, Foster J. Tucker Jr. and Stephen C. Tucker, both of Vergennes, and Gregory P. Tucker of Burlington; three sisters, Lee Phelan of Ferrisburgh, Suzanne Bushey of Monkton, and Kimberly Ann Curtis of Monkton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Scott Tucker.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. Burial will be in North Ferrisburgh cemetery at a later date.

PROCTORSVILLE — Elizabeth A. Lawrence, 63, died at her home Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, after a long illness.
