Erma I. King
NEW HAVEN — Erma Iola King, 92, died Nov. 19, 2002, in Bristol.
She was born Nov. 19, 1910, in New Haven Mills, the daughter of Birchard and Mabel (Lowell) Clark.
She graduated from Vergennes High School in 1928.
She married
Leon King on Aug. 5, 1929, in New Haven.
Mrs. King worked for the Van Raalte Lingerie Co. for 30 years, as forelady of the Bristol plant until it closed and the manager of the Van Raalte store in Middlebury until she retired. She and her husband owned and operated an antique shop, King’s Barn, at her home in New Haven, as well as assisting her son Gerald at King’s Barn Annex in Bristol.
She enjoyed antiquing.
Survivors include a son, Gerald King of Georgetown, Texas; three daughters, Doreen Gilmore of Middlebury, Pauline Cousino of Ferrisburg and Shirley Merrifield of Weybridge; a brother, Laurence Clark of Deltona, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; a brother, Kenneth; and a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church in New Haven. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in New Haven.
There will be no calling hours.

Genevieve E. Stark
BRISTOL — Genevieve E. Stark, 83, died Nov. 18, 2002, at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.
She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in South Lincoln, the daughter of Frank and Rosy (Tatro) Eubar.
She worked as a seamstress at Van Raalte Co. in Bristol for 32 years.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Burial will follow in Mount St. Joseph cemetery in Bristol.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol.
M. Anders Beeken
HUNTINGTON — M. Anders “Andy” Beeken, 53, formerly of Poultney, died Nov. 15, 2002, at his home.
He was born June 6, 1949, in Washington, D.C., the son of William and Shirley (Sewell) Beeken.
He graduated from Champlain College in Burlington.
He married
Natalia Czar on Sept. 9, 1990, in Poultney.
Mr. Beeken worked as an information systems administrator at Karl Suss Inc. of Waterbury and Technical Connection in Burlington.
He enjoyed photography, classical, jazz and rock music.
Survivors include his wife; his father of Stafford, Va.; two sisters, Shirley Beeken of Warrenton, Va., and Sylvia Beeken of Gore, Va.; a brother, Kevin Beeken of Stafford, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to local food shelves.
Harry A. Bryant
Harry A. “Sonny” Bryant, 73, died Nov. 12, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 15, 1929, in Brandon, the son of Carl and Anna (Hall) Bryant.
He received his education in local schools and attended Brandon High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948, and served in Germany during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge, he worked as a woodsman and logger. He worked for Clark’s Sawmill and for Elnicki Construction, and was involved in building Route 4 from Rutland to Fair Haven.
He was a member of Brandon American Legion Post 55 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7231 in Brandon.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Bryant of Eastford, Conn., Robert Bryant of Brooklyn, Conn., and Karl Schaffer of Frankfurt, Germany; six daughters, Cheryl Curavoo of Fair Haven, Judy Carter of Bristol, Anna Bishop of Shoreham, Cindy Lussier of Benson, Sherry Wisell of Center Rutland, and Debbie LaRose of Rutland; one brother, Robert Bryant of Leicester; one sister, Doris Trudo of Salisbury; 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary (Thayer) Bryant, on June 20, 2002. He was also predeceased by four sisters, Erma Marsetta, Dena Browe, Marnie Trudo and Anna Mae Toto; and by a brother, Donald Bryant.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon, with the Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mountain View cemetery in Orwell, followed by a gathering at the Brandon American Legion Hall.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Steven Karasinski
RUTLAND — Services for Steven Karasinski, 85, of Rutland who died Sunday will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
The Clifford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Priscilla Jean Pritchard Anderson
CASTLETON — Priscilla Jean Pritchard Anderson age 57 died Friday, November 8, 2002 at Christopher House Hospice in Austin, TX following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Castleton on Nov. 1, 1945. She was the daughter of Edwald & Beatrice (McCarthy) Pritchard. She received her early education in Castleton Schools and was a graduate of Fair Haven Union High School, Class of 1966. She afterwards graduated from Bridgewater (NJ) Community College, School of Cosmetology. In her earlier years she was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Castleton. She has been a resident of Texas since 1992 moving from Albuquerque, NM. Priscilla dedicated her life to her family.
Surviving are 3 daughters Melissa Anderson of Austin, TX, Wendy Lewis of San Angelo, TX and Jennifer Anderson of Austin, TX; 3 sisters Wilmah Elliott of Troy, NY, Patricia Geanniles of Bennington and Irene Ashford of Fair Haven; 5 brothers George W. Pritchard of Hampton, NY, Edward G. Pritchard of Ivyland, PA, Thomas J. Pritchard of Castleton, Peter Pritchard of Maryland, and Larry Rogers of Orange City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher LeRoy Anderson, Joseph Leon Lewis and Marshall Jesse Lewis. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. 2 sisters Sarah Jane Pritchard and Marylou Pritchard and 2 brothers William John Pritchard and Charles Francis Pritchard predeceased her.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at 10 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Castleton. The Rev. Charles Danielson, Administrator will be the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial will follow in Hillside cemetery.
Friends may call at The Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 from 7-9 PM.

Walter L. Forrest Rites
BRANDON — The funeral service for Walter L. Forrest, 66, who died Nov. 10, 2002, was held Wednesday at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford. The Rev. Virginia Cornell, pastor of Trinity/Wilton United Methodist Church in Gansevoort, N.Y., officiated. Burial followed in Evergreen cemetery in Pittsford.
Bearers were Marshall Hier, Ben Hier, Kevin Hier, Frank Dumas Jr., Jeff Gray and Shawn Sumner.
Charles Bruce Jr. Rites
BRANDON — The funeral service for Charles “Chipper” Bruce Jr., 34, who died Nov. 10, 2002, was held Wednesday at the Brandon Congregational Church, with the Rev. Richard White, pastor, officiating. Cremation followed the service. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Bearers were Philip Baldwin Jr., Jeremy Munger, Jason Munger, Gary Stone, Andy Bruce and Raymond Counter.
Following the service, the family received friends in the church hall.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Edmund Wisnowski Rites
SALISBURY — The funeral Mass for Edmund Wisnowski, 70, who died Nov. 9, 2002, was celebrated Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church in Middlebury, with the Rev. Justin Baker officiating.
Organist was Kevin Parizo. Burial with military honors provided by Middlebury American Legion Post 27, followed in Prospect cemetery in East Middlebury.
Bearers were Bernie Wisnowski, Tom Wisnowski, James Wisnowski, Reese Wisnowski, Mark Wisnowski and Eric Hathaway.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service in Middlebury.
Aarne K. Komulainen
LUDLOW — Aarne Konstantine Komulainen, 78, died Nov. 3, 2002, at Springfield Hospital following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 28, 1923, in New York City, the son of Konsta Komulainen and Senja (Grandbacca) Komulainen.
He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.
He married
Romona Grover in Weathersfield on Oct. 24, 1959. She predeceased him in June of this year.
Mr. Komulainen worked as a toolmaker for General Electric in Ludlow, and retired from General Electric in Rutland in 1979, following 20 years of employment.
He was a member of Black River LaFayette Lodge 85 Masons, Keystone 5 Eastern Star in Ludlow, a life member of American Legion Post 36 in Ludlow, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 771 in Rutland, and a member of Springfield Council 18 Royal and Select Masters.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching sports, especially soccer.
Survivors include four sons, Rodney Grover of Essex Junction, Frank Komulainen of Baltimore, Md., Richard Komulainen of East Greenbush, N.Y., and Wayne Komulainen of Tavares, Fla.; two daughters, Rhonda Komulainen of Ludlow, and Donna Komulainen of Texas; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Irene Scott.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Ludlow.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hazel M. Smith
SOUTH ROYALTON — Hazel May Smith, 81, of South Royalton, died Nov. 12, 2002, at the Brookside Nursing Home in Bradford.
She was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Norwich, the daughter of Luther and Ellen (Bailey) Smith.
She grew up and attended schools in Union Village (Norwich), and lived in Moretown, Waitsfield, Randolph, and Chelsea, before moving to South Royalton in 2001.
She married
Harold Carlisle in 1939. He died in 1975.
She attended the United Church of Randolph.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include four daughters, Eleanor Wood of South Royalton, Phyllis Elco of Punta Gorda, Fla., Mary Duquette of Barre, and Ellen Hughes of Port Charlotte, Fla.; four brothers, Ernest Smith and Maurice Smith, both of Connecticut, and Gerald Smith and James Smith Cox, both of Springfield, Mass.; four sisters, Christine Eastman of West Fairlee, Vera Blandin of Newbury, and Laura Barrett and Alice Smith, both of Connecticut; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Harold Carlisle Jr.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery in Randolph.
