Mary M. Beebe
RUPERT — Mary (McKeighan) Beebe, 95, died Nov. 11, 2002, at Southwest Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
She was born Sept. 13, 1907, in Rupert, the daughter of Daniel and Daisey (Bentley) McKeighan.
She worked for J.H. Guild Co. in Rupert.
Mrs. Beebe was a life member of the Congregational Church in Rupert and the Rupert Grange.
She enjoyed collecting things, especially china and figurines.
Survivors include a son, Vernon Beebe of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Helen Thompson of Troy, N.Y., and Caroline Christensen of Salem, N.Y.; two brothers, Kenneth McKeighan of Granville, N.Y., and Austin McKeighan of West Rupert; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Beebe Sr.; a sister, Ida Keyes; and two brothers, Raymond McKeighan and William McKeighan.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Rupert with the Rev. Mary Beth Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in Rupert cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McClellan Funeral Home in Salem, N.Y.

Rose M. Morrissey
BENNINGTON — Rose Emma (Michaels) Morrissey, 91, died Nov. 12, 2002, in Bennington.
She was born Nov. 22, 1910, in Pownal, the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Buettner) Michaels.
She graduated from Bennington High School, and later was persuaded to study the law and qualified as a Vermont attorney in Vermont in 1935.
She married
Francis Morrissey Sr. in 1948. He died in 1965.
Mrs. Morrissey worked as a secretary in the offices of Edward Holden Law Firm. After qualifying as a Vermont attorney, she joined Holden, Morrissey and Barber, and practiced real estate and estate and trust law until her retirement in 1996.
She served as justice of the peace, was a charter member of the Bennington Business and Professional Women and the Vermont Bar Association. She was a member and past president of the Bennington County Bar Association. She was an associate instructor with the Dale Carnegie courses, served as a director of the Bennington Housing Authority, and director, treasurer and secretary of the Bennington Park Lawn cemetery. She was a director and secretary of the Bennington Museum and served as a trustee of Hill Top House, a Baptist Women’s Home in Brattleboro. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a troop leader with the Girl Scouts of America. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Mrs. Morrissey was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bennington.
Mrs. Morrissey helped raise funds for the Vermont Heart Association, Bennington Museum and Southern Vermont College. She was elected as a director at Southern Vermont College in 1982, and later served as president of the board of directors. She was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Bennington Rotary Club.
Survivors include a son, Francis Morrissey Jr. of Bennington; a daughter, Patricia Kemp of Greenwich, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Michaels; and a brother, Paul Michaels.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Park Lawn cemetery in Bennington.
Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edgar L. Robillard Rites
NORTH SPRINGFIELD — The funeral Mass for Edgar L. Robillard, 85, who died Nov. 8, 2002, was celebrated Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Ramano, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in South View cemetery in North Adams, Mass.
Organist was Jay Chandler and cantor was Stan Smith.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Frank T. Chaffee
EAST MIDDLEBURY — Frank Taft Chaffee, 94, died Nov. 11, 2002, at Porter Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born April 22, 1908, in Enosburg, the son of William and Carrie (Hodges) Chaffee.
He graduated from Vermont Technical College.
He worked as a dairy farmer and a milk tester for the Dairy Heard Improvement Association. He later worked with the Forestry Department for several years.
Survivors include a son, William Chaffee of East Middlebury; two daughters, Irene Spooner of Waltham and Gladys Austin of Weybridge; a stepdaughter, Lois Parker; two stepsons, Rupert Billings and Richard Billings; eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa Marshall in 1974; and his second wife, Rita Billings in 2002.
The graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Prospect cemetery in East Middlebury.

NEW HAVEN — Joseph Michael Zolnik, 56, died Nov. 12, 2002, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury.

Florence L. Brown Rites
LEICESTER — The funeral service for Florence Lillian Brown, 88, who died Nov. 8, 2002, was held Tuesday at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Congregational Church in Brandon, officiating. Burial followed in Forest Dale cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elroy LaDuc, Kenneth Leno, Robert Leno, Mike Forbes, Gary Forbes and Chris Leno.
The family received friends at the Leicester Town Hall for a time of fellowship and reflection following the committal service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Stanley H. Jones Rites
BRISTOL — The graveside service for Stanley “Stub” Jones, 71, who died Nov. 5, 2002, was held Tuesday at the Vermont Veterans cemetery in Randolph with the Rev. Art Adams, pastor of the Assembly of God Christian Center in Vergennes, officiating.
American Legion Post 55 of Brandon provided military honors. Chaplain Norman Reed presented the flag to Mr. Jones’ wife.

Margaret J. Foti
Margaret J. (Notte) Foti, 78, of Rutland, died Nov. 18, 2002, at her home.
Arrangements are pending at the Clifford Funeral Home.
James E. Slavin
NORTH CHITTENDEN/CLINTON, Mass. — James E. Slavin, 77, died Sunday, November, 17, 2002, at Genesis Elder Care Mountain View Center in Rutland after a short illness.
He was born on September 6, 1925, in Mt. Tabor, Vt., the son of James and Mildred (Churchill) Slavin.
Jim quit school to serve with the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 during WWII aboard the USS Ticonderoga, serving in Pearl Harbor, Okinawa, Philippines Liberation, Japan and China and was awarded the Purple Heart for his wounds received in action. The Navy was number one for Jim. He valued his Navy pride, his Navy boxing pride and his Navy buddies for life. Jim worked many jobs after the Navy.
He valued people, not money or material things. He was truly amazing and we all feel special to have been given the gift of knowing how special he really was, the circle of friends we met through him. Jim will be remembered as an independent strong man to his final days, his vocabulary, his willingness to go out of his way for all of us, a cigarette in hand and above all his sense of humor. He had a very big heart, he welcomed and touched so many people through out his life. He will be missed by all his family especially Silas E. Dorr Jr., Eva, Jasper, Paul and Kate of N. Chittenden with whom he resided with in recent months, Doris Dorr, Sonny Labonte and Leona.
Jim loved to play golf, cards, horseshoes and baseball.
He is survived by five children: Ann, Audrey, Linda, Susan and James; one sister, Doris Dorr of Danby; a longtime companion, Alexandra Wisockey-Kostechka of Clinton, Mass.; his good buddy, Silas Dorr Jr. of North Chittenden; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his family at Mountain View Center. The nurses and staff who got to his heart and showed him great kindness, love, care and comfort for the great man and navy vet that he was. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Connie; four sisters, Evelyn, Dalores, Gretchen and Hazel; two brothers, Ken and Leonard.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at South Village cemetery in East Dorset, Vt., in the spring of 2003.
There will be no calling hours.

Elizabeth G. Dimichele
POULTNEY — Elizabeth G. “Betty” Dimichele, 79, died Nov. 17, 2002, at Haven Health Care of Rutland.
She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Proctor, the daughter of Perley and Phoebe (Shedrick) Green.
She worked as a housekeeper at Green Mountain College prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Dimichele was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Center in Poultney.
Survivors include her husband, Guy Dimichele of Poultney; a brother, Robert Green of Glens Falls, N.Y.; two sisters, Winona Shannon and Christina Trapeni, both of Rutland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney with the Rev. Stephen R. Payne, pastor of the United Baptist Church of Poultney, officiating. Burial will follow in East Clarendon cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

BRANDON — Louis Rowland Jacobs, 80, died Nov. 18, 2002, at Haven Health Care in Rutland.

Madeliene F. Hilliker
HARTLAND — Madeliene F. Hilliker, 80, died Nov. 17, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Orange, the daughter of Wyness and Alyce (Morse) Tucker.
She graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1941.
She worked at Bradford Creamery, and later for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor. In later years, she and her husband moved to Hartland where they built and operated a grocery and oil business, J&M Country Outlet. She was also a licensed real estate agent.
Mrs. Hilliker enjoyed gardening, birds, fishing, country music and dancing.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Hammond of Wilder and Sylvia Heath of Hartland Four Corners; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Tucker of Orange; and a sister, Verna Robie of Orford, N.H.
She was predeceased by her first husband, James Colburn Jr. in 1976; her second husband, Andrew Hilliker in 1994; three brothers, Melbourne Tucker, Max Tucker and Neal Tucker; and a sister, Regena Stevens.
At Mrs. Hilliker’s request graveside funeral services will be held at a later date.
