Maureen E. Shepard
WINOOSKI — Maureen E. Shepard, 54, died Oct. 30, 2002, at Vermont Respite House in Williston.
She was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Randolph, the daughter of Charles and Anita (Phillips) Shepard.
She graduated from Whitcomb High School in Bethel and Trinity College in Burlington where she received her bachelor’s degree.
She worked in social services as a prevention specialist for the state Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program for 20 years.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel and a board member for the Burlington Yaroslaul Sister City Program, First Night Committee, the Jazz Festival and the Governor’s Youth Leadership Program. She was also active in the Flynn Theater.
She enjoyed traveling and music.
Survivors include a sister, Charlene Shepard of Bethel, and a niece.
The memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel with the Rev. Lance Harlow and the Rev. Leo Bilodeau co-officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery in Bethel.
There will be no calling hours.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Winooski with the Rev. Charles Ranges officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vermont Respite House, the Bethel Council on the Arts, or the Sister City Program, all in care of Sue Griffin, P.O. Box, Bethel, 05032.

Frances S. Bruyn-Turner
PLYMOUTH — Frances S. Bruyn-Turner, 73, died Oct. 29, 2002, at her home.
She was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of Stanley and Mildred (Hillyer) Shane.
She graduated from Syracuse University, College of Fine Arts.
She taught art for 35 years.
She enjoyed hiking and fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Peter Bruyn of Wakefield, Mass., and Christopher Bruyn of Plymouth; a daughter, Deborah Sleeper of Bridgewater; a grandson and five granddaughters; two brothers, Stanley Shane Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y., and Robert Shane of Jamesville, N.Y.; two sisters, Martha Mangerson of Rhinelander, Wisc., and Patricia Marbut of Afton, Okla.; four stepchildren, Roger, Theodore Jr., George and Jonathan Turner; many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Arwed Bruyn; and her second husband, Theodore Turner.
The family will receive friends at Mrs. Bruyn-Turner’s home in Plymouth on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Carolyn B. Omland
The funeral service for Carolyn B. “Connie” Omland, 72, who died Oct. 29, 2002, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church.

John J. Kurasinski Rites
WEST SANDGATE — The funeral service for John J. Kurasinski, 78, who died Oct. 25, 2002, was held Wednesday at the Hanson-Walbridge Arlington Chapel with the Rev. David Bort, pastor of the Methodist Church in Sandgate, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The American flag was presented to the family and taps was sounded to close the service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
Clifford K. Best
NORTH HARTLAND — Clifford K. Best, 93, died Oct. 30, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born Oct. 10, 1909, in Hartland, the son of Guy and Ada (Hough) Best.
He attended school in Hartland.
He married
Vivian Gaudette on March 31, 1933, in Woodstock.
Mr. Best worked for National Acme Co. in Windsor, White Lumber Co. and Martin Mills in Hartland, and later at Cone Automatic Machine Co. in Windsor. He and his wife farmed in Hartland from 1945 to 1978.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and snowmobiling.
Survivors include his wife of North Hartland; two sons, Lloyd Best of Bethel and David Best of Meriden, N.H.; a daughter, Marilyn Young of Southwick, Mass.; a sister, Helen Hatch of Hartland; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph Best and Floyd Best; and two sisters, Florice Trachier and Joyce Motschman.
The graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hartland Village cemetery with the Rev. Andrew Mercaldo officiating.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.

Mildred D. Dinsmore
BELLOWS FALLS — Mildred Della Dinsmore, 83, died Oct. 29, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Shelburne Falls, Mass., the daughter of Harry Sr. and Della (Payne) Hartwell.
She married
Donald Dinsmore on July 6, 1969, in Bellows Falls.
Mrs. Dinsmore worked as a waitress at the Old Railroad Station, Miss Bellows Falls Diner and Rita’s, all in Bellows Falls. She retired from the Calico Kitchen in Chester.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Harland Rounds Jr. of Westminster; two daughters, Jane Keroack of Manchester, N.H., and Janet Kinney of Bellows Falls; a brother, Charles Hartwell of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harry Hartwell; and a sister, Ruth Newell.
There will be no services.

Mildred C. Ryan Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Mildred C. Ryan, who died Oct. 26, 2002, was celebrated Wednesday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Vincent J. Coppola, associate pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.
Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray.
Bearers were John Hubinger, Tim Hubinger, Scott Hubinger and Arthur Cronin. Honorary bearers were members of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Andrew, Catherine Murphy, Mary Francis Murphy, Rita McCann, JoAnne Dunham, Geraldine Sausville and Mary Morrissey.
A prayer service was held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceding the funeral Mass.
The wake service was offered Tuesday at the funeral home by the Rev. Coppola.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Anthony L. Mazzetti Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Anthony L. Mazzetti, who died Oct. 27, 2002, was celebrated Thursday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.
Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray.
Bearers were Stephen Hooks, George Sealy and Al Cobuzzi.
A prayer service was held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceding the funeral Mass.
A reception for friends and family was held at the Mazzetti residence on Fairview Street following the committal service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Barbara L. Nash Rites
CLAREMONT, N.H. — The funeral service for Barbara L. Nash, 81, who died Oct. 28, 2002, was held Thursday at Union Episcopal Church in West Claremont with the Rev. Cassius L. Webb, rector, officiating. Burial followed in Walpole cemetery in Walpole.
A reception followed in the Parish Hall.

Ruth St. Marie Manley
Ruth St. Marie Manley, born December 31, 1908, in Malone, N.Y., daughter of Belle and Alphonse St. Marie, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in Concord, Mass. Ruth, wife of Walter Manley, raised their children in Rutland. After retiring from Howe Scale, she moved to the Orlando, Fla., area, returning to Massachusetts these past three years. While in Rutland, Ruth was a homemaker, knitted, played bridge and was active in St. Peter’s parish where her children attended school at St. Peter’s and Mount St. Joseph Academy.
Surviving Ruth are four children, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three sisters.
Surviving children are son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Linda Manley, their daughter Stephanie Manley, and son Christopher Manley and his wife Tricia, all of Denver, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Chet Dymsza, Concord, Mass., their daughters, Kimberly and her husband Tom Spock, Providence, R.I., and children, Nathaniel, Melissa and Christopher, Laurie and her husband Stephen Cullinane, Lunenburg, Mass., and their children, Kaitlyne, Megan and Brittany, Paula and her husband Jeffrey Junker, Northboro, Mass., and their children, Julia and James; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Susanne Manley, Shawnee, Okla., and their children, Heather Manley, Ashville, N.C., and Michael Manley, Dallas, Texas, and son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Ann Manley, Orlando, Fla., and their children, Bryan Manley and Charlotte Manley, Orlando, Fla. Ruth leaves three sisters, Sister Monica St. Marie, Wilmington, Del., Rita Fitzsimmons and her husband Robert, Malone, N.Y., and Helen Dalphin, Hanover, N.H.
She was a member of the Sodality of the Most Holy Rosary at St. Peter’s Church.
Ruth was a great example of independence and perseverance. She never lost her sharp wit, her deep faith and her love of children. Her family loves her and shall miss her.
Friends may call on Saturday at the Clifford Funeral Home from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2.
Reception with family members will be at Royal’s Hearthside on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Genevieve T. Biggi
Genevieve T. Biggi, 79, of Rutland, died Oct. 31, 2002, at Mountain View Center Genesis ElderCare.
She was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Center Rutland, the daughter of Paul and Antonia (Wotka) Jaskot.
She worked at Rosenblatz Dress Co., and retired from General Electric Co. after 30 years of service.
Mrs. Biggi was a member of Christ the King Church.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, picking blueberries and quilting.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Biggi of Rutland; two sons, Richard Biggi of Brandon and Thomas Biggi of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Pauline Taggart of Rutland; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clito Biggi, in 1976; four sisters, Mary Dydo, Stella Wasik, Sophie Kantorski and Casey Jaskot; and two brothers, Theodore Giebutowski and Michael Jaskot.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home.
