Lorraine H. Thomas
CASTLETON — The graveside memorial service for Lorraine H. Thomas, 88, who died Jan. 22, 2000, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Cedar Grove cemetery in Fair Haven.
Mrs. Thomas’ body was donated to medical research through the University of Vermont, College of Medicine at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Shirley Cimonette-Razaitis Rites
The funeral service for Shirley Cimonette-Razaitis, 68, of Rutland, who died Oct. 25, 2002, was held Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland with the Rev. Bruce Bishop, pastor of First Baptist Church in Rutland, officiating. Burial will take place Thursday at 2 p.m. in Maple Grove cemetery in East Wallingford.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rutland Area Visiting Nurse-Hospice, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, 05702.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Eva M. Hall Rites
CASTLETON — The funeral service for Eva Mae Hall, 86, who died Oct. 25, 2002, was held Tuesday at the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven with the Rev. Robert Bouffard, pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Castleton, officiating. Burial followed in Hillside cemetery in Castleton.
Soloists were nieces, Doreen Dodge and Lorraine Sweeney.
Bearers were grandsons and great-grandsons, Joshua Chisamore, Kyle Chisamore, Jonathan Piper, Dick Sweeney, Ronnie Sweeney and Gary Sweeney.
The family received friends at the Trak-In in Bomoseen for a time of fellowship following the committal service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
LeRoy R. Davis
MANCHESTER — The memorial service for LeRoy R. Davis, who died Sept. 17, 2002, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Federated Church in Arlington with the Rev. Joan O’Gorman, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Factory Point cemetery in Manchester at a later date.
A reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
Anthony Mazzetti
BENNINGTON — Anthony L. Mazzetti, 102, died Oct. 27, 2002, at home.
He was born June 13, 1900, in Cantalupo, Italy, the son of Joseph and Nazarena (Cittidini) Mazzetti. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1910, settling in Westchester County, Tuckahoe, N.Y.
He attended the local schools and later studied to become a landscape architect.
He married
Dora Bargellini on Oct. 1, 1922. She died in 1994.
Mr. Mazzetti worked with his father operating a nursery and landscaping business. During World War II, he worked at National Carbon Co., later as a caretaker for the Quackenbush estate in Old Bennington, and retired from Dodge Fibers of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., in 1969.
He enjoyed his garden and flowers, and hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Mazzette of Bennington; two daughters, Anne Hooks and Marfisa Pino, both of Bennington; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Eugene Mazzetti, Joseph Mazzetti II and Frank Mazzetti; and three sisters, Natalie Mazzetti, Elizabeth Vasile and Marfisa Mazzetti.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with a Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Park Lawn cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Amundo Playotes
BENNINGTON — Amundo Playotes, 84, died Oct. 29, 2002, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Alex and Christina (Petras) Kilekas.
She received her education in Lynn schools.
She married
Peter Playotes in 1935 in Bennington. He died in 1977.
Survivors include a son, John Playotes of Troy, N.Y.; three grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a sister, Sylvia Kiekas of Savannah, Ga.
She was predeceased by a son, Gregory Playotes, in 1975.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Park Lawn cemetery.

Hattie M. Bowers Rites
NORTH SPRINGFIELD — The funeral service for Hattie M. Bowers, 76, who died Oct. 25, 2002, was held at Precision Valley Baptist Church in North Springfield with F.B. Huey officiating. Burial followed in Cavendish cemetery.
Organist was Carol Wing.
Pallbearers were Don Lloyd, Tom Smith, Roger Bidgood, Russell Tyrell, Chad Perrino and Bob Wilhelmy.
A reception was held at the church after the committal service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Chester.
Ethel Fletcher
LEICESTER — Ethel Irene Fletcher, 102, died Oct. 29, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 9, 1899, in New Haven, the daughter of Peter and Minnie (Gerow) Swenor.
She graduated from Beeman Academy in New Haven.
She married
Leon Shackett. They farmed first in East Middlebury and later in Leicester.
Mr. Shackett died in 1942. She later married
Leo Fletcher, who died in 1965.
Mrs. Fletcher was the overseer of the poor in Leicester during the 1940s.
She was a member of the Homemakers Club and the Senior Citizens, both in Leicester. She had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Leicester.
Survivors include two sons, Leon Shackett of Leicester and Roderick Shackett of Elyria, Ohio; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Roy Shackett; and four sisters, Frances Shaw, Alice Schmaldienst, Elizabeth Ashley and Lucy Armstrong.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Meeting House in Leicester with the Rev. Larry Keiser, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Leicester, officiating. A private burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in New Haven.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home.

Robert W. Lee
GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Robert W. Lee, 86, died Oct. 28, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle.
He was born May 20, 1916, in Granville, the son of Clifford and Lena (Woodell) Lee.
He worked at Telescope Casual Furniture for seven years, and retired from Finch and Pruyn in 1977 after 22 years of service. He was also a self-employed farmer.
Mr. Lee enjoyed cutting wood and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Florence (Hall) Lee; five daughters, Priscilla Loomis of Truthville, Roberta Jones and Dorothea Parker, both of Granville, Caroline Burke of Hampton and Wanda Schaffernoth of Hebron; a brother, Paul Lee of Granville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church in South Granville with the Rev. Robert Flower officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.

John E. Jones
GRANVILLE, N.Y. — John E. “Jack” Jones, 77, died Oct. 28, 2002, at his home after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
He was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Granville, the son of John and Gladys (Williams) Jones.
He graduated from Granville High School in 1942.
He worked in the area slate quarries, was a partner in Western Slate Co. from 1958 to 1973, worked in construction for a few years and later worked at Norton Sealant Co., retiring in 1990.
Mr. Jones was a U.S. Navy veteran stationed in the Caribbean.
He was a member of Falvey-Fringe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1653, serving six times as post commander, and also served on the Granville School Board.
He was an avid ice fisherman, and enjoyed hunting and target shooting.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Anita (Jause) Jones; three sons, Andrew of Warm Springs, Va., John Jr. of Queensbury and David of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Aldrich of Granville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Kate Jones of Granville and Elizabeth Trabka of Shelton, Conn.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville with the Rev. Robert Flower officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery.
Calling hours will be held today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth St. Marie Manley
Ruth St. Marie Manley, born December 31, 1908, in Malone, N.Y., daughter of Belle and Alphonse St. Marie, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in Concord, Mass. Ruth, wife of Walter Manley, raised their children in Rutland. After retiring from Howe Scale, she moved to the Orlando, Fla., area, returning to Massachusetts these past three years. While in Rutland, Ruth was a homemaker, knitted, played bridge and was active in St. Peter’s parish where her children attended school at St. Peter’s and Mount St. Joseph Academy.
Surviving Ruth are four children, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three sisters.
Surviving children are son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Linda Manley, their daughter Stephanie Manley, and son Christopher Manley and his wife Tricia, all of Denver, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Chet Dymsza, Concord, Mass., their daughters, Kimberly and her husband Tom Spock, Providence, R.I., and children, Nathaniel, Melissa and Christopher, Laurie and her husband Stephen Cullinane, Lunenburg, Mass., and their children, Kaitlyne, Megan and Brittany, Paula and her husband Jeffrey Junker, Northboro, Mass., and their children, Julia and James; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Susanne Manley, Shawnee, Okla., and their children, Heather Manley, Ashville, N.C., and Michael Manley, Dallas, Texas, and son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Ann Manley, Orlando, Fla., and their children, Bryan Manley and Charlotte Manley, Orlando, Fla. Ruth leaves three sisters, Sister Monica St. Marie, Wilmington, Del., Rita Fitzsimmons and her husband Robert, Malone, N.Y., and Helen Dalphin, Hanover, N.H.
She was a member of the Sodality of the Most Holy Rosary at St. Peter’s Church.
Ruth was a great example of independence and perseverance. She never lost her sharp wit, her deep faith and her love of children. Her family loves her and shall miss her.
Friends may call on Saturday at the Clifford Funeral Home from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2.
Reception with family members will be at Royal’s Hearthside on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.
