Timothy A. Ryan
Timothy A. Ryan, 49, of Rutland, died October 1, 2002, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass., after a brief illness.
He was born in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., March 25, 1953, the son of Edward and Patricia (Loriot) Ryan.
He was a graduate of Beth Page High School in Beth Page, N.Y.
He married
Susan Yarsinske on June 7, 1975, in Long Island.
He was a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician at OMYA Inc.
He was a member of Christ the King Church, Italian Aid Society and Rutland Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed golfing, the outdoors, and had a love for photography.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and a friend to all.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Ryan of Rutland; two daughters, Dori S. Ryan and Arielle L. Ryan, both of Rutland; a brother, Edward Ryan of Hicksville, L.I., N.Y.; three sisters, Patricia Schuerlein of Beth Page, L.I., N.Y., Roseanne Manke and Rosemary Ryan, both of Hicksville, L.I., N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.
Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Cancer Center, in care of Rutland Regional Medical Center, Allen Street, Rutland, or Leukemia Foundation.

Karl H. Von Mueller
Karl H. Von Mueller, 73, of Rutland, formerly of Atwater, Calif., died peacefully Wednesday, October 3, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 4, 1929, in Hamburg, Germany, the son of Erik and Annie (Wilke) Von Mueller.
Mr. Von Mueller married
Ingrid Weichelt of Berlin, Germany, on Aug. 10, 1957.
Mr. Von Mueller served in the United States Air Force for 23 years as an intelligence and a personal affairs officer. After retiring from the service he worked as a welfare fraud investigator in Merced County, California.
He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Legion Post 31 and of Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, boating, stamp collecting and was a man who loved gadgets.
Survivors include his wife of Rutland; two sons, Christian Von Mueller and wife Judy from Poway, Calif., and Eric Von Mueller and wife Joy from Atwater, Calif.; a daughter, Katherine Peterson of Chittenden and husband James; a sister, Ingrid Anderson of Valparaiso, Ind.; three grandchildren, Heidi and Holly Peterson of Chittenden and Justin Von Mueller of Atwater, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and burial will be held at the Veterans cemetery in Randolph, Vt., on October 9 at 12 noon with the Reverend George Gustke of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 31, 13 Washington Street, Rutland from 3 to 5 p.m.
There are no calling hours.

Mary Ann Stratton
Mary Ann Stratton, 55, of Rutland, died Oct. 3, 2002, at her home.
She was born Dec. 26, 1946, in Rutland, the daughter of Donald and June (Smith) Stratton.
She graduated from John Marshall High School and Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. She also attended Shelton College in Florida.
She worked as a teacher at Vermont Adult Learning for 13 years.
Ms. Stratton had been active with the Signet Players, performing in "The Sound of Music" and "Carousel." She enjoyed photography and won a "Best in Show" award this year at the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, as well as an honorable mention. She also enjoyed her flowers.
Survivors include her mother, June Soine of Rutland; a sister, Jacqueline Coburn of Rutland; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her father; and her stepfather, Dr. Peter Soine.
The graveside service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in East Clarendon cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Tossing Funeral Home.

Thomas W. Harrison
MENDON - Thomas W. "Scratch" Harrison, 46, died Thursday, October 3, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born on October 10, 1955, in Proctor, Vt., the son of David J. and Dorothy (Gollstrom) Harrison Sr.
He has been employed by General Electric Company in Rutland for the past 24 years.
Tom was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Italian Aid Society and the Elks Club in Rutland. He also belonged to the Proctor-Pittsford Country Club in Pittsford, and was an avid golfer and fan of the sport. He also enjoyed playing Shuffleboard.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy E. Smith and her husband Vernon of Proctor; a brother, David J. Harrison, his wife Donna and their son Sean of Proctor; a sister, Mary L. Rizk, her husband John and their daughters, Heather and Sarah of Mendon; a brother, John "Perk" Harrison of Rutland; a brother, Edward Harrison, his wife Robin and their daughters, Hillary and Lindsay of Brandon; a sister, Marie Fitzgerald, her husband David and their son Nathan of Pittsford; a sister, Wanda Bushey, her husband Thomas and their daughters, Brittany and Courtney of Pittsford; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tom was predeceased by his father; two brothers, Michael and Robert; and his beloved niece, Ashley Fitzgerald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Proctor. Burial will follow in St. Dominic's cemetery in Proctor.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Tom's memory to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, P.O. Box 576, Waterbury, Vt., 05676, or a favorite charity of one's choice.
Following the committal service, a reception for family and friends will be held at the Rutland Moose Lodge on Center Street in Rutland.

William Richard Rowe
BRANDON - William Richard Rowe, age 92, died early Thursday morning, October 3, 2002, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland.
Mr. Rowe was born in Brandon on October 31, 1909. He was the son of John A. and Ellen (Warner) Rowe. He received his early education in a one-room schoolhouse in Florence. In his earlier years he worked as a Crane Operator at Patch-Wagner Foundry in Rutland. He later worked a short time at Rutland Creamery. He embarked on his career as a Barber at Hollywood Barber Shop on Merchant's Row, where he learned the trade from Louis Vigno. Mr. Rowe opened Rowe's Barber Shop in Brandon in 1932. He owned and operated the shop with his son until finally retiring in 1999, after working 69 years as a Barber. He has been a resident of Rutland since 1978. He was a member of St. Paul's Masonic Lodge 25 in Brandon. He also belonged to Farmers Chapter 9 and Farmers Council 9 Royal Arch Masons.
Surviving is his wife, Catherine (Hyjek) Rowe of Rutland, whom he married
April 2, 1977. One son, Richard W. Rowe of Brandon and a stepson, Philip Hyjek of Middlesex also survives him. Seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive him. His first wife, Evelyn A. Rowe, whom he married
in May 1934, predeceased him May 22, 1971. Shelia Bovi, a daughter, predeceased him in 1998, and a son, Gordon Lee predeceased him in 1999. Two brothers and one sister also predeceased him.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002, at 10 a.m. at The Brandon Congregational Church. The Rev. Richard White, Pastor, will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will follow in the family lot, at Pine Hill cemetery, where members of St. Paul's Masonic Lodge will conduct a graveside Masonic Service.
Friends paid their respects at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon on Friday, October 4, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Elsie F. Eklund
Elsie F. Eklund, 77, of Rutland, died Oct. 4, 2002, at her home.

Virginia A. Hall
POULTNEY - Virginia A. Hall, 86, died October 3, 2002.
Mrs. Hall was born March 13, 1916, in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Dexter C. and Dulcia (Tyrrell) Van Ostrand.
She was a graduate of Amasa (Michigan) High School, Milwaukee Downer and the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. She taught high school biology and physical education, and coached both girls' and boys' sports teams. An accomplished athlete, she played many sports, including professional basketball. She was also an equestrienne.
During World War II, Mrs. Hall was a lieutenant (j.g.) in the U.S. Navy. While in the service she met and married
Dr. William E. Hall. At the end of the war they returned to his hometown of Meriden, Connecticut. Mrs. Hall was active with the Meriden Girls Club, the Charity Club and the Visiting Nurses Association, and was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was life-long member of the D.A.R. and a member of the First Congregational Church. Mrs. Hall lived in Meriden for fifty years, moving to Poultney, Vermont after Dr. Hall's death.
Mrs. Hall is survived by a sister, Del Mercer of Hamden, Connecticut; a son, William Hall and his wife Judith of Branford, Connecticut; a daughter, Wheatley Bergen and her husband Terry of Poultney, Vermont; and three grandchildren, Rebecca and Deborah Hall and William Bergen. She is also survived by a niece and good friends.
She was predeceased by her husband; and a sister, Amorette Van Ostrand.
A memorial service will be held in Connecticut at a later date.

Robert O. Eddy Rites
The funeral Mass for Robert O. Eddy, 90, of Rutland, who died Oct. 1, 2002, was celebrated Friday at Christ the King Church with the Rev. Reid C. Mayo, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Calvary cemetery.
Bearers were Mark Foley, Joseph Cerreta and Donald Adams Jr.
A prayer service was held Thursday afternoon at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Mayo.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

POULTNEY - The funeral Mass for Mary Ann Howard, who died Sept. 29, 2002, was celebrated Thursday at the Church of St. Raphael the Archangel of Poultney with the Rev. Adam J. Krempa, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Heald cemetery in Andover.
Joan C. Blake
BENNINGTON - Joan C. Blake, 65, died Oct. 4, 2002, at her residence in North Bennington following a brief illness.

Fred A. Bacigalupo
WESTMINSTER - Fred A. Bacigalupo, 61, died Oct. 4, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born March 21, 1941, in Orange, Mass., the son of Joseph and Anna (Gerstel) Bacigalupo.
He graduated from Marhar Regional High School in Orange, Mass.
He married
Cindy Sines on July 26, 1972, in Morrisville, Pa.
Mr. Bacigalupo worked as chef in many restaurants in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. He owned and operated Sister's Pizza in Bellows Falls, and for the last 15 years, he worked as a self-employed mason.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and panning for gold and was well-known for his handmade Christmas wreaths.
Survivors include his wife of Westminster; a son, Daniel Bacigalupo of Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Amy Bacigalupo of Westminster and Elizabeth Beecher of West Brattleboro; five brothers, Joseph Bacigalupo of North Hampton, Mass., James Bacigalupo of Washington state, Daniel Bacigalupo of Wendell, Mass., Robert Bacigalupo of Greenfield, Mass., and Charles Bacigalupo of Massachusetts; three sisters, Gloria Douglas of Turners Falls, Mass., Pamela LeClair of Bernardston, Mass., and Jean Forbes of Keene, N.H.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Church in Bellows Falls with the Rev. Margaret Crane officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.
