Louise H. Crossman
LONDONDERRY — Louise H. Crossman, 91, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at Springfield Hospital.
She was born August 14, 1911, in Grafton, the daughter of James and Florence (Colburn) Eddy.
She was raised in Grafton and educated in Grafton and Chester.
She worked summers at Lowell Lake and did housekeeping in the area.
She married
Francis Crossman on December 7, 1935.
She belonged to the Friendship Club in Thompsonburg, enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers, rug braiding, camping, fishing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years; two daughters, Betty Barker and her husband John of Londonderry and Ginger Farquhar and her husband Jamie of Ludlow; a cousin, Arthur Butler; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and three nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Howard Eddy; and two sisters, Mildred Willard and Doris Wright.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 278, South Londonderry, Vt., 05155, or to the Londonderry Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 911, Londonderry, Vt., 05148.
The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in South Londonderry on Friday, October 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Simonsville cemetery. Friends may call at the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Chester on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Leonard V. Perna
SHAFTSBURY — Leonard V. Perna, 79, a resident of Shaftsbury and Deerfield Beach, Fla., died Oct. 9, 2002, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.
He was born May 28, 1923, in Orange, N.J., the son of Leonardo and Leonarda (Devisio) Perna.
He received his education in the Orange schools and later at the University of Miami.
He worked as a sales representative for the Bal Corp. in Newark, N.J.
Mr. Perna was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Perna of Shaftsbury; two daughters, Anabel Dwyer of Shaftsbury and Susan Perna of Middlebury; six grandchildren; a sister, Mary Bonamo of Middlebury; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Castaldo and Alba Russell; and two brothers, Angelo Perna and Joseph Perna.
The memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Chapel Road Church with the Rev. Amy Arnold, pastor, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

Stanley E. Shaw
KEENE, N.H. — Stanley E. Shaw, 82, died Oct. 6, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born June 6, 1920, in Rutland, Vt., the son of Edmund and Patricia (Coates) Shaw.
He graduated from Rutland (Vt.) High School in 1938 and Syracuse University in 1942 with a bachelor’s degree.
He worked for American Airlines for 37 years as a meteorologist, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Shaw was a member of the Harlow, Taft, Varney Family Associations, a volunteer with the Historical Society of Cheshire County and a member of the Vermont Historical Society. He was also a member of the Genealogical Society of Vermont, New Hampshire Society of Genealogists, New Hampshire Historical Society, and the New England Historical and Genealogical Society.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Margaret (Bartlett) Shaw of Keene; two daughters, Pamela Record of Port Washington, N.Y., and Marjorie Decker of Palmetto, Ga.; two stepsons, Jeffrey Bartlett of Minneapolis, Minn., and Dan Bartlett of Alstead; one stepdaughter, Carol Renzelman of Alstead; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Walpole. Burial will take place in Calverton National cemetery on Long Island, N.Y.
There will be no calling hours.

Edward H. Rushford Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Edward H. Rushford, 75, who died Oct. 6, 2002, was held Thursday in Simonsville cemetery in Andover with the Rev. John Martens of Chester, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Leo L. Harrington Rites
SHAFTSBURY — The funeral service for Leo L. Harrington, who died Oct. 8, 2002, was held Thursday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Gratz, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Johnsonville, N.Y., officiating. Burial followed in Center Shaftsbury cemetery.
Bearers were Kenneth Harrington Jr., Michael Harrington, Michael Christmas, Gary Wendell, Thomas Browe and Ronald Lindsey.
A reception was held at his son’s home following the committal service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Mildred B. LaCoe
Mildred “Billie” LaCoe, 92, of Rutland, died Oct. 11, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Rutland, the daughter of Harry and Pauline (Hevey) Merritt.
She worked as a waitress at Barber’s Restaurant in Mendon for many years.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Survivors include a son, Richard LaCoe of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Earlene Bernier of Apple Valley, Calif., Barbara Murphy of Rutland and Joan Manning of Rutland; a sister, Shirley Merritt of Rutland; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earle LaCoe, in 1991; a brother, Harold Merritt; a grandson and a granddaughter.
The memorial service is pending for Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Alice F. Kilburn
HUBBARDTON — The funeral service for Alice Fiske (Cole) Kilburn, 85, who died Oct. 9, 2002, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jeanne L. Rodgers
Jeanne L. Rodgers, 76, of Rutland, died Oct. 11, 2002, at her home.
She was born August 11, 1926, in Scranton, Pa., the daughter of Linton and Dorothy (Chapman) Hazlett.
She graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va.
She married
Richard Rodgers on Oct. 9, 1954.
Mrs. Rodgers worked as the assistant advertising manager for the Security Mutual Insurance Co. in Binghamton, N.Y., for several years.
She was a volunteer at the Rutland Regional Medical Center for many years.
She enjoyed music and loved to play the piano.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Rodgers of Rutland; a son, Richard Linton Rodgers of Glenmont, N.Y.; three grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Smith of Yarmouth, Maine; and a niece.
The memorial service will be held at Grace Congregational Church Chapel at a later date.
There will be no calling hours.

SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Robert G. Cota, 67, who died Oct. 5, 2002, was held Friday in Oakland cemetery in Springfield with Don Bascom of North Springfield officiating.

SOUTH LONDONDERRY — The funeral service for Louise H. Crossman, 91, who died Oct. 9, 2002, was held Friday at the First Baptist Church in South Londonderry with the Rev. Malcolm Hamblett officiating.
Burial followed in Simonsville cemetery.
Organist was Addie Barker.
Pallbearers were Philip Barker, Stewart Barker, Brian Stowell, Andy Stowell, Don Stowell and Jim Farquhar.
A reception was held at the South Londonderry Town Offices following the committal service.

Charles T. Wood
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Charles T. Wood, 75, died Oct. 9, 2002, at Prestwick Chase at Saratoga Springs.
He was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Montvale, Va., the son of Charles and Myrtle (Myers) Wood.
He graduated from William Fleming High School in Roanoke, Va., and the Medical College of Virginia.
He was retired from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital and Infirmary in Boston, where he was the chief executive officer.
Mr. Wood was a Coast Guard veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Melrose, Mass., and the Waquait Congregational Church in Waquait, Mass. He was also chairman of the Massachusetts Hospital Association, the New England Hospital Assembly and the American College Hospital Executives Association.
He enjoyed reading, hiking and shell fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley (Moorehead) Wood; three daughters, Debra Roberts of Mahtomedi, Minn., Sandra Lourie of West Rupert, Vt., and Gail Wood of Guerneville, Calif.; a son, Jeffrey Wood of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Ada Nottingham of South Mills, N.C., and Alene Mays of Fairfax, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Rupert, with the Rev. Mary Beth Hutchinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rupert cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
