Laura B. Schumer

Memorial services for Laura Bakewell Schumer, 11, who died Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at her home, were held Saturday, November 6, 1999 in Meade Chapel on the Middlebury College campus.
Laura was born December 7, 1987 in Burlington, a daughter of Peter and Lucy Schumer. She attended Mary Hogan Elementary School, and was in the 6th grade. She enjoyed outings, and often joined her parents and siblings on walks around Middlebury village. She enjoyed music and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her parents, Peter and Lucy Schumer of Middlebury; a brother, Andrew Schumer and a sister, Amy Schumer, also of Middlebury; an aunt and uncle, Douglas and Barbara Schumer of Minnesota; her maternal grandparents, John and Betty Harding of Carson City, Nevada and two cousins, Ariel and Suzanne Schumer, both of Minnesota.

Leonard Desjadon
Cornwall, Vermont
Leonard Andrew "Lenny" Desjadon, Sr., 36, died unexpectedly on November 5, 1999 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Middlebury on February 7, 1963, the son of Charles and Linda (Blaise) Desjadon. He was currently employed as a logger working with John Cram. He was formerly employed with William Holdman Trucking, Inc. and the Depot Farm Supply. He had been a member of the National Guard for six years.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Leonard A. Desjadon, Jr. and Tiffany Amber Desjadon of Cornwall, his mother, Linda Desjadon of Ripton, his brothers, Charles W. Desjadon, III and his wife Kay, of Ripton, Michael Desjadon, Sr. and his companion Sue Curavoo of Middlebury, Curtis Desjadon and his companion Donna Brace of Middlebury, his sisters, Elizabeth Desjadon and her companion David Many of Salisbury, Debra Larocque and her husband Roger of Ripton. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Bernie and Sue Hobbs of Orwell; brothers-in-law, Matt and his wife, Tammy O'Dell of Fontaine, Colorado and Cory O'Dell of Rutland. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 12, 1999 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury. Public calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 7-9 pm at Sanderson Funeral Service, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury, Vermont.
Interment and committal services will follow in Cook Cemetery in Ripton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to a family fund through the Cornwall Elementary School, 112 School Road, Cornwall, Vermont 05753.

Floyd C. Heath, Jr.
Starksboro, Vermont
Floyd Clifford Heath, Jr., died peacefully at the home of his sister Charlene Phelps surrounded by loving family on November 6, 1999 following a short illness.
He was born in Burlington on March 25, 1949, the oldest son of Floyd C. and Beatrice (Tuttle) Heath, Sr.
He attended school at Mt. Mansfield Union High School until his 11th year, when he decided to drop out, get a job to get money and help his parents raise all his brothers and sisters.
He dedicated his whole life to farming, which he learned by following in his father's footsteps. He also lived to hunt. He enjoyed the outdoors greatly, the fresh air and peace he felt being in the woods, his keen eyesight for spotting deer tracks and tree rubbings. He also enjoyed the many weekends at deer camp, getting it ready for the big hunt, the funny deer stories and Mom's great cooking. He enjoyed his many flower beds, making sure the colors were just right. Floyd had a great love for family. His love for his family and grandchildren meant a lot to him. He was always willing to teach anything that the kids wanted to learn about.
A nickname "Toe Joe" was given to him by his Grandpa, Tuttle, which many family members still called him.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Dianne (Wells) Heath; his parents Floyd and Beatrice Heath, Sr. of Addison; Grandmother Bernice Tuttle of Bristol; three daughters, Kitty Heath and friend Kevin Dumas of Lowell, Deanna Heath and friend Jeff Harris of Wolcott, Kami and his husband Izaak Draper of Elmore; son Floyd Heath, III of Starksboro; two stepsons, Geoffrey Spoerl of Lowell; seven brothers and six sisters; Charlene and her husband, Norman Phelps of Starksboro, William and his wife Ann Heath, Sr. of North Ferrisburgh, Richard and his wife, Nancy Heath of Bristol, Diane and her husband Romaine Tomlinson of Natick, Massachusetts, Darlene of Rutland, Clifford and his wife Kim Heath of Rutland, David and his wife Linda Heath of Rutland, Brenda and her husband Roy Ashley of North Ferrisburgh, Debra and her husband Doug Mobbs of Richmond, Tina and her husband Herb Heath of Barre, Raymond of Burlington, Gary and his wife Vanessa Heath of Starksboro, Kelly and his wife Maureen Heath of Addison. Floyd had three grandchildren, Heather Lowell of Lowell, Deven Bingham of Wolcott, Elexus Draper of Elmore. Floyd will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his loving ways and great humor.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 1999 at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol.

Lincoln Ford
Brandon, Vermont
Lincoln Ford, 71, died Monday, November 8, 1999 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Mr. ford was born in South Hadley Falls, Massachusetts on December 31, 1927. He was the son of William and Georgianna (Remillard) Ford. He was a graduate of South Hadley Falls High School. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea. Afterward, he attended the University of Delaware where he received his degree in Engineering. He later continued his education at the University of Maryland. He was a self-employed Hydraulic Engineer and had owned and operated Lincoln Associates. He retired in 1985. He had been a resident of Brandon since April 1982, moving there from Laurel, Maryland. In his earlier years he had coached Little League Baseball, Football and CYO Basketball. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, SPBSA-Charter member of Wilmington, Delaware Barbershop of America and of St. Mary's/St. Agnes Catholic Church. He had worked as a volunteer at Rutland Regional Medical Center, RSVP, the United Way of Rutland County, as well as volunteer work for the local Brandon Town Office.
Surviving is his wife Ann Marie (Mayhart) Ford of Brandon; whom he married in Laurel, Maryland on April 16, 1971; brothers-in-law, James A. Mayhart, K. Greg Mayhart, Henri L. Mayhart all of Wilmington, Delaware and Donald X. Mayhart of Brandon. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother William G. Ford.
A memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at a later date, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Leicester Junction. A private burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Geoffrey E. Booth
Lincoln, Vermont
Geoffrey E. Booth, 56, passed away Monday, November 8, 1999 at his home in Lincoln, surrounded by his family and friends. He fought a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Geoffrey was born October 9, 1943 in Middlebury, Vermont, the son of the late Ralph Field Booth and Beatrice E. Duclos. Geoff attended school in Vergennes, Vermont. he was employed by Electric boat since 1976 in Groton, Connecticut where he was a crane operator. He retired to Vermont to be in the mountains that he so dearly loved. He was an avid outdoor sportsman.
Geoff is leaving behind one son, Geoffrey E. Booth, Jr. of Lincoln; a daughter, Holly M. Booth of Jewett City, Connecticut; the mother of his children, Donann (Booth) Fogg of Uncasville, Connecticut; his mother, Beatrice Booth of Voluntown, Connecticut; three brothers, Ralph Booth and his wife Sandy of Bristol, Vermont; Courtney Booth and his wife Barbara of East Line, Connecticut; and Kevin Booth and his wife Janie of East Line, Connecticut; five nieces, Lisa, Erica, Amy, Michelle, and Kelly; one nephew, Eric; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and an abundance of good friends.
He was predeceased by his father Ralph Booth in 1982. Geoff will be greatly missed by all that have been touched by his life.
His life was celebrated in a mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Vergennes on Friday, November 12, 1999. Burial will follow at a later date.

Rudolph W. Thompson, 75, died Friday, November 12, 1999 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
He was born December 19, 1923 in Starksboro, the son of Vesper and Kate (Moody) Thompson.
He was a farmer in Starksboro for many years, then was employed by the State of Vermont Highway Department for 23 years.
Rudy was a hard worker and enjoyed his family and friends.
He is survived by a son Roger Thompson of Starksboro; a daughter Sharon and her husband Ken Lunde, Sr. of Barre; two grandsons, Ken Lunde, Jr. and Matthew Lunde; three sisters Celia Clime of Maryland; Oletha and her husband Robert Bickford of New Jersey, Leona Fawaz of California; three brothers, Robert and his wife Arlene Thompson of Lincoln, Kenneth Thompson of White River Junction, Elwyn and his wife Vivian Thompson of Maryland; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment was in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.

Suzanna Laramie
Vergennes, Vermont
Suzanna Laramie, 86, died Thursday, November 11, 1999 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
She was born August 28, 1913 in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Milnar) Valish.
Sue owned and operated Sues Beauty Shop on Main Street with her sister for many years; and later from her home on Green Street in Vergennes.
Sue was predeceased by her husband Ernest.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Paul and Barbara Laramie of Vergennes; five grandchildren, two nephews, James Chapman of South Burlington, John and his wife Nancy Brigan of Vergennes; several grand nieces and nephews. May her memory be eternal.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 15, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes.

Fernand J. Ouellette
Orwell, Vermont
Fernand J. Ouellette, 60, died November 15, 1999 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with kidney cancer.
He was born January 26, 1939 in Orwell, the son of Henry and Rose (Preseau) Ouellette. He attended school in Orwell and graduated from Brandon High School in 1957. He worked at Mill Bridge Construction for many years as a skilled carpenter. He was a very loving husband, father and friend.
Survivors include his wife Linda Ouellette of Orwell; three sons, Rick Ouellette of Rutland, Chris Ouellette of South Burlington, and Dean Ouellette of Weybridge; three daughters, Michelle Armacost of Hinsdale, Massachusetts, Andrea Navin of Rutland, and Sara Ouellette of Orwell, Edmund Ouellette of Orwell, Paul Ouellette of Bridport, Emile Ouellette of Cornwall, and Raymond Ouellette of Shoreham; four sisters, Theresa Mattsson of Manchester, Connecticut, Alice Brunet of Sudbury, Sylvia Martin of Benson, and Vivian Larocque of Cornwall; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Charles Ouellette.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, November 18, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury. Father John McDermott was the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial followed in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.
