Rose M. Esposito Rites
The funeral service for Rose M. Esposito, 84, who died July 29, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, was held Wednesday at Christ the King Church. The Rev. Thomas V. Mattison, associate pastor, officiated.
Burial followed in Calvary cemetery.
Sr. Pauline Gratton was organist. Sr. Francis Patrick was vocalist.
Bearers were Eugene Esposito, Joseph Duskiewicz, Richard Cillo, Christopher Charest, Christopher Perkins and Brad Perkins.
Prayer services were offered Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home.
Esther F. Adams
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Esther F. Adams, 88, died July 30, 2002, at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, N.H.
She was born April 11, 1914, in Eden, the daughter of Horace and Mary (Hill) Fogg. She attended school in Eden and graduated from Hartford High School.
She married
Lyle A. Adams on July 15, 1949, in Woodstock, and they moved to White River Junction.
They raised several foster children and she was named Foster Mother of the Year by the state of Vermont in 1963.
Mr. Adams died Nov. 16, 1969, and she moved to Greystone Village in 1982.
Survivors include eight daughters Anne Rule of White River Junction, Phyllis Parent of Essex Junction, Mary Demorest of Clinton, Conn., Elizabeth Cilley of Canaan, N.H., Jean Dickerson of Grantham, N.H., Cynthia Gilbert of Enfield, N.H., Gloria Gilbert of Leominster, Mass., and Linda Joseph of Cortland, N.Y.; two sons, Richard Cushman of Manchester, N.H., and Archie Benware of Northfield; 25 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Ballard of Malone, N.Y., and Arlene Calvi of White River Junction; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Harold, Verne, Wendell and Frank Fogg, and by a sister, Edith Howard.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church with burial following in West Hartford cemetery.

Lawrence E. Davis
SPRINGFIELD — A committal service for Lawrence E. Davis who died Jan. 1, 2001, in Charleston, S.C., will be held Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, in Springfield.
Mr. Davis will be transported to Oakland cemetery aboard his restored 1918 American LaFrance fire truck.
Friends are asked to meet at the Springfield Fire Department at 12:45 p.m. to form the processional.
Rites will be performed by Mario Cruz.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Springfield Fire Department.
William A. Rodd
SHAFTSBURY — William A. Rodd, 51, died July 29, 2002, at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Bennington on March 28, 1951, the son of Albert P. Rodd and Dorothy (Bacon) Powers.
He received his education in Bennington schools.
Mr. Rodd was U.S. Army Vietnam veteran serving from June 10, 1968, to June 9, 1974. He was a helicopter mechanic and served on several med-evac rescue teams in Vietnam. While in the service he was decorated with several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
In earlier years he worked at the former Bennington Display Company and later as a logger. He often spoke of his experiences clearing the Timber Creek project at Mount Snow in West Dover. He also worked as a self-employed handyman until his retirement due to illness.
Mr. Rodd married
Nancy Pratt, his partner of 22 years in White Creek, N.Y., in January 2001.
He was member of VFW Post 1332 and of the color guard there.
He enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds, going to tag sales and working on his 1956 Dodge Coronet.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Marcy Rodd of Bennington; two sons, Mark Rodd of Bennington and Jason Rodd of Shaftsbury; a stepson, George Davis of Bennington; three grandchildren; his mother of Shaftsbury; four sisters, Betty Myers and Laurie
Powers, both of Bennington, Barbara Brunelle of Burlington and Dorothy Allen of North Bennington; two brothers, Fred Powers of Williston and John Powers of Shaftsbury; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Rodd.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Bernice B. Reynolds
MANCHESTER — Bernice B. Reynolds, 79, a lifelong resident of Manchester, and seasonal resident of Naples, Fla., died July 30, 2002, at the Centers for the Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.
She was born in Bennington, Oct. 3, 1922, the daughter of Guy and Carolyn (Carver) Reynolds. She graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary.
She continued her education when she enlisted in the U.S. Army, working in intelligence and specialized in breaking codes as a cryptographer.
On Sept. 8, 1944, she married
Henry E. Reynolds in the Valley Forge Army Hospital Chapel in Phoenixville, Pa.
Following their service in the military the Reynolds settled in Manchester where they operated the Colonial Crafts gift shop in Manchester Village. Mrs. Reynolds also worked for many years as a Realtor for Walker Real Estate in Manchester.
She served as a treasurer in Manchester Village and served on the board at Burr and Burton Academy and also at Dellwood cemetery. She was a member of the Manchester Country Club and Green Mountain Girls of the Equanic.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Jonathan Reynolds of Venice, Fla.; a brother, Guy Butterfield of Sun Valley, Idaho; a sister, Barbara Polstan of Charlotte, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Dellwood cemetery in Manchester Village.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a favorite charity in care of Brewster Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, 05255.
Roger P. Young
BRANDON — The funeral service for Roger Paul Young, 53, who died July 31, 2002 at Rutland Regional Medical Center, has been changed from Saturday, Aug. 3 to Monday, Aug. 5.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home.
David Place Rites
CLARENDON — A funeral service for David M. Place, 63, who died July 29, 2002, at his home, was held Thursday at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Officiating was the Rev. Robert Rainville, associate pastor of Roadside Chapel Assembly of God Church in Rutland.
Military services were provided by American Legion Post 31.
Thelma C. Miles
SPRINGFIELD — Thelma C. “Connie” Miles, 87, formerly of Springfield, died July 29 at the Florida Home Health Care Center in Bunnell, Fla.
She was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Mount Tabor, the daughter of Stafford and Nellie (Collins) Carney.
She received her nurse’s training from Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, N.Y., and later married
Charles I. Miles on June 3, 1939 in North Adams, Mass. He died in 1990.
Mrs. Miles has resided in Springfield since 1940. She worked as a comptroller at the Jones and Lamson Machine Tool Co. for over 30 years. She also helped her husband with the bookkeeping at their business, Miles Taxi, which they operated for many years. For the past three years she had made her home in Bunnell.
Survivors include a son, Charles P. Miles of Palm Coast, Fla.; a daughter, Betty Bonner of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Davis Memorial Chapel today from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Springfield with the Rev. Joseph Romano officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakland cemetery.

Beatrice C. Lannon
LUDLOW — Beatrice C. Lannon, 97, died at the Gill Home on Aug. 1, 2002 after a long illness.

The Adams and Kenney Funeral Home in Ludlow is in charge of the arrangements.
Donald J. Turner
BELLOWS FALLS — Donald James Turner, 23, died at his home on July 30, 2002.
He was born Dec. 12, 1978, the son of Donald L. Turner Jr. and Barbara Murphy.
Mr. Turner was a 1996 graduate of Bellows Falls Union High School and also attended Community College of Vermont.
He worked for the Rockingham Motor Inn, Putney Paper and Drew Specialty Sauce.
He was an avid Yankee fan and a connoisseur of Chinese cuisine.
Survivors are his father, with whom he lived; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Robert Jumper of Carlisle, Pa.; a sister, Kristen Wilson of Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; his paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Barbara and Howard Patridge of Concord; his great-grandmother, Anne Veilleux; four stepbrothers, Chad, Chris, Ben and B.J., all of Carlisle; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home. A service will be held during the calling hours at 7 p.m.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Charles cemetery in Westminster.
Francis McCoy
BENNINGTON — Francis McCoy, 83, formerly of Bennington and more recently of Largo, Fla., died July 22, 2002, at the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in Bay Pines, Fla., following a long illness.
He was born in Bennington June 13, 1919, the son of the late Lawrence J. and Margaret Theresa (Kelley) McCoy. He received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School.
Mr. McCoy was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
In earlier years he was employed as a machinist with the H.T. Cushman Manufacturing Company in North Bennington. He resided for many years in Clearwater, Fla., where he owned and operated an apartment complex.
Mr. McCoy was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans in Clearwater and a member of Bennington Elks Lodge #567.
Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Marcoux of Bennington and Anne DeRienzo of Keyport, N.J,; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph McCoy and Paul McCoy.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. Burial will be in Park Lawn cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Mary-Lou Moore
SPRINGFIELD — Mary-Lou Moore, 56, died July 31, 2002, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a brief illness.
She was born June 7, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Ray and Lulu (Stokes) Bobar. She attended schools in Springfield and had been a lifelong resident of the community.
She did volunteer work for the SEVCA program in the Springfield area for many years.
Her hobbies included gardening and her animals.
Survivors include her companion of many years, Robert Simonds of Springfield; two sons, Lance R. Parizo of Palm Bay, Fla., and Steven P. Paquin of Springfield; her mother of Springfield; five brothers, Aaron Bobar of Londonderry, Arlan Bobar and Doug Bobar, both of Springfield, Ray Bobar of Charlestown, N.H., and Randy Bobar of Chester; a sister, Beverly Lique of Springfield; several grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis Memorial Chapel.
A private family graveside service will be held Monday in Oakland cemetery.
