Edward J. Crandall
GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Edward J. Crandall, 91, died July 16, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 1, 1910, in Mechanicville, the son of James and Anne (Crosby) Crandall.
He was employed at General Electric Co. in Schenectady for many years.
Mr. Crandall was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include five sons, James Crandall of Melrose, Edward Crandall of Granville, David Crandall of Nashville, Tenn., Rodney Crandall of Craneville, Mass., and Kenneth Crandall of Pawlet, Vt.; four daughters, Anne Baker, Bonnie Wilson and Rebecca Hurlburt, all of Granville, and Laura Crandall of Schenectady; a brother, Mark Crandall of Gloversville; a sister, Louise Rice of St. Petersburg. Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie (Whitney) Crandall.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville with the Rev. Meredith Vanderminden officiating. Burial will follow in Hudson View cemetery in Mechanicville.

Glen E. Perkins
Glen E. Perkins, 84, of Rutland, died July 22, 2002, at his residence.
He was born June 20, 1918, in Piermont, N.H., the son of Ralph and Maude (Barnett) Perkins.
He married
Agnes Hodsdon on Aug. 24, 1958.
Mr. Perkins had been the owner-operator of the 4 Corners Service in Piermont, N.H. He was also employed by the Giancola Construction Co., and a self-employed finish carpenter in the Rutland and Brandon area.
Survivors include his wife of Rutland; three sons, Bruce Perkins of DeRuyter, N.Y., David Perkins of Piermont, N.H., and Gerry Perkins of Benson; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at a later date in South Lawn cemetery in Piermont, N.H.
There will be no calling hours.

Doris Knight
Doris Knight, 85, of Rutland died July 20, 2002, at Haven Health Care Center in Rutland.
She was born Aug. 20, 1916, in Ludlow, the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Soulia) Wilder.
She had been employed by the Red Rob Inn, Pico Lodge, and F&H Fishman’s Department Store for 20 years.
Mrs. Knight was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose, Shrewsbury Snow Birds and the Chittenden Panthers.
She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include a sister, Marion Colburn of Inglis, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Knight, in 1997; and a sister, Dorothy Lancore, in 2000.
The graveside service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in Evergreen cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Florence E. Keyes
POULTNEY — Florence Elizabeth Keyes, 83, a former resident of West Haven, died July 20, 2002, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland.
She was born April 16, 1919, in Westfield, N.J., the daughter of Erik and Elizabeth (Sargent) Ericksen.
Mrs. Keyes was a member of the West Haven Grange and a 4-H leader. After moving to Poultney, she was a member of the Welsh Presbyterian Church, the Poultney Woman’s Club, the Garden Club of Poultney and the Art Club in Fair Haven.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Stuart Keyes of Poultney; four daughters, Cynthia Keyes, Susan Partch, Jeanne Hornak and Florence Keyes; a sister, Dorothy Capotosta; a brother, Erick Ericksen; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon at the Welsh Presbyterian Church in Poultney with the Rev. Donald Pepper, pastor, officiating. The time of the service will be announce at a later date. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in West Haven cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Poultney Rescue Squad, the Pettis Scholarship Fund or the Garden Club of Poultney.

Harold Marshall
EAST POULTNEY — Harold Marshall, 68, died July 22, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.
Angelo Consolatti Rites
The funeral service for Angelo Consolatti, 77, of Rutland, who died July 19, 2002, was held Monday at the Aldous Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Bishop, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Rutland, officiating. Cremation followed the service. The graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Tenny cemetery in Mendon.
American Legion Post 31 provided military honors. James Burke and Dick White made the flag presentation.

Anne M. Slattery Rites, Donald J. Hagen Rites
The graveside service for Anne M. Slattery, 89, of Rutland, who died July 16, 2002, and her son, Donald J. Hagen Sr., 71, a former resident of Rutland and Middlebury, who died April 17, 2002, was held Monday in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Rutland with the Rev. Reid C. Mayo, pastor of Christ the King Church, officiating.

Coleen F. Gragen Rites
The memorial Mass for Coleen F. Gragen, 50, who died April 30, 2002, was held Saturday at Christ the King Church with the Rev. Reid C. Mayo, pastor, officiating.
Organist was Sister Pauline Gratton and vocalist was Sister Francis Patrick Dunn.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Mabel A. Love Rites
FAIR HAVEN — The funeral service for Mabel Annette Love, 92, who died July 19, 2002, was held Monday at the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven with the Rev. Ashley Meade, pastor of Dresden Baptist Church in Clemons, N.Y., officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Grove cemetery in Fair Haven.
Soloist was Noni Andrews, a niece.
Bearers were Robert Love, Jay Sheldrick Sr., Jay Sheldrick Jr. and Jason Sheldrick.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Horace A. Mann
RANDOLPH CENTER — Horace A. “Mike” Mann, 79, died July 21, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of William Jr. and Pauline (Bougher) Mann.
He graduated from Hanover (N.H.) High School in 1941 and attended Drexel University and the University of Georgia.
He married
Janet Miller on April 9, 1943, in Columbia, S.C. She died in 1997. He married
Jacqueline (Heinke) Monell on Nov. 11, 2000, in South Royalton.
Mr. Mann worked as an instrument and control panel operator for the Public Service Gas & Electric Co. in Burlington, N.J., until his retirement in 1980.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in South Royalton and the Phoenix-Mystic Star Lodge 97, F&AM, in Brookfield.
Mr. Mann was a woodworker, and enjoyed making furniture and toys. He restored spinning wheels and collected antique tools.
Survivors include his wife of Randolph Center; a daughter, Sarah Leahey of Suffield, Conn.; a brother, William Mann III of Dover, Del.; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Randall, who died earlier this month.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints South Royalton Chapel. A private burial will follow in Chelten Hills cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home.

Mabel H. Ballou
WILDER — Mabel H. Ballou, 59, died July 22, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Hanover, N.H., the daughter of George and Doris (Hunt) Spaulding.
She graduated from Hartford High School in 1961.
She married
John Ballou on June 24, 1961, in Norwich.
Mrs. Ballou was employed as a bookkeeper at Bomhower Oil in Wilder, Johnson & Dix, and later at Agway Petroleum in Norwich for 21 years.
She enjoyed crafts and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of Wilder; three daughters, Konni Stagliano of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, Karen Sanborn of Standish, Maine, and Kendra Hornbrook of Exton, Pa.; a son, Keith Ballou of Hartford; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mae Clay of White River Junction; two brothers, Leonard Spaulding of Wilder and Fred Spaulding of Norwich; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, John Spaulding and George Spaulding.
The graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Christian Street cemetery in Wilder.
There will be no calling hours.

Christine M. Gilbert
CAVENDISH — Christine M. Gilbert, 85, died July 20, 2002, at Mariner Health Care in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born May 30, 1917, in Cavendish, the daughter of Adwin and Eunice (Tarbell) Goodell.
Survivors include a brother, Ralph Goodell of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was predeceased by a sister, Leona St. Clair in 1991.
A private burial will be held in Cavendish Village cemetery.
