William J. Lynch
SPRINGFIELD — William J. Lynch, 83, died July 16, 2002, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 30, 1919, in Bellows Falls, the son of John and Louise (Croto) Lynch.
He attended schools in Bellows Falls.
He married
Evelyn Tarajkowski on May 10, 1941, in Springfield.
Mr. Lynch was employed as a welder for the Parks & Woolson Machine Co. for many years.
He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife of Springfield; three sons, William Lynch Jr. of Hardwick, Gary Lynch and Scott Lynch, both of Springfield; a daughter, Terry Perry of Perkinsville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Lynch of Bellows Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Jennie Knight; three grandsons; and five brothers, Walter Lynch, Philip Lynch, Paul Lynch, Charlie Lynch and Leon Lynch.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Romano, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Vera C. Corliss
NORTH SPRINGFIELD — Vera C. Corliss, 75, died July 16, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born April 11, 1927, in Wolcott, the daughter of Elmer and Catherine (Alexander) Fleming.
She attended schools in Hardwick.
She married
LeRoy Corliss on Dec. 25, 1944, in Morristown.
Mrs. Corliss was a foster mother and helped raise 36 children.
She enjoyed her flower gardens.
Survivors include six sons, Wayne Corliss, Ronald Corliss and Brian Corliss, all of Perkinsville, Craig Corliss of Springfield, and Gene Corliss and Chris Corliss, both of North Springfield; three daughters, Linda Heath of Springfield, Sandra Robison of Perkinsville and Wendy Corliss of Claremont, N.H.; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie Fleming of North Springfield and Albert Fleming of Hardwick; four sisters, Evelyn Cleveland and Gladys Laplante, both of Springfield, Pauline Andrews of East Hardwick and Cathy Bell of North Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1983; and a sister, Jeannie Jewell.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Davis Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Thomas W. Hiltsley, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove cemetery in North Springfield.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Davis Chapel.

Charlotte B. Eddy
BENNINGTON — Charlotte B. Eddy, 94, a former resident of Woodford, died July 16, 2002, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 11, 1908, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of William and Rose (Ebberheart) Benz.
She received her education in Buffalo, N.Y.
She was employed as a secretary at Bennington College for many years, retiring in 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Greene of Torrington, Conn.; two granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
She was predeceased by a brother, William Benz.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodford cemetery in Woodford.
Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

James E. Kelly Jr.
SWANTON — James Edward Kelly Jr., 84, died July 15, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
He was born April 20, 1918, in Saxtons Rivers, the son of James Edward Sr. and Alice (Scofield) Kelly.
He graduated from Chester High School.
He married
Helen Machia on March 17, 1944.
Mr. Kelly worked as a machinist with Fonda Container of St. Albans for 37 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans.
Survivors include his wife of Swanton; a son, James Kelly III of Fort Smith, Ark.; three daughters, Linda Cota of Savannah, Ga., Carol Soule of Hartford, Ark., and Pat Dahlen of Granby, Conn.; two sisters, Ruth Balch of Chester and Rosemary Croteau of Newbury, N.H.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will begin Friday at 9:15 a.m. with a short prayer service at the Kidder Memorial Home in Swanton, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton with the Rev. John J. Meagher, SSE, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis cemetery in Highgate Center.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kidder Memorial Home.

BENNINGTON — The memorial service for Ruth M. Friedrich, who died April 28, 2002, will be held Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in the main recreation room with the Rev. John Goyette and the Rev. John Adams officiating.
A reception for friends and family will take place in the Rockwell Lounge at Centers for Living following the service.

Barbara Hoag Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Barbara Hoag, who died July 10, 2002, was celebrated Saturday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, CSC, associate pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.
Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray.
Bearers were Michael McKenna, Sean McKenna, J.D. Maloney, Christopher Maloney, Bethany Guetti and Rebecca Derosia.
A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.
The wake service was offered Friday evening at the funeral home by the Rev. Coppola.
A reception was held at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales parish hall following the funeral service.

Russell W. Rheaume
MIDDLEBURY — Russell W. Rheaume, 29, died July14, 2002, at his home.
The memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Sanderson Funeral Home in Middlebury.

Stephen I. Murray
BARRE — Stephen Irving Murray, 82, died July 15, 2002, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
He was born July 15, 1920, in Bristol, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Gilley) Murray.
He attended Rutland High School.
He married
Bernice Bailey Chamberlin on June 9, 1979, in Northfield.
Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the First Army, Seventh Field Artillery in the European Theater of Operations and in Korea, retiring in 1962 after 22 years of military service.
He was a member of St. Monica’s Church in Barre, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, both of Montpelier, and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of Barre; two daughters, Daphne Meagher of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Peggy Shadel of S. Jordan, Utah; a sister, Catherine Welch of Kalama, Wash.; a brother, David Murray of North Clarendon; a stepson, Robert Chamberlin of Brattleboro; three stepdaughters, Elaine Haggett of Barre, Doris Daigle of Lisbon, Maine and Alberta Mundell of Potsdam, N.Y.; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Murray; a sister, Josephine Linardy; and a stepson, Albert Chamberlin.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery in Northfield.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield.

Carroll W. Daniels
CASTLETON, N.Y. — The graveside service for Carroll W. “Dan” Daniels, 87, who died Jan. 10, 2002, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Highland cemetery in Woodstock, Vt.
Mr. Daniels was born in Hanover, N.H., and raised in Woodstock, Vt., before moving to New York State.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma (Corey) Daniels; two daughters, Elizabeth Bean of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Sandra Byers of Rock Springs, Wis.; two sons, Corey Daniels of Wells, Maine, and Richard Daniels of Greenbush, N.Y.; a sister, Martha Willard of Silver Springs, Md.; a brother, Herbert Daniels of Watertown, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Madeleine Krawczyk Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Madeleine Krawczyk was celebrated Tuesday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, CSC, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery.
Organist was Don McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray.
Bearers were Joseph Krawczyk Jr., George Krawczyk, David Krawczyk, Alan Krawczyk, Charles Krawczyk, John Kohutich, Randy Maxon and Paul Shine.
A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.
The wake service was offered Monday evening at the funeral home by the Rev. Lozinski. Members of American Legion Post 13 Auxiliary in Bennington also conducted their service Monday evening.
A remembrance gathering was held at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales parish hall following the committal service.
