EAST BETHEL — Celia Nellie “Sid” Davis, 78, who died Jan. 12, 2002, will be held Tuesday in Cherry Hill cemetery in Bethel with the Rev. Millie Reynolds officiating.

Suzanne O. Rogstad Rites
WEATHERSFIELD — The private graveside service for Suzanne O. Rogstad, 53, who died Feb. 3, 2002, was held Thursday in Plains cemetery in Perkinsville.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
Madeline N. Cluff Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The graveside service for Madeline N. Cluff, 81, who died Feb. 12, 2002, was held Friday in Oakland cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. William Scherwerts, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Margaret E. McGuire Rites
NORTH BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Margaret E. McGuire, who died May 25, 2002, was celebrated Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington by the Rev. Michael A. Demasi, retired pastor. Burial followed in St. John’s cemetery.
Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Monica Murray.
Bearers were Timothy Douglass, Mark Douglass, David Bates, Kevin Murphy, Allen Clickner and Kenneth Harris. Honorary bearers were members of the Sodality at St. John the Baptist Church and Court St. Andrew, Catholic Daughters of America.
A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.
The wake service was offered Wednesday evening at the funeral home by the Rev. Demasi.
A reception followed the committal service at St. John’s Parish Center.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Leo Wilcox
WILLOW OAK, Fla. — Leo Wilcox, 80, a former resident of Shoreham, Vt., died May 29, 2002, at Highlands Lake Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Cornwall, Vt.
Mr. Wilcox was a dairy farmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Davis of Mulberry; a son, Leighton Wilcox of Orwell, Vt.; three sisters, Patricia Wilcox of Shoreham, Vt., Eva Betourney of Brandon, Vt., and Ada Moulton of Bridport, Vt.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at Mulberry United Methodist Church.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Mulberry Community Service Center, 301 N.E. 5th St., Mulberry, 33860.

Ralph F. Charland Sr.
GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Ralph F. “Julio” Charland Sr., 54, died May 31, 2002, at Glens Falls Hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1947, in Malone, the son of Leo and Barbara (Seymour) Charland.
He was employed at Hilltop Slate Co.
Mr. Charland enjoyed fishing, hunting and using his CB.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Catherine (Gregory) Charland of Granville; a son, Ralph Charland Jr. of Granville; two daughters, Barbara Battease of Whitehall and Catherine Charland of Granville; a sister, Rose Burch of Belcher; his stepmother, Joan Sumner Charland of Plattsburg; a stepsister, Diane Martin of Altona; two half sisters, Heather Chapman of Churubusco and Darlene Charland of Altona; three stepbrothers, Charles Sumpter of Kunkletown, Pa., Raymond Charland of Whitehall and Duane Charland of Fort Edward.
He was predeceased by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery in Granville.
Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Unit of Glens Falls Hospital, 3 West.

Coleen F. Gragen
BOMOSEEN — Coleen F. Gragen, 50, died April 30, 2002, in Oakland, Calif.
She was born Oct. 15, 1951, in White Plains, N.Y., the daughter of Raymond and Helen Gragen.
She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in White Plains in 1969 and the State University of New York in Albany in 1973, magna cum laude.
Ms. Gragen trained in the martial arts for more than 30 years and held an 8th degree black belt in Kajukenbo. She was the only woman ever to achieve this rank.
She had owned and operated Hand to Hand Martial Arts Training Center in Oakland since 1980. She was also a teaching professor of martial arts at Mills College in Berkeley, Calif.
Ms. Gragen was a member of the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation and the Pacific Association of Martial Arts.
Survivors include a sister, Susan Fingerhut of Bomoseen; two nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated July 20 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Rutland.

Beverly J. Crabtree
SOMERSWORTH, N.H. — Beverly J. Crabtree, 68, a former resident of Berlin, died June 13, 2002, at Dover Rehab and Living Center.
She was born June 3, 1934, in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of Frank and Bessie (McLellan) Briggs.
She graduated from Rutland High School in 1952 and attended Becker College in Worcester, Mass.
Mrs. Crabtree was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church of Dover and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer at Androscoggin Hospital in Berlin, and was a den mother with the Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Crabtree of Somersworth; a son, David Crabtree of Argyle Township, Maine; two daughters, Linda Smith of Rochester and Julie Burrell of Braintree, Mass.; a brother, Arthur Briggs of Cavendish, Vt.; and four grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the First Parish Congregational Church with the Rev. David Slater, pastor, officiating.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home in Dover.

Edward C. “Ed” Autenrieth
RALEIGH, N.C. — Edward C. “Ed” Autenrieth, 73, of 12024 Radner Way went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2002. Ed, the son of the late Anna and Charles Autenrieth, grew up on Long Island, N.Y. He completed two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy; graduated from Nassau Community College and served 20 years on the Nassau County Police Department.
In 1973 he and his family moved to Pittsford, Vt., where he had an electrical contracting business and in later years worked as a Realtor. Ed was Pittsford Town Lister for 22 years, past president of the Pittsford Lions Club and was very active in starting a new mission church, Messiah Lutheran (LCHS) Church in Rutland, Vt.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning June 15, 2002, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Wake Forest with the Pastor Preston Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gerry W. Autenrieth; beloved children, Sue and Andy Powers of Raleigh, John Autenrieth of Mahwah, N.J., Michael and Christine Autenrieth of Minneapolis, Minn., and Chris and Patricia Autenrieth of Hooksett, N.H.; a sister, Doris Stich of Hicksville, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Jennie, Allison, Ashleigh, Jason, Lauren, Jill, Spencer, Alec, Alana, Alex and Hannah.

The graveside service with military honors for Frank L. “Leelu” Garafano, 77, of Rutland, who died Jan. 18, 2002, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Calvary cemetery with the Rev. Andre Houle, pastor of St. Peter’s Church in Rutland, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
G. Keen Chaffee Rites
The memorial service for George Keen Chaffee, 87, of Rutland, who died June 6, 2002, was held Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Christopher Powell, rector, officiating. A service followed in Trinity Church Gardens. Burial followed in Evergreen cemetery.
Organist was Betty Clark.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Mary B. Welch Rites
BRANDON — The private memorial Mass for Mary Bissette Welch, 98, who died May 22, 2002, was celebrated Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon with the Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor, officiating. A private graveside service followed in St. Mary’s cemetery.
The family received friends at the home of Henry Bissette in Brandon for a time of fellowship and reflection following the service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
William M. Gault
THETFORD CENTER — William Morgan Gault, 63, died June 7, 2002, at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; and a sister, Elizabeth Gault.
A private service is planned.

Arnold H. Johanson
MANCHESTER CENTER — Arnold H. Johanson, 80, died June 12, 2002, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
He was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Schuylerville, N.Y., the son of Henry and Gertrude (Holmquest) Johanson.
He graduated from Schuylerville High School in 1939, and later studied at the Reich American School of Auctioning and became an auctioneer.
He later moved to Manchester and continued his auctioneering. He became known as “Arnie the Auctioneer,” and was inducted into the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame in 1999.
Mr. Johanson was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War as a first lieutenant.
He was a member of the Harnad Fowler, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Manchester, American Legion Post of Manchester, and was past president of the Eagles Lodge in Manchester.
He enjoyed tinkering, and was an avid bowler and golfer.
Survivors include four sons, David Fielding of Manchester Center, William Johanson and David Johanson, both of Schuylerville, and Allen Johanson of Enterprise, Ala.; four daughters, Lynda Carkin of Manchester Center, Carol Whitman of Dorset, Colleen Pattee of Pepperell, Mass., and Susan Wells of Schuylerville; two sisters, Violet Nadeau and Lillian Bodnar, both of Schuylerville; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, in 1994.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Manchester with the Rev. Stephen Berry, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Dellwood cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester Center. Members of the Eagles Lodge are asked to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 7 p.m. to conduct their memorial service, and American Legion Post members are invited to pay their respects at 7:30 p.m.
