Alice W. Blish
SPRINGFIELD — Alice W. Blish, 81, died April 27, 2002, at the Springfield Hospital.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Chapel.
William J. Campbell
BRANDON — William John Campbell, 64, died April 25, 2002, at Mountain View Genesis Eldercare in Rutland.
Mr. Campbell was born July 24, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of William Joseph and Cecelia (Hoffman) Campbell. He was educated in Brooklyn schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1977, when he retired as sergeant first class and unit administrator for the 368th Engineering Combat Battalion (Reserves) in Rutland.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge #25 F&AM. He belonged to Farmers Chapter Royal Arch Masons and Farmers Council Royal and Select Masters.
Surviving is his wife, Karen L. Campbell of Brandon, whom he married
May 23, 1959, in Brooklyn; three sons, Michael D. Campbell of San Diego, John D. Campbell of Portland, Texas, and William W. Campbell of Milton; a daughter, Susan G. Danforth of Brandon; a brother, Wayne G. Warren of Brandon; five grandchildren; two nieces; a nephew; and several cousins.
The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s cemetery in Brandon. Members of St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge will conduct the service.
There are no public calling hours.

RUTLAND — Ruth Margaret Carroll, 85, died April 26, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

SPRINGFIELD — Lawrence Franklin “Jake” Howe, 79, of Chester died April 27, 2002, at Springfield Hospital after a long illness.

BRANDON — The funeral service for Andrew Harrison Larabee, 68, who died April 23, 2002, was held Saturday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. The Rev. Gordon Bardos, rector, officiated. Minister of the altar was Eleanor Young.
A private burial will take place at a later date.

RUTLAND — Kathleen Mulligan, 83, died April 27, 2002, at her home.
Henry Murillo rites
RUTLAND — A private memorial service for Henry A. Murillo, 83, who died April 22, 2002, was held Saturday at Clifford Funeral Home. The Rev. W. Andre Houle, pastor of St. Peter Church, officiated.
Military services were provided by members of the Rutland American Legion Post 31. James Burke presented the flag to the family.
Robert P. Pinney Sr.
RUTLAND — Robert P. Pinney Sr., 79, of Rutland Town died April 27, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Rutland, son of Chester and Nettie (Gillam) Pinney Sr.
Mr. Pinney was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during World War II.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, American Legion Post #31 of Rutland, VFW #648 and the Rutland Cairo Temple, where he served on the director’s staff.
He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Rutland Lodge #79 F&AM.
Mr. Pinney was an electrical contractor for 58 years. He owned and operated Pinney Electric Co. from 1968 to 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Taylor) Pinney of Rutland Town; a son, Robert P. Pinney Jr.; three daughters, Cheryl Muscatello of Mendon, Linda Chicoine of Milton and Michele Weeks of Wallingford; a brother, Floyd Pinney; a sister, Bernice Norton of Naples, Fla; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a stepsister, Charlotte Kendall; two stepbrothers, Frank Squires and Elwin Squires; and a brother, Chester Pinney Jr.

Mary Shappy
RUTLAND — Mary Ann Shappy, 75, died April 26, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Rutland, daughter of Andrea and Angelina Marotti.
She attended local schools and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1944. She was a member of St. Peter Church.
Mrs. Shappy was a dental assistant before her marriage to Clayton E. Shappy in 1966.
Survivors include a daughter, Julianna Shappy of Harker Heights, Texas; a son, David Andrew Shappy of Rutland; a sister, Catherine Ketcham of Lake Dunmore; two adopted sisters, Theresa Celantano and Charlene Eaton of Rutland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1991; sisters Carmel Marotti and Angie Fusco; and a brother, Arkangelino Marotti.
Friends may call Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in Calvary cemetery.

RUTLAND — The funeral service for Daisy L. Soulia, 66, who died April 24, 2002, was held Saturday at the Aldous Funeral Home. The Rev. James McShane, pastor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, officiated.
A graveside service followed at Calvary cemetery with the Rev. Richard Tinney, pastor of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Fair Haven, officiating.
Bearers were Moses Coltey, Louis Coltey, Richard Coltey and Gary Coltey.
Hazel Woodbury rites
CASTLETON — The graveside committal service and burial for Hazel Martha Woodbury, 90, who died March 17, 2002, will be Tuesday at Hillside cemetery in Castleton.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Philibert J. Elkey
Philibert J. Elkey, 74, of Rutland, died July 12, 2001, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born March 26, 1927, in Rutland, son of George and Anna (Pelkey) Elkey.
He graduated from Rutland High School in 1944.
Mr. Elkey had been employed in the family’s taxi business prior to working for Fassetts Bakery. He then went to work for the State of Vermont Department of Correc-tions, retiring in 1992. After retirement Mr. Elkey founded and operated Phil’s Taxi until he was forced to retire due to failing health.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European Theater. After his discharge, he returned to Rutland and remained active in the U.S. Army Reserves until receiving an honorable discharge in 1962.
Mr. Elkey was a member of the American Legion Post 31, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 648 and a longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 1122 of Rutland.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Durkee Champine Elkey, whom he married
Oct. 29, 1977; two daugh-ters, Linda Emann of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Deborah Merciez of Holiday, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Susan Blair of West Rutland; two stepsons, Russell Champine of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Champine of Rutland Town; two sisters, Sylvia Moulton of Rutland Town and Sharon Coburn of North Clarendon; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Larrabee; a brother, Robert Elkey; and a sister, Joyce Farnsworth.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Diane J. Conelly
PHOENIX, Ariz. — Diane J. Conelly, 54, died July 8, 2001, in Phoenix after a sudden illness.
She was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Rutland, daughter of Harold J. and Carolyn L. (Lauro) Taylor.
She graduated from West Rutland High School and joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1964.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Conelly of Phoenix; her sisters, Linda Johnson of Center Rutland, Pamela A. Taylor and Karen L. Taylor, both of North Ferrisburgh; and an aunt, cousin and niece.
She was predeceased by her parents.
A private ceremony will be held in Phoenix at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
Marvin C. Douglas rites
The funeral service for Marvin Clyde Douglas, 70, of Rutland, who died July 4, 2001, was held Sunday at Ricker Funeral Home in Woodsville, N.H., with the Rev. Patricia Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Oxbow cemetery in Newbury.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diagnostic Imaging at RRMC, in care of Communications Director, 160 Allen St., Rutland, 05701.

David W. Bushee rites
MOUNT TABOR — The memorial service for David Wilson Bushee, 55, who died July 9, 2001, was held Friday at First Baptist Church in Manchester with the Rev. Betty Wright-Riggins officiating.
Bushee, a lifelong resident of Mount Tabor and Manchester, was cremated at Vermont Cremation Service in Bennington and his cremated remains will be committed to earth in Danby cemetery.
Organist was Jeff Linebeck.
Words of prayer and reflection were shared by the Rev. Wright-Riggins.
Family and friends gathered in the church hall for fellowship and refreshment after the service.
