Evelyn M. Farrell
Evelyn Maria (Johnson) Farrell, 90, of Middletown Springs passed away Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Rutland on October 2, 1911, daughter of the late Emanuel and Freda (Johnson) Johnson.
She attended Rutland Public Schools and graduated from Rut-land High School in 1929. Evelyn graduated from the Rutland Hospital School of Nursing in 1937. She went on to become a Night Supervisor for 5 years, after which she did private duty nursing.
Evelyn married
James “Ed” Farrell on January 4, 1948. They lived in Middletown Springs and were engaged in diversified farming. Ed died in June of 1984. She is also predeceased by two sisters, Anna McKenzie and Sylvia Higgins, and one brother, Arnold Johnson.
Evelyn volunteered in school health clinics, Red Cross blood drawings and most recently as a partner in reading at the local school.
She was a former member of the Ladies Art Club and the Roundabout Club. She attended St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Middletown Springs.
Evelyn is survived by one son, Tom Farrell of Middletown Springs; one daughter, Mary Snow and her husband John of Tinmouth; three grandchildren, Leann Snow of Middletown Springs, Michael Snow of Tin-mouth and Marianne Snow and her fiancé’, Stephane Goulet of South Wallingford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Avenue, Poultney.
Funeral Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam J. Krempa, Pastor of St. Raphael The Archangel of Poult-ney, will officiate.
Spring Interment will take place in the Pleasant View cemetery of Middletown Springs at the convenience of the family.

Leah P. Lavallee
MIDDLETOWN SPRINGS — Leah Phoebe Lavallee, 79, died March 21, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 20, 1922, in Vergennes, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Goyette) Lavallee.
She graduated from Rutland High School in 1940.
She was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Farmers Home Administration prior to her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Mid-dletown Springs.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and caring for children.
Survivors include a sister, Jeannette Marcy of Middletown Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Albert Lavallee, Wilfred Lavallee and Harold Lavallee; and two sisters, Alice Parker and Ruth Lavallee.
The memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Mid-dletown Springs with the Rev. Adam J. Krempa, pastor of St. Raphael the Archangel Church in Poultney, as celebrant.
Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant View cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.

Dorothy R. Watson
LONDONDERRY — Dorothy R. Watson died March 22, 2002, at her home.
Arrangements are pending at the Adams & Kenney Funeral Homes in Chester.
Mildred V. Blodgett
WINDSOR — Mildred V. Blod-gett, 78, died March 20, 2002, at Mount Ascutney Hospital.
She was born May 10, 1923, in Rutland, the daughter of John and Dolly (Dowd) Rivers.
She married
George Blodgett on Jan. 26, 1974.
She was a member of the Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary in Windsor.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Gloria Belden; six sons, Ernest Stone of Canaan, N.H., Robert Stone of Arizona, Larry Stone of Indiana, Paul Taylor of North Dakota, Donald Stone and Daniel Stone of Rutland; and two sisters, Elizabeth Rowe of Rutland and Frances Stone of Brandon.
She was predeceased by five sisters and one brother.
There will be no services or calling hours.

Lynwood R. Clark
LINCOLN — Lynwood (Dill) R. Clark, 72, died March 22, 2002, at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.
He was born Feb. 28, 1930, in West Lincoln, the son of Ray and Isabel (Booska) Clark.
He married
Alice Pecott on Dec. 4, 1954.
Mr. Clark was employed at Jack Man Inc. in Bristol for many years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of American Legion Post 19 in Bristol.
Survivors include his wife of Lincoln; a daughter, Marlene Benway of Bristol; three sons, Lyn-wood Clark Jr., Lawrence Clark and Frederick Clark, all of Lincoln; three grandsons; three sisters, Char-lotte DeLisle of Bristol, Betty Hall and Barbara Darling, both of Lin-coln; three brother, Richard Clark of Nevada, Ellsworth Clark of Con-necticut and Lyle Clark of Starks-boro; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a bro-ther, Wilbert Clark Sr.; and a sister, Geraldine Russell.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Burial will be in Maple cemetery in Lincoln.
Friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Melba G. Lipnicki
TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — Melba G. Lipnicki, 82, died March 17, 2002, at Helen Ellis Hospital.
She was born in Irasburg, Vt.
She had been employed at Springfield Convalescent Center in Vermont as a dietician before moving to Florida.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Marks of Tarpon Springs; a sister, Joan Shattuck of Spring-field, Vt.; two brothers, Dana Far-man of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., and Mahlon Farman of Queens-bury, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Laurance E. Cushing
BENSON — Laurance Edwin Cushing, 89, died March 22, 2002, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Leo W. Kulig
WEST RUTLAND — Leo W. Kulig, 83, of West Rutland died March 24, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
The Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland is in charge of arrangements.
Helen B. Davis Rites
HUBBARDTON — The memorial service for Helen Boyce “Peg” Davis, 92, who died March 12, 2002, was held Saturday at the East Hubbardton Baptist Church. Pastor Michael Shortsleeves officiated.
Organist was Marjorie Anderson.
Following the service, the family received friends at the Trak-In Restaurant on Lake Bomoseen.
The Mallory Funeral Home of Fair Haven was in charge of arrangements.
Earle J. Bishop Rites
The memorial service for Earle J. Bishop, 80, of Chittenden, who died March 15, 2002, was held Saturday in Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Christopher A. Powell, rector, officiated.
Members of the Rutland County Bar Association attended in a group.
Burial was in Trinity Memorial Garden, with the Rev. Powell offering the committal prayers.
The Tossing Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Patricia A. Garmel
WINDSOR — Patricia Anne Garmel, 67, died March 20, 2002, at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor following a brief battle with lung cancer.
She was born May 12, 1934, the daughter of Dr. Lawrence J. and Ethel (Knapp)Tomasi in Montreal, Canada.
She grew up in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1952. She attended Simmons College in Boston and graduated cum laude from the University of New Hampshire in 1957. She received an advanced degree in theater and arts from the University of California.
She was a licensed real estate broker in California. While residing in California, she worked in theater, real estate and at Cedar Sinai Hospital. She was involved in many community activities in the Los Angeles area.
She lived in California for 30 years before moving back to Windsor after the death of her husband, Sam Garmel, in 1988.
She is survived by a brother, Lawrence J. “Tom” Tomasi Jr. of West Windsor, two nephews, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated April 6 at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor with the Rev. Paul N. Belhumeur officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Francis cemetery in Windsor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division Inc., 13 Loomis St., Montpelier, 05602.

Dorothy R. Watson
LONDONDERRY — Dorothy R. Watson died at her home March 22, 2002.
She was born in Jeffersonville, Ind., the daughter of Joseph and Lugenia (Dooley) Roberts. She was educated in New York City. She attended Cooper Union College, studied art and design and later worked as an airbrush artist. She was an accomplished painter.
She was certified by the Vermont State Colleges system to teach art, and taught for many years while living in Londonderry.
She married
William Watson on Nov. 8, 1947, in New York City.
She was active with the Second Congregational Church; she sang in its choir and taught Sunday school. She also was involved with The Thrifty Attic.
There are no survivors. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn and Helene.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church, Route 11, Londonderry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Second Congregational Church, P.O. Box 77, Londonderry 05148.
