Everett E. Hurlburt
WILLIAMSTOWN — Everett Earl Hurlburt, 66, died Feb. 14, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Waterbury, the son of Francis and Alice (Prentice) Hurlburt.
He attended Stowe, East Granville and Northfield schools.
He married
Elizabeth Bowen in 1959 in Randolph.
Mr. Hurlburt worked as a logger for several years and for the State of Vermont Highway Department in Randolph, where he was a road foreman for many years. He later worked for the town of Williams-town as a road foreman, retiring in 1998 after 19 years of service.
He served with the U.S. Army in Germany.
He enjoyed hunting, boating, music and snowmobiling.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Hurlburt of Randolph; two daughters, Joanne Gilman of Randolph Center and Jacqueline Hurlburt of Hancock; his wife of Stock-bridge; two brothers, James Hurl-burt of South Royalton and Charles Hurlburt of Northfield; two sisters, Geraldine Dickinson of East Granville and Ethel Thresher of Randolph; his companion of 19 years, Geraldine Mowatt of Williamstown and her children; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Howard Hurlburt.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home with the Rev. Gwen-dolyn Hallsmith, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant View cemetery in Randolph.
There will be no calling hours.

Robert P. Harrington Rites
SPRINGFIELD — The memorial service for Robert P. Harring-ton, 79, who died Feb. 9, 2002, was held Friday at United Methodist Church in Springfield with the Rev. William Scherwerts, pastor, officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s cemetery in Springfield.
Organist was Carol Wing.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
Joseph A. Fredette
Joseph A. Fredette, 75, of Rutland died March 18, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 21, 1926, in Rutland, the son of Frederick and Pearl (Lancour) Fredette.
He graduated from Rutland High School.
He married
Barbara Roussil on May 3, 1952.
Mr. Fredette was employed at Rutland News and General Electric Co. until his retirement.
He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, and re-enlisted for an additional six years.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Fredette enjoyed drawing and flower gardening.
Survivors include his wife of Rutland; a daughter, Michele Fredette of Rutland; a brother, Paul Fredette of North Clarendon; a sister, Ernestine Fredette of Marlboro, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Gravelle and Marjorie Healey.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Rutland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Rutland.
Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Mafalda Lemmo
Mafalda “Muffy” Lemmo, 82, of Rutland died March 19, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Kathleen K. Webber
Kathleen K. Webber, 58, of Rutland Town, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a short illness. She was born Feb. 22, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Peter and Catherine (Brady) Kurdeka.
Mrs. Webber graduated from Rutland High School and the University of Vermont, Class of 1965.
She was employed as a laboratory technician at the Rutland Regional Medical Center for over 20 years, which included being head of the Chemistry Department.
Survivors include her husband, Atty. John B. Webber of Rutland Town; a daughter, Meighan C. Rice, grandson, Cooper Henry Rice, and son-in-law, Andrew Rice, all of Marshfield, Mass.; her father of Sun City Center, Fla.; and a brother, Lawrence Kurdeka of Fairlee, Vt.
She was predeceased by her mother, Catherine Kurdeka.
There will be a private funeral service at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at a later date.

Geraldine E. Tarbell
BELMONT — Geraldine Eva Tarbell, 72, a longtime resident of Belmont and winter resident of St. Petersburg, Fla., died March 19, 2002, at St. Petersburg General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Claremont, N.H., the daughter of Gerald and Laura (Wyatt) Marcotte.
She was a self-employed seamstress in the local area for many years.
Mrs. Tarbell was a member of St. Mary’s Mission Church in Mount Holly for 42 years, St. Mary’s Ladies Society and Belmont Community Guild.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Tarbell of Belmont and St. Petersburg; two sons, Lawrence Manley of Guilford, Conn., and Douglas Manley of Malden, Mass.; two brothers, Gerald Marcotte of Wilbraham, Mass., and Roger Marcotte of Ringwood, N.J.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Mission Church in Mount Holly. Burial will be at a later date in Mechanicsville cemetery in Belmont.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home.

Roberta D. Wilson
WOODSTOCK — Roberta D. Wilson, 77, died March 16, 2002, at her home as a result of cancer.
She was born July 19, 1924, in Quincy, Mass., the daughter of Percy and Sadie (Clark) Whynott.
She graduated from high school in Gloucester, Mass., and from a laboratory training school in Fitchburg, Mass.
She married
John Wilson on Dec. 10, 1948.
Mrs. Wilson worked for Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg, Mass.
She enjoyed horses and helping out at the local Glad Rags Sale in Woodstock. She was an avid skier, gardener and tennis player. She also won several golf tournaments.
Survivors include her husband of Woodstock; four daughters, Susan Wilson of Lebanon, N.H., Gretchen Wilson of Woodstock, Kristen Maxham and Sarah Gilbreath, both of Pomfret; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Douglas Whynott of Boston, Mass., and Donald Whynott of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Flossy Baker, Laura Hutchins and Mickey Whynott; and two brothers, Raymond and David Whynott.
The graveside service will be held Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m., in Burns cemetery in Pomfret with the Rev. Beverly Boke officiating.

B. Maxine Glenn
BENNINGTON — B. Maxine Glenn, 83, a former resident of Rotterdam Junction, N.Y., died March 19, 2002, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
Elizabeth H. Wheeler
BRATTLEBORO — Elizabeth Helen Parsons Wheeler, 96, died March 18, 2002, at Vernon Green Nursing Home.
She was born June 14, 1905, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of John and Blanche (Widdecombe) Parsons.
She graduated from Oberlin College and earned a master’s degree from Wellesley College.
She married
Dr. Philip Wheeler on June 30, 1933.
Mrs. Wheeler worked as an assistant professor of zoology at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and later taught at Marlboro College in Marlboro, Windham College in Putney and Mark Hopkins College in Brattleboro.
She created a program of learning through the study of postage stamps which she presented to the schools in Brattleboro and Dummerston. She was honored by the American Association University Women. She was also recognized by the Brattleboro Reformer in 1988 as an Unsung Hero, the Vermont School Boards Association in 1983 and the U.S. Postal Service in 1986.
She was a board member of the Elizabeth Lund Home and Vermont Historical Society, a member of the Brattleboro Housing Authority, and president of the Board of Trustees of Brooks Memorial Library. She also was a member of the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, a president of the American Association of University Women, and a leader of Brownie Scouts and the day camp.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of All Souls Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and the Brattleboro Garden Club. She was instrumental in bringing the Community Concert Series to Brattleboro.
Survivors include two sons, Philip Wheeler Jr. of Sharon and Dr. John Wheeler of Pittsford; a daughter, Mary Mann of Brattleboro; a sister, Eleanor Priebe of Florida; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1993; and a brother, John Parsons Jr.
The service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ker Westerlund & Fleming Funeral Home in Brattleboro. Burial will follow in Meetinghouse Hill cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

SPRINGFIELD — The funeral service for Carol D. Scullin, 61, who died March 16, 2002, was held Tuesday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield with the Rev. William Nelson, pastor of First Congregational Church in Springfield, officiating. Burial followed in Oakland cemetery in Springfield.
Bearers were Mike Hella, Don Scullin, Andrew Scullin and Sean Stewart.
