J. Clyde Lavallee
J. Clyde Lavallee, 92, of Rutland died Feb. 28, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 9, 1909, in Rutland, the son of Romeo and Agnes (Cameron) Lavallee.
He graduated from Rutland High School and the National Lender’s Institute in New York City.
Mr. Lavallee was employed as the district manager of Beneficial Finance Co. in Vermont and Massachusetts for 35 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and an usher for many years. He was also a member of Rutland Lodge of Elks 345.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Ryan) Lavallee; a son, Clyde Lavallee of Middlebury; and two grandsons.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery with burial at a later date.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Florence H. Minard
NORTH CLARENDON — Florence Harriet Minard, 80, died Feb. 28, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Rutland, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Coon) Fenstermaker.
She married
David Minard Sr. in 1947 in Clarendon. He died in 1995.
Mrs. Minard worked for a parachute company in Connecticut during World War II.
She was a member of the Old Brick Church in Clarendon.
She enjoyed growing flowers.
Survivors include four sons, Edward Minard of West Rutland, Robert Minard of Columbus, Ga., David Minard and Ralph Minard, both of Clarendon; two sisters, Cora Johnson of Springfield and Virginia Badore of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Tossing Funeral Home.
Raymond Hyjek
IRA — A memorial service for Raymond J. Hyjek, 75, who died Monday at his home, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Charles F. Barrett
The funeral service for Charles F. Barrett, 74, of Rutland, who died Feb. 25, 2002, will be held today at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Church. A private burial will follow in Calvary cemetery.
Calling hours will be held today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Lillian M. Paquin
BENNINGTON — Lillian M. Paquin, 91, died Feb. 27, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Taunton, Mass., the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Richards) Paquin.
She received her education in Taunton and at Sacred Heart School in Bennington, and graduated from St. Joseph’s Business College in Bennington.
Miss Paquin worked at Woolworth’s in Bennington and later as a claims adjuster for Prudential Insurance for 40 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Andrew.
She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include a sister, Beatrice Stratton of Bennington; a niece with whom she made her home, Beatrice Welch of Bennington; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Charles Paquin, Raymond Paquin, Edward Paquin and Richard Paquin; and two sisters, Marianna Nash and Lorraine Caron.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with a Mass at 11 a.m. celebrated by the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, pastor. Burial will follow in Village cemetery.
Friends may call today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The wake service will be offered at 4 p.m.

All members of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Andrew are asked to meet today at 5 p.m. at the funeral home to conduct their service.

Mary E. DeForge
BENNINGTON — Mary Eleanor DeForge, 96, died Feb. 28, 2002, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1905, in Bennington, the daughter of Frank and Ella Mae (Bent) Quackenbush.
She received her education at the Burgess School in Bennington.
She married
William DeForge Sr. on Oct. 14, 1924, in Bennington. He died in 1988.
Mrs. DeForge worked as a domestic, and later at Putnam Memorial Hospital as a housemother and later in the central service department.
She enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Frechette and Marjorie Bacon, both of Bennington, and Barbara Malnatti of Richmond, Mass.; 38 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, William DeForge Jr.; and three brothers, Frank Quackenbush, Charles Quackenbush and James Quackenbush.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. George D. Eberly, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Village cemetery.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gertrude King Hoey
CAVENDISH — Gertrude King Hoey, 90, died Feb. 27, 2002, at Springfield Hospital.

Ann F. Lyford
WOODSTOCK — Ann F. Lyford, 69, died Feb. 27, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Bellows Falls, the daughter of Earle and Iverna (Spencer) French.
She graduated from South Royalton High School in 1949 as salutatorian. She later took professional training courses in nursing and became a licensed nurse’s assistant.
She married
Mage Lyford on July 12, 1951, in Hartford.
Mrs. Lyford worked at Robert F. Lewis Inc., a leather factory in West Woodstock, and later at the Merton House in Woodstock for several years. She later returned to the leather factory and worked there until she was forced to retire due to ill health.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time at the family cottage on Lake Champlain.
Survivors include her husband of Woodstock; two sons, Brian Lyford of West Lebanon, N.H., and Steven Lyford Sr. of Storrs, Conn.; three daughters, Carol Rogenski of Rockingham, Laura Black of Algoma, Wis., and Nancy Adams of East Montpelier; two brothers, Delmer French of Windsor and David French of North Springfield; a sister, Eleanor French of North Springfield; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel Taylor and Harriet Rice.
Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Riverside cemetery in Woodstock.

Clarence W. Mills
BETHEL — Clarence W. “Red” Mills, 75, died Feb. 28, 2002, at Mayo Health Care in Northfield.

Marjorie E. Kutzner
SPRINGFIELD — Marjorie E. Kutzner, 76, died Feb. 20, 2002, at Springfield Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1925, in Billings, Mont., the daughter of Clyde and Nelle (Pearson) Kutzner.
She graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego in 1943, and earned a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State College in 1947.
She worked for the National League for Nursing in New York City as director of convention and meeting services for 17 years, after working in the hotel industry in Spokane, Wash., and New York City, including the New York Visitor and Convention Bureau for 12 years. She had also worked with the Continuing Education and Conferences Program of the University of Washington, the Hartford Institute for the Living and the San Diego County Welfare Department. She retired to Springfield in 1984.
She was a member of several national and international environmental organizations, and supported programs serving animal welfare, social justice and universal human rights.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, hiking and music. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed taking in and caring for stray dogs and cats.
Survivors include a sister, Patricia Kutzner of Cuba, N.M.
She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Kutzner of Seattle, in 1996.
The memorial service in the manner of Friends (Quakers) was held Friday at the Whitcomb Senior Residence Building in Springfield. Her ashes will be buried in Mount View cemetery in Billings.

Mildred L. Liset
MALDEN, Mass. — Mildred Luna Liset, 78, died Feb. 26, 2002, at the Lahey-Hitchcock Clinic in Burlington.
She was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Cavendish, Vt., the daughter of Leo and Fleda (Van Guilder) Bates.
She graduated from Black River High School in Ludlow, Vt., in 1941 and New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston in 1944.
Mrs. Liset worked at New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing until she married
. She later was the visiting nurse for the city of Revere, later returned to New England Baptist Hospital, and was the nursing supervisor of the I.V. department, retiring in 1987. She also worked part time at Malden Hospital.
She was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Malden.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Donovan of Maine, Michele Smith of Washington and Denise Liset of Malden; and two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Maplewood Baptist Church in Malden with the Rev. Jack Bailey officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Village cemetery in Cavendish.
There will be no visiting hours.
