Adrienne B. Tanen
Adrienne Fifi Blumberg Tanen, 80, of Rutland, Vt., a winter resident of Lake Worth, Fla., died Saturday at Hospice By the Sea in Boca Raton, Fla.
She was born Aug. 8, 1921, in New York City, daughter of Aida and Herman Blumberg.
Mrs. Tanen was a resident of Rutland since 1938. She graduated from Castleton State College and went on to get her master’s degree in special education. She was a special education teacher at Otter Valley High School for 18 years before retiring.
Mrs. Tanen was a member of the Rutland Jewish Center and the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Tanen was predeceased by her husband, Robert Solomon Tanen, and her son, Donald Tanen. Survivors include two daughters, Dale Marx, and her husband, Dan, of Rochester, N.Y., and Barbara Fishman and her husband, Stuart, of Muttontown, N.Y.; two sons, Larry Tanen and David Tanen and his wife, Susan, of Rutland; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Tanen is also survived by her sister, Lenore Schwartz, and her husband, Alvin, of Boynton Beach, Fla.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, at the Rutland Jewish Center. Burial will follow in the Rutland Jewish cemetery in East Clarendon.
There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the Rutland Jewish Center, 96 Grove St., Rutland, 05701, or the National Kidney Foundation.

Gloria G. Gauthier Rites
SOUTH WALLINGFORD — The funeral service for Gloria G. Gauthier, 60, of South Wallingford, who died Feb. 5, 2002, was held Sunday at the South Wallingford Congregational Church. The Rev. Lawrence V. Switzer Sr., pastor, officiated. Burial will be at a later date at the Green Hill cemetery.
Organist was Helen Gilmore.
Honorary bearers were members of the Wallingford, Danby-Mount Tabor and Rutland Fire Departments.

William F. Dornbusch Rites
BENNINGTON — A celebration of life for William F. Dornbusch, 94, who died Feb. 7, 2002, was held Saturday at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter D. Boehringer of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pittsfield officiating.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Stella R. Hall Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral service for Stella R. Hall, 85, who died Feb. 6, 2002, was held Saturday at St. Peter’s Episcopal. Church in Bennington. The Rev. Arthur Kingdon, rector, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Penelope Hawkins. Burial followed in Park Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Kingdon offering the prayers of committal.
Anne Marcure was organist.
Bearers were Richard Knapp, Patrick Kinney, Merton Cross Sr. and Joseph Farquhar.
Following the committal service, a reception was held in the social hall at St. Peter’s Church.
The Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Warren “Bumpy” Bumps
WOODSTOCK — Warren “Bumpy” Bumps, 78, died Feb. 9, 2002, at his home in Woodstock.
He was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Woodstock, the son of Elmer Bumps and Mildred (Hathorn) Bumps.
Mr. Bumps was educated in Woodstock schools.
He married
Mary Lewis on Feb. 4, 1943. She died in 1986.
Mr. Bumps farmed in Woodstock and Pomfret. He also logged in the area. He was best known as a longtime school bus driver for Woodstock schools.
He owned pulling ponies. He was a member of the Mid State Draft Pony Association, the North East Kingdom Draft Pony Association, and the New England Draft Pony Association.
He is survived by two sons, Harvey N. Bumps and Harry S. Bumps, both of Woodstock; a sister, Nancy Gannon of Derby Line; four grandchildren; a great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Foster, and by two brothers, Raymond and Roger Bumps.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Silver Lake Chapel in Barnard. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Woodstock at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or a favorite charity.

Robert P. Harrington
SPRINGFIELD — Robert P. Harrington, 79, of the Maples, died Feb. 9, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following a brief illness.

SPRINGFIELD — Dr. Magnor Vatne, 79, of Springfield died Feb. 9, 2002, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation center following a long illness.

Suzanne O. Rogstad Rites
WEATHERSFIELD — A funeral service for Suzanne O. Rogstad, 53, who died Feb. 3, 2002, was held Sunday in the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. The Rev. William Nelson, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiated. Burial will take place in Plain cemetery in Perkinsville at a later date.
Connie M. Carey
SPRINGFIELD — Connie M. Carey, 64, of Springfield died Feb. 9, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following a brief illness.

Rosalie B. Gervais Rites
BENNINGTON — A funeral Mass for Mrs. Rosalie B. “Rose” Gervais, who died Feb. 6, 2002, was celebrated Friday from Sacred Heart-St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Park Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Lozinski offering the committal prayers.
Bearers were Robert, Keith and Katlyn Gervais and Robert Hurley.
A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.
A reception followed the services at the Sacred Heart-St. Francis de Sales Church.
A wake service was offered by the Rev. Lozinski Thursday at the funeral home.
Bernadette A. Sausville
BENNINGTON — Bernadette A. Sausville, 69, died Feb. 8, 2002, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
She was born in Colrain, Mass., Jan. 16, 1911, the daughter of Joseph Fortin and Delina Liberty. At age 4, she was adopted by Israel and Aurore Coutu. She received her education in Holyoke, Mass., and Bennington.
She married
Adolphus Sausville May 28, 1932, at Sacred Heart Church. He died in 1962.
She was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Frances de Sales Church and the St. Anne’s Society.
Mrs. Sausville enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and playing cards.
Survivors include three sons, Francis A. Sausville and David J. Sausville, both of Bennington, and Anthony J. Sausville of British Columbia; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Angeli, and by several brothers and sisters.
The funeral will begin Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home and continue at Sacred Heart-St. Francis de Sales Church at noon. Burial will take place in Park Lawn cemetery.

Margaret A. Daigneault Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral of Mrs. Margaret A. Daigneault, who died Feb. 6, 2002, was held from All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home Saturday with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating. A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass. Burial was in Park Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Demasi offering the committal prayers.
Bearers were five sons, James, Gary, Dennis, Mark and Alan Daigneault, and a grandson, Todd Daigneault.
Honorary bearers from the Court of St. Andrew Catholic Daughters of America were Geraldine Sausville, Kay Allen, Elaine Carpenter, Mary Vankerwerken, Rita McCann and Theresa Long.
A reception followed the service at Sacred Heart-St. Francis de Sales parish center.
A wake service was offered by the Rev. Lozinski Friday at the funeral home.
Mary Grover Rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral of Mrs. Mary Grover, who died Feb. 6, 2002, was held from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Saturday with the Rev. Arthur Kingdon, rector, officiating. Burial will take place later in Woodford cemetery in Woodford.
Bearers were Darlene Grover, John Babson, Travis Grover, Bernard Grover III, Daniel Main and Wayne Baker.

Mary Sarah Machia
HIGHGATE CENTER — Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sarah Machia, who died on Feb. 4, 2002, were held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Louis Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John J. Meagher, SSE, pastor, celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial.
Organ and vocal selections by Mary Jo Gillilan were “The Glory of the Lord,” “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be,” “Thou I Have Left You,” “I Will Remember You,” “All I Ask of You” and “Angels.”
Attending at the altar and lector was Paul Laroche. Eucharistic Minister was Ron Nichols.
The pall was placed upon the casket by granddaughters Mabel Corwell and Deborah Mitchell, and the crucifix upon the pall by Deborah Mitchell. The eucharistic gifts were presented at the altar by Mabel Corwell, Nicole Parah and Joann Young.
In attendance were representatives of Holiday House Nursing Home, Welden Villa Senior Housing and the Franklin County Senior Center.
Casket bearers were Brian Corwell, Michael Corwell, James Corwell, Joe McDade, Tom Machia and John Machia.
Interment followed in the Machia family lot at St. Louis cemetery with Father Meagher conducting a committal service. A prayer service was conducted by Father Meagher with family and friends on Wednesday afternoon at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
Simone L. Hopkins
WALTHAM — Simone L. Hopkins, 55, died Feb. 8, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington after a battle with leukemia.
She was born in Bridport on June 23, 1946, the daughter of Ervin E. and Delia (Blaise) Litch. She attended schools in Middlebury and Albany, N.Y.
She married
William O. Hopkins on April 21, 1966.
Until her retirement in June 2000, she was employed for several years by the Addison Northwest School District.
She enjoyed canoeing, camping, cooking, traveling, gardening and antiquing.
She was a Cub Scout leader, served on the Waltham School Board, was a Little League scorekeeper and taught Sunday school. She was superintendent and deacon of the Vergennes Congregational Church and served on the UCC Conference Board.
Survivors include her husband, William O. Hopkins of Waltham; two sons, Scott W. Hopkins of Medway, Mass., and James A. Hopkins of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Carmen Palmer and Annette Armstrong, both of New Haven, and Mariann LaFrancis of Chippenhook; two grandchildren; a niece, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.
