WEST RUTLAND — Frank A. Tyminski, 66, died Jan. 30, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

The funeral service is pending for Saturday at St. Bridget’s Church in West Rutland.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.

Nathan H. Smith

SHREWSBURY — The funeral service for Nathan Harold Smith, 48, who died Jan. 28, 2002, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Shrewsbury Community Church with the Rev. Chris Heintz, pastor, officiating. Mount Moriah Lodge 96, F&AM, will also hold a fraternal service at this time.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Bonnie Pitts Smith of Shrewsbury.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland.

Catherine I. Sweeney Rites

FAIR HAVEN — The funeral Mass for Catherine Irene Sweeney, 72, who died Jan. 27, 2002, was celebrated Wednesday at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerry Flater, OMI, officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fair Haven.

Organist was Nancy Wetherby, accompanied by the church choir.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.

Robert R. Zimmerman Rites

WEST RUTLAND — The funeral service for Robert Rose Zimmerman, 88, who died Jan. 27, 2002, was held Wednesday at the United Church in West Rutland with the Rev. Gordon Naser, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Rye, N.Y.

Organist was Ruth Thrall.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.

Esther R. Bushee

MANCHESTER — Esther R. Bushee, 80, died Jan. 30, 2002, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born July 17, 1921, in Wells, the daughter of Walter and Jessie (Parks) Smith.

She attended schools in Pawlet and West Pawlet.

She worked for Mack Molding in Arlington for many years, retiring in 1955.

She was a member of the Eagles Club and the Harned Fowler Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, both in Manchester.

She enjoyed flowers.

Survivors include two sons, William Bushee and Kenneth McGraw, both of Manchester; a daughter, Diane Wilcox of Manchester; a sister, Mildred Peterson of Manchester; a brother, August Smith of Manchester; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, David Bushee; three sisters, Viola Town, Marilyn DeKalb and Charlotte VanGuilder; and two brothers, Ray and Roy Smith.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester with the Rev. Deborah Kamm, interim pastor of the First Baptist Church in Manchester, officiating. Burial will follow in Mettowee Cemetery in Pawlet.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Manchester Rescue Squad or Manchester Health Services, in care of Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, 05255.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewster Funeral Service.

James F. O’Brien

ALSTEAD, N.H. — James Francis O’Brien, 64, died Jan. 29, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was born July 23, 1937, in Bellows Falls, Vt., the son of Francis and Marie (Henennsy) O’Brien.

He married Lela Lowell on Jan. 18, 1959, in Bellows Falls.

Mr. O’Brien was the fire commissioner in Alstead for 18 years, a selectman for 15 years, the health officer and solid waste manager, all in Alstead.

He was a past member of the Bellows Falls Fire Department, the North Walpole fire chief for 20 years, a deputy forest fire warden and civil defense director for the town of Walpole, and past president of the Connecticut River Fire Mutual Aid.

Survivors include his wife; his children, John, Patrick, Laurie, James and Todd; two sisters, Nora Eno of Bellows Falls and Patty Standen of Springfield, Vt.; a brother, Richard O’Brien of Virginia; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Third Congregational Church in Alstead.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from7 to 9 p.m. at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.

Elizabeth Traska

BRATTLEBORO — Elizabeth Traska, 64, formerly of Brattleboro and Brandon, died Jan. 30, 2002, at Springfield Hospital.

She was born March 27, 1936, in Brattleboro, the daughter of Emil and Mary (Obermeir) Traska.

Survivors include a brother, Raymond Traska of Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Delores Mokrycki of Weathersfield, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Traska.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Brattleboro. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont, Church Street, Bellows Falls, 05101.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ker-Westerlund & Fleming Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Brattleboro.

Dale P. Weaks Rites

ARLINGTON — The funeral service for Dale Pierce Weaks, 63, who died Jan. 26, 2002, was held Tuesday in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland with the Rev. Bradford Clark, rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington, officiating.

Mr. Weaks is survived by a sister, Mildred Weaks.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.

John M. Zielonko Rites

SPRINGFIELD — The funeral Mass for John M. Zielonko, 52, who died Jan. 27, 2002, was celebrated Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield with the Rev. Joseph Romano, pastor, officiating.

Organist was Rafal Nowak, accompanied by the Rejoice Choir, and cantor was Stan Smith.

Bearers were Willis Antonivich, Terry Lynch, Larry Greene, Eric Hennessey, Keith Ferguson and Jigger Barton.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Theresa L. Cook Rites

NORTH BENNINGTON — The funeral service for Theresa L. Cook, who died Jan. 27, 2002, was held Wednesday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lebert, pastor of Harvest Christian Ministries, officiating. Burial followed in Hinsdillville Cemetery.

Bearers were Ronald Salisbury, Timothy Robinson Raymond O’Dell, Carol Cook, Edward O’Dell and Lawrence LeBarron.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Brendan S. Mulcahy

BRANDON — Brendan Sean Mulcahy, 36, died Jan. 30, 2002, in Providence, R.I., as a result of an automobile accident.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon with the Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor, as celebrant. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home.

Albert H. Heath Rites

A military service for Albert H. Heath, 79, of Rutland Town, who died Jan. 27, 2002, was held Thursday at the Clifford Funeral Home by American Legion Post 31. Leroy Norse made the flag presentation. Burial will take place at a later date in Cheney Hill Cemetery in Rutland Town.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.

Virginia M. Carvey Rites

FAIR HAVEN — The funeral Mass for Virginia M. Carvey, 82, who died Jan. 28, 2002, was celebrated Friday at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven with the Rev. Gerry Flater officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in West Rutland.

Organist was Nancy Wetherby and soloists were Lisa Keating and Richard Frazier.

Bearers were grandsons Shane Carvey, Scott Tibbetts, Jason Carvey, Tommy Carvey, James Brooks and Chris Carvey.

A prayer service was conducted Thursday at the Durfee Funeral Home by the Rev. Flater.

The family received friends at Carvey’s Family Restaurant following the Mass.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.

Hartwell E. King

WEST PAWLET — Hartwell E. King, 86, died Jan. 31, 2002, at Roncalli Health Center in Rutland.

He was born May 5, 1915, in Middlebury, the son of Edmund and Gertrude (Chase) King.

He married Carrie Noyes on May 4, 1935.

Mr. King owned and operated Harts Body and Fender and was a constable.

He enjoyed playing the violin, bass viola and piano for Prebles Night Hasks and the Vermonters.

Survivors include a son, Richard King of Ocoee, Fla.; two daughters, Dorothy Ashe of Georgetown, Texas, and Marilyn Kelley of Rutland; two brothers, Clifton King of North Clarendon and Kenneth King of Apopka, Fla.; 14 grandchil-dren and 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife; a son, Hartwell King Jr.; and a grandson.

The graveside service will be held at a later date in Mountainview Cemetery in West Pawlet.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville, N.Y.

The Rev. John R. LaBrake

SELMA, Ala. — The Rev. John R. LaBrake, 71, died Jan. 31, 2002, at the Edmundite Mission Residence in Selma.

He was born May 20, 1930, in Rutland, Vt., the son of Leon and Anna (Richards) LaBrake.

He graduated from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., in 1953, and later earned advanced degrees from the Gregorian University in Rome in 1957, a master’s degree from the University of New York in 1963 and a doctorate from the University of Maryland in 1977.

The Rev. LaBrake was a professed member of the Society of St. Ed-mund for 50 years and an ordained priest for 44 years. He was an educator, administrator, research-er, Navy chaplain and pastor.

He served at Cardinal Mindzenty Catholic High School in Dunkirk, N.Y., Church of the Nativity in Swanton, Vt., St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., Academy of Our Lady High School in Washington, D.C., the Center of Applied Re-search in the Apostolate in Wash-ington, D.C., U.S. Navy Chaplaincy and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bellefontaine, Ala.

Survivors include his cousin, Joanne LaBrake of Colchester, Vt.

Calling hours will be held Wed-nesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Church in Bellefontaine, followed by a Mass. Interment will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. in Fair-lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Selma.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Ed-mundite Southern Missions, 1428 Broad St., Selma, 36701.
