Anton S. Barbic
PITTSFIELD — Anton S. Barbic, 67, of Pittsfield and Killington, died Jan. 4, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
Robert W. Murray Rites
The funeral service for Robert W. Murray, 83, of Rutland, who died Dec. 29, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, was held Friday at the Tossing Funeral Home with the Rev. James McShane, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Reader was Charles LaChance.
The American Legion Post 31 in Rutland provided military honors.
Mr. Murray was predeceased by a son, Dale Cahee.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tossing Funeral Home.
Clara J. Prideaux
BENNINGTON — Clara J. Prideau, 94, died Jan. 4, 2002, at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington following a long illness.
She was born Aug. 26, 1907, in Whitingham, the daughter of John and Emma (Betit) LaFlamme.
She received her education in Bennington.
She first married George Berard on April 25, 1927. He died in 1947. She later married Frank Prideaux on July 17, 1954. He died in 1973.
Mrs. Prideaux had been employed at BenMont Paper Co. and Union Carbide and retired from Bijur Lubricating.
She was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and St. Anne’s Society at the church.
She enjoyed knitting afghans.
Survivors include a son, E. George Berard of Pittstown, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, John Berard; six sisters, Lucia LaFlamme, Lyda McGurn, Celia Rousseau, Rose Foisy, Leila Betit and Flora Rousseau; and six brothers, John LaFlamme, Aime LaFlamme, Zepherine LaFlamme, Theophile LaFlamme, Arthur LaFlamme and Isidore LaFlamme.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. with a Mass. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Anita St. Peter
BENNINGTON — Anita St. Peter, 70, died Jan. 3, 2002, at the Vermont Veterans Home after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Vinton and Hattie (Scudder) Twombly.
She received her education in Providence, R.I., and Island Falls, Maine.
She married Euclid St. Peter in 1951 in Farmington, Maine.
Survivors include her husband of Bennington; two sons, Robert St. Peter of Bennington and Jerome St. Peter of Clifton Park, N.Y.; two brothers, Steven Twombley and David Twombley, both of Rhode Island; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi as celebrant. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at All Faiths Chapel.

Ruth L. Russell
BENNINGTON — Ruth L. Russell, 85, died Jan. 4, 2002, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation after a long illness.
She was born May 15, 1916, in Carlise, Ind., the daughter of Otto and Pearl (Morris) Gibbs.
She graduated from Lebanon (Ind.) High School in 1934.
She married Rexford Russell on April 9, 1939, in Sullivan, Ind. He died in 1999.
Mrs. Russell had worked with her husband as office manager of Sullivan Insurance Agency.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Sullivan, past regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution in the Sullivan area, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a charter member of the Village Homemakers, which she began in 1942 and member of the Alpha Delphian Club.
Survivors include a son, Larry Russell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary Beth Moore of Bennington; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Gibbs; and a sister, June Thompson.
Transfer will be made by the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home to the Alexander-Kean Funeral Home in Sullivan where friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery.

Georgia M. Armstrong
BENNINGTON — Georgia Marie Armstrong, 92, died Jan. 3, 2002, at the Equinox Terrace in Manchester.
She was born May 27, 1909, in Bay Ridge (Brooklyn), N.Y., the daughter of John and Mayola (Edwards) Burns.
She received her early education in the Boston area and graduated from high school in Queens, N.Y., and continued her education at Drake Business School in New York City.
She was married to William Armstrong for more than 60 years. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Armstrong was the personal secretary for the commercial editor of the New York Herald Tribune and later, after relocating to Vermont, she became the executive director of the Real Estate Commission for the State of Vermont for many years.
She was a member of the Harvest Christian Church, a former member of the National League of Licensed Law Officials, National Realtors Association and Brooklyn Flower Club.
Mrs. Armstrong loved music and was always heard singing. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
Survivors include three sons, William Armstrong Jr. of Bennington, John Armstrong of Montpelier and R. Russell Armstrong of Milton; two daughters, Georgia Davis of Bennington and New Port Richey, Fla., and Jacquelyn Martin of Danby and Port Charlotte, Fla.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister, Dolly Smith, in 2001.
The service to celebrate her life will be held at the Harvest Christian Ministries at a later date. Burial will take place in Towslee Cemetery in Pownal.

Claren S. Corey
BENNINGTON — Claren Sylvester Corey, 78, died Jan. 2, 2002.
He was born Dec. 12, 1923, and was a lifelong resident of the Bennington area.
He received his early education in Danby elementary schools and graduated from Rutland High School.
Mr. Corey married Norma Bowen on Aug. 27, 1949, in Manchester.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
Survivors include six sons, Claren Corey Jr. of Annapolis Md., Michael Corey of Puyallup, Wash., Wayne Corey of East Haven, Gordon Corey of White Creek, N.Y., Gary Corey of Bennington and Kenneth Corey of Wallomsac, N.Y.; three daughters, Linda Budro of Sunderland, Karen LaFrancis of Middle Granville, N.Y., and Diana Corey of Wallomsac, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Basil Corey of Danby and Lyle Corey of Cedar Ridge, Colo.; and two sisters, Natalie Bowen of Sunderland and Patricia LaClair of Corinth, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his wife; and a sister, Naomi Corey.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the East Arlington Federated Church. A reception will follow.
Anne G. Haslip
WALPOLE, N.H. — Anne G. Haslip, 78, died Jan. 3, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of George and Anna (Kirk) Johnston.
She graduated from Elliot Community Hospital of Nursing in Keene in 1945.
Mrs. Haslip was a registered nurse and worked at the Jane Brown Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital for many years.
She was a member of the Walpole Historical Society and Bellows Falls (Vt.) Senior Center.
Survivors include a son, Robert Haslip of Orlando, Fla.; four daughters, Shelley Hicks and Janet Hicks, both of Walpole, Sharon Colaneri of Barrington, R.I., and Lori Shaughnessey of Bellows Falls, Vt.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Haslip; and three sisters, Mary Roentsch, Margaret Canario and Helen Corbett.
The memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at St Luke’s Church in Barrington, R.I.
There will be no calling hours.

Vincent E. Bushee Rites
MANCHESTER CENTER — The prayer service for Vincent Eugen Bushee, 78, who died Dec. 31, 2001, was held Friday at the Brewster Funeral Service and was followed by a Mass at St. Paul’s Church in Manchester Center with the Rev. Julian LaFlamme, pastor, officiating.
Organist was Louise Gauthier.
The scriptural reading was given by Sharon Bushee, a daughter-in-law.
Burial followed the Mass in Dellwood Cemetery with a rifle salute by members of the Harned-Fowler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Manchester. Maurice Rancourt sounded taps. Bill Weeks presented the flag to the family.
Pallbearers were Jeff Rose, Clint Hazelton, Vincent Bushee Jr., George Bushee, Mike Connors and Phil Bourn.
Members of the VFW and Manchester Eagles Lodge conducted services during the visitation Thursday evening at the funeral home. The vigil service was offered by the Rev. LaFlamme and Sharon Bushee.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester Center.
LeRoy J. Marsden Rites
BENNINGTON — The service of thanksgiving and celebration of the life of LeRoy J. Marsden, 87, who died Dec. 14, 2001, was held Friday at the Second Congregational Church in Bennington with the Rev. Mary Lee-Clark, pastor, officiating.
Organist was Cindy Riddle and soloist was Sharon Yarnall.
Scriptural readings were given by Becky Farrington, a granddaughter and Steven Marsden, a grandson.
Words of remembrance were offered by Judy Pennock, Eugene Clark, Marion Brenenstuhl and Paul Crane.
A time of fellowship and sharing was held in Webster Hall at the church following the service.
Among those attending the service were members of the Catamount Gadabouts Square Dancers Group, Southwestern Vermont Supervisory Union and Second Congregational Church.
