Thomas P. Fox
SHAFTSBURY - Thomas P. Fox, 80, former resident of Marine Park in Brooklyn, N.Y., died Sept. 3, 2001, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation after a brief illness.
He was born July 28, 1921, in Brooklyn, the son of Thomas and Loretta (Harrigan) Fox.
He received his education in Brooklyn and graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn.
Mr. Fox married Mary "Mae" Burns on April 17, 1948, in Brooklyn.
He was retired from the Missing Person Squad of the New York City Police Department, and was later employed as head of security at the French American Bank in New York City.
He was a former combat veteran in the U.S. Army where he served during World War II.
Mr. Fox was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 107 in Brooklyn, American Legion Post 13 in Bennington and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of Shaftsbury; a sister, Sister Helen Fox, OSF, of Hastings on the Hudson, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a niece; and two sisters, Loretta Cook and Mary E. Fox.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10 a.m. where the funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The wake service will also be held tonight.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Vermont Chapter of the American Cancer Society or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.
All members of American Legion Post 13 are requested to meet at the funeral home tonight at 7 p.m. to conduct their services.

Esther E. Prince
WESTON - Esther Ellen Prince, 63, died at Rutland Regional Medical Center Sept. 5, 2001, after a long illness.
Arrangements are pending with the Adams & Kenney Funeral Home in Ludlow.
Frank A. Annis
KEENE, N.H. -Frank A. Annis, 90, formerly of Langdon, died Sept. 3, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 3, 1911, in Boston, the son of Agustus and Sara (Emory) Annis.
He attended schools in Boston.
Mr. Annis married Alice Guinard in 1942 in Alstead. She died in 1982.
He worked for the Foundry in Springfield, Vt.
He was a musician and enjoyed playing his harmonica.
Survivors include a son, Douglas of Keene; and a daughter, Jane Spear of central Vermont.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt., with the Rev. Harold Noyes officiating. Burial will follow in Lower Langdon Cemetery in Langdon.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Salvation Army, 15 Roxbury St., Keene, 03431.

Frances K. Shattuck Rites
BENNINGTON - The funeral Mass for Frances K. Shattuck, 80, who died Aug. 30, 2001, was held Tuesday morning at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, CSC, associate pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in Park Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi offering the committal prayers.
Vocalist was Dee Tigue.
Bearers were Con Shattuck, Frank Shattuck, Garrett Shattuck, Timothy Chila, Paul Kennedy and George Hochschcender.
The vigil service was held Monday evening at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home by the Rev. Vincent Coppola.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
George H. Matteson Rites
NORTH BENNINGTON - The graveside committal service for George H. "Wit" Matteson, 84, who died Aug. 29, 2001, was held Tuesday in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

NORTH BENNINGTON - The funeral service for Irene Sweet, 68, who died Aug. 30, 2001, was held Tuesday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating. Burial followed in White Chapel Cemetery.

Paul G. Hebert Sr. Rites
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The funeral service for Paul G. Hebert Sr., 54, who died Aug. 29, 2001, was held Wednesday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating. Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Yvette E. Paquette Rites
MIDDLEBURY - The funeral Mass for Yvette Estelle Paquette, who died Sept. 2, 2001, was held Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter O'Leary as celebrant. Burial and committal prayers followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Organist was Kevin Parizo.
Pallbearers were Vern Riley, Peter Osborne, William Brush, Fletcher Brush, David Munson and Jerry Douglas.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service.
Margaret L. Ciofreddi
Margaret “Peg” Ciofreddi, 72, of Rutland died Dec. 27, 2001, at Mount Ascutney Nursing Facility in Windsor.
She was born May 22, 1929, in Cortland, N.Y., the daughter of Elijah and Margaret (Henning) Nichols.
She graduated from the College of St. Joseph in Rutland.
Mrs. Ciofreddi was a freelance writer and taught at the Open Door Mission.
Survivors include her husband, John Ciofreddi of Rutland; two daughters, Teresa Ciofreddi of White River and Michelle Ciofreddi of Rutland; two sons, William Ciofreddi and John Ciofreddi Jr. of Lebanon, N.H.; three sisters, Mary Bowers of Roanoke, Va., Ann Rongo and Shirley Calabro of Cortland, N.Y.; a brother, Edward Nichols of Killawog, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elsie M. Weeks
Elsie Marita “Rita” Weeks, 102, of Rutland died Dec. 26, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 22, 1899, in Pittsford, the daughter of Albie and Idella (Hagan) Manning.
She was married to Chauncey Weeks, who died in 1978.
Survivors include a son, Lyle Weeks of Center Rutland; a sister, Juanita West of Oregon; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Allan Manning and Richard Manning.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mount St. Joseph Convent Chapel with the Rev. John A. Guischard officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund, Convent Avenue, Rutland, 05701.

Peter Kamuda
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Peter A. Kamuda, 80, died Dec. 24, 2001, at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach.
He was born in Florence, Vt., moved to Mashpee, Mass., and has been a winter resident of New Smyrna Beach since 1990.
Mr. Kamuda was a refrigerator maintenance worker for a grocery store chain. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Philbrick of Yarmouth, Mass., and Mary Zuorski of Rowley, Mass.; a sister, Frances Dormer of New York; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Shannon Funeral Home in Port Orange.
Shirley Kelley
CUTTINGSVILLE — The funeral service for Shirley Kelley, 82, who died Dec. 26, 2001, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home with the Rev. Christopher Heintz, pastor of the Shrewsbury Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow in East Clarendon Cemetery.
The Order of Eastern Star will conduct a fraternal service prior to the funeral. Members participating are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m.

James C. Burns Rites
The funeral service for James C. Burns, 74, of Rutland Town, who died Dec. 24, 2001, was held Thursday at St. Peter’s Church with the Rev. W. Andre Houle, pastor, as celebrant.
Concelebrant was the Rev. John Herbert, assistant pastor. Burial followed in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in West Rutland.
Organist was John Riddle and vocalist was Elise Bushey Cassarino.
Readers were Kathleen Kelley, a granddaughter, Patrick Kelley, a grandson and Margaret Canary.
Words of remembrance were offered by a son, Paul Burns, and a daughter, Jean Kelley.
The American Legion Post 87 of West Rutland provided military honors. Wally Pratt presented the flag to the family.
Bearers were R. Joseph O’Rourke, Frank Heald and James Canary, all of Rutland; Michael Phalen of Marlboro, Mass., Daniel Phalen of Stowe, Ohio and Paul Reiber of Chittenden.
A prayer service was held Wednesday at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Houle.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Nancy Haas Rites
CLAREMONT, N.H. — The memorial service for Nancy Haas, 47, former resident of Rutland, Vt., who died Dec. 21, 2001, was held Thursday at the Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Christopher Powell, rector, officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in East Clarendon Cemetery.
