John Richard Wisehart
JERICHO — John Richard Wisehart, 40, died unexpectedly in a plane accident with his son, Ethan Lee Wisehart, on Oct. 18, 2001.
John was born in Connecticut but lived most of his life in Vermont. He graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1979 and was a graduate of Vermont Technical College. He was employed by Engelberth Construction for over 15 years.
John enjoyed camping with friends, flyfishing, biking and a fine glass of Merlot. Many of his friends will remember his love of basketball. Hoop was John’s game. Though not particularly graceful and having limited vertical leap, he was still known as “king of the boards.” John’s siblings remember him as a constant source of amusement for the whole family and truly appreciated his sarcastic nature, and hold him responsible for theirs.
John’s marriage to Annette Mero opened his world. Together they raised two beautiful boys, Ben and Ethan, and their life was filled with many family activities. They were active members of their church, loved their neighborhood community and as a family became an integral part of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
John will be deeply missed by those he left behind. His eldest son, Benjamin John Wisehart; his mother, Monica Wisehart; father Delbert Wisehart; sister Tammy Willey and her husband, Giles Willey; sister Karen Wisehart; brother Del Wisehart and his wife, Gretchen; brother Kirk Wisehart and his wife, Kim; father-in-law Reginald J. Mero; brother-in-law Phillip H. Mero and his wife, Kerry; sister-in-law Janette (Mero) Pritchard and her fiancé, Ron Muttillo; along with nieces Jordan and Taylor Willey, Lauren Wisehart, Avery Wisehart, Abigail Mero and nephew Thomas Mero; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends, including Peggy Kraus. He was predeceased earlier this year by his wife of fourteen years, Annette.
John’s family would like to give special thanks to the incredible community of family, friends and co-workers who have supported them through this tragic event. The outpouring of kindness has been immeasurable.

Playing catch, kickball and building forts in the woods with his closest buddy, Anthony Pratt, were priorities to Ethan.
