HARTLAND — Faith L. Dunne, 60, died suddenly at her home Aug. 25, 2001.

Myrtle E. Nichols
NORTH THETFORD — A memorial service for Myrtle E. Nichols, 91, of North Thetford, will be held today at 4 p.m. in the North Thetford Federated Church.

Laurisa Jane Gregoire
NORTH RANDOLPH — Laurisa Jane Gregoire, infant daughter of Scott and Donna (Deyette) Gregoire, died soon after birth at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington on Aug. 25, 2001.
Survivors include her parents of North Randolph; a brother, Jason Gregoire of North Randolph; her maternal grandparents of Williamstown; her paternal grandparents of Websterville, and her paternal great-grandmother of Barre.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Braintree.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph A. Sherman
FAIR HAVEN — Joseph A. Sherman, 83, died Oct. 16, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Pittstown, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Theresa (Horvath) Sherman.
He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Troy, N.Y., and continued his education at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in Troy and Miami University in Miami, Fla.
He married Miriam Edwards on June 20, 1948, in Fair Haven.
Mr. Sherman owned and operated movie theaters throughout New York and Vermont for many years. He had owned two auction houses in Fair Haven, and manufacturing plants in Vermont and Granby, Quebec.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He was a member of Eureka Lodge 75 F&AM of Fair Haven and Cairo Temple of Rutland for more than 50 years, and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3907 of Fair Haven. He served as state director of the Miss USA Pageant for the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont for many years.
Survivors include his wife of Fair Haven; two daughters, JoEllen Oliver of Whitehall, N.Y., and Jayne Sherman of Castleton; a sister, Theresa Snyder of Troy, N.Y.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Fair Haven with the Rev. John Wood, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fair Haven.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home.
Griffith M. Jones
Griffith “Sonny” Morris Jones, 65, of Rutland died Oct. 16, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
Armand N. Demers Jr. rites
The graveside service for Armand Nelson Demers Jr., 60, who died Oct. 6, 2001, was held Tuesday in Tinmouth Cemetery in Tinmouth with the Rev. Thomas V. Mattison, assistant pastor of Christ the King Church in Rutland, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Birger Williams rites
The funeral service for Birger Williams, 47, of Rutland who died Oct. 13, 2001, was held Tuesday at the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland with the Revs. Pete and Agnes Fiske officiating. Burial was in Village Cemetery in Hinesburg with the Rev. Pete Fiske officiating.

Shirley D. Bruneault
Shirley Doris Bruneault, 58, of Rutland died Oct. 9, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 9, 1943, in Cornish, N.H., the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Lane) Burr.
She was educated in New Hampshire schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Victoria T. Peer of Auburn, Maine; three sons, Michael Thornton of Rutland, Wayne Thornton of Poultney and Randy Thornton of Evansville, Wis.; and six grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Cornish.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Achille Brodeur
CHESTER — Achille “Archie” Brodeur, 63, died Sept. 11, 2001, of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 1, 1938, the son of Archilles Brodeur and Ida Papineau.
Survivors include two sisters and their children.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in Chester Depot at the Green Mountain Railroad train station.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to Black River Mental Health Center in Springfield.
Laura H. Rice
WOODSTOCK — Laura Hoadley Rice, 90, died Oct. 16, 2001, at Brookside Nursing Home in Bradford.
She was born Sept. 4, 1911, in South Woodstock, the daughter of Albert E. Hoadley and Hattie E. Allen.
She was educated in South Woodstock and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1931.
She married Ernest M. Rice on Jan. 12, 1932, in Windsor.
Mrs. Rice worked at Kedron Valley Inn in South Woodstock, the White Cottage in Woodstock, South Woodstock Country School and many house-sitting jobs.
She was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church in Woodstock, the Social Group at the church, South Woodstock Homemakers, Orion Grange 83 of South Woodstock, and volunteered at Edwin E. Thompson Senior Center.
She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Sugar House Swingers Square Dance Club for many years. She was also a seamstress.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley L. Rice of Quechee and Albert E. Rice of North Hartland; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Darwin Hoadley of South Woodstock; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1971; by a brother, Elwin Hoadley, in 1958; by a sister, Iris Hoadley, in 1970, and a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at South Woodstock Community Church in South Woodstock with the Rev. Janice Chilek officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock.
Friends may call Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Margaret E. Angwin
WOODSTOCK — Margaret Elaine Godsill Angwin, 88, died Oct. 15, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born Nov. 26, 1912, in Woodstock, the daughter of Thomas J. and Blanche H. (Barteau) Godsill.
She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1931.
She owned and operated the Women’s Shop from 1939 to 1952, and the Men’s Shop from 1952 to 1971 in Woodstock. She was the Homestead reporter for the Vermont Standard since 1994.
She was a 50-year member of First Congregational Church, member of Bridgewater Congregational Church, Kings Daughters and the Women’s Club in West Woodstock. She volunteered for the Red Cross during World War II and later at the Edwin Thompson Senior Center.
Survivors include three nieces, Susan Esser of Syracuse, N.Y., and Lynette Bresnahan and Lorna Godsill of Glastonbury, Conn.; and a stepdaughter, Millie Hunt of Stockbridge.
Friends at the Homestead will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Ruby I. Bent
BENNINGTON — Ruby I. Bent, 80, died Oct. 17, 2001, at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Bennington, the daughter of Pearl and Julia (Olin) Gates.
She worked at Union Carbide Corp. and as an Avon representative.
Mrs. Bent was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.
Survivors include a son, Maj. Charles J. Bushey, USMC (Ret.) of North Bennington; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleta Schnurr of Bennington; a brother, Winfield Gates of Bennington; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Julianne Mears, and by a brother, Lawrence Gates.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at All Faiths Chapel at Vermont Veterans Home with the Rev. John Foster, chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Gerhardt H. Daden
SUNDERLAND — Gerhardt Horst Daden, 75, a resident of 191 Milbrook Road in Sunderland, Vt., died on Tuesday evening, October 16, 2001, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt.
Mr. Daden was born on August 11, 1926, in Simsbury, Conn., the son of Henry B. and Elsie (Jendreczyk) Daden. He was educated in Simsbury schools, Avon Old Farm School for Boys, Yale University and the Morse Business College. Mr. Daden served his country in the U.S. Navy during both WW II and Korea and was discharged from the Naval Reserves in 1968.
Mr. Daden had worked as a restaurateur for most of his life, first as owner of the Pettibone Restaurant in Simsbury, then as owner of the Gourmet Shoppe in Manchester, Vt., from 1969 - 1983 and, later, as restaurant manager at the Dorset (Vt.) Field Club, during the summer months for several years.
Vermont became Mr. Daden’s permanent home in 1969, first residing in West Rupert and later with his son Gary until he required additional nursing care because of his illness.
While residing in Connecticut, Mr. Daden was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury and the Watertown Lions Club. He continued his Lions’s membership in Vermont in the Manchester Club.
Mr. Daden is survived by his children and their spouses, Gerhard “Gary” and Chesh Daden of Sunderland, Vt., Cheryl and Daniel Mahoney of Burlington, Conn., Heidi and Bob Mowell of Stonington, Conn., Lisa and James Farrar of Weston, Vt., and Kristi and James Brown of Preston, Conn.; his brother and wife, Henry and Irene Daden of Simsbury, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Anita, Jeremy, Colbey, Hayley, Jesse, Libba, Dylan and Zachary; his former wife, Helena Hogg of Niantic, Conn.; and four nieces. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Virginia in 1989.
Funeral services for Mr. Daden will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street in Bennington, Vt., with a prayer followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 12 noon at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Interment services with military honors will be held at the convenience of Mr. Daden’s family at Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland, Vt. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
The parish prayer service will be held on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
