Herbert Ellison

SPRINGFIELD — Herbert Ellison, 81, died July 29, 2001, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Adams & Kenney Funeral Home in Ludlow.

Anna Pezzulich Rites

NORTH BENNINGTON — A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington for Mrs. Anna Pezzulich, 85, who died July 23, 2001. The Rev. Robert Baffa, pastor, and the Rev. Michael DeMasi officiated. Burial followed in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Sharon Yarnall. Readings were by Mrs. Pezzulich’s grandson, Matthew Pezzulich; her daughter, Dr. Evelyn Pezzulich, and her son, Dr. Robert Pezzulich.

The honor guard consisted of members of the church Sodality.

Tracey A. True

WOODFORD — Tracey A. True, 37, of Woodford, died July 27, 2001, at her residence after a lifelong struggle with heart disease.

She was born July 8, 1963, in Middletown, Conn. She graduated from East Hampton (Conn.) High School.

She moved to Vermont in 1997.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s group in Bennington and had also been active in Bennington Project Independence.

She is survived by her parents, Dean and Kate True of Woodford; her paternal grandparents, Bonnie True of East Hampton, Conn., and Philip True of Bellows Falls; two stepbrothers, Gregory Gates of Griswold, Conn., and Christopher Gates of Norwich, Conn.; a stepsister, Mindy Gates of New London, Conn.; a nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her biological mother, Margaret L. True, died in 1978.

The funeral will be held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home today at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Deborah Trolenberg, pastor of the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in East Hampton, Conn., on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. until the time of the service. Members of the Bennington Business and Professional Women will meet at the funeral home today at 7:30 p.m. for a service.

Donations may be made to the Pediatric Cardiology Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital or the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.

Emma J. Nurge

BENNINGTON — Emma Josephine Nurge, 84, died July 27, 2001, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 2, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Keinzle) Jelnek. She received her education in Brooklyn.

She was married to Edwin Nurge, who died in 1993.

Mr. and Mrs. Nurge had lived in Baldwin, N.Y., where they owned and operated a television repair service. They moved to Arlington in 1964, to Sandgate in 1975 and then to Bennington in 1992. They had been the proprietors of the Valhalla Motel in Arlington.

Mrs. Nurge had been a Grey Lady at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington for seven years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bennington.

She enjoyed crafts and gardening.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Christiansen of Sandgate; a stepdaughter, Lillian Blaikie of Franklin, N.H.; a brother, Joseph Jelnek of West Palm Beach, Fla., and several nieces.

A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sandgate Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Scott Barton and the Rev. Dr. John Eusden officiating.

There are no calling hours.

Donations may be made to the Vermont Diabetes Association, the Vermont Division of the American Heart Association or the Bennington Home Health Agency, through the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 528, Arlington, 05250.

William E. Barnes

SPRINGFIELD — William Edward Barnes, 78, died July 28, 2001, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was employed at the Vermont Research Co. for 16 years. He was a development design engineer with a specialty in analog and digital circuit design for communications equipment and manager of electrical engineering.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Moore Barnes; a son, John L. Barnes of Manchester, N.H.; and two daughters, Ellen L. Lawrence-Barnes of Tucson, Ariz., and Kimberley J. Barnes of Boston.

A memorial service will be held at the Hillsborough Reformed Church in Millstone, N.J. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in East Millstone, N.J.

Donations may be made to Friends of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, N.H., 03756.

Claire Bubar Rites

WILMINGTON — A graveside funeral service for Claire Bubar, 68, who died July 22, 2001, was held Friday at the Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington with the Rev. John Cerrato, pastor of the Wilmington Baptist Church, officiating.

The Covey & Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas V. Horton Jr. Rites

WEST DOVER — The funeral service for Thomas V. Horton Jr., 23, who died July 24, 2001, was held Sunday at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington with the Rev. John Cerrato, pastor of the Wilmington Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.

Several tributes and remembrances were offered by family and friends.

William C. Jimmo

NEW HAVEN — William C. Jimmo, 57, died July 28, 2001, at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.

He was born March 14, 1944, in Burlington.

He served in the Vermont Army National Guard.

He was employed as a chef at Middlebury College for several years.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Katherine (Clark) Jimmo of New Haven; two daughters, Melissa Gearwar of Brandon and Wendy Barrows of Monkton; a son, William C. Jimmo II of Burlington; a brother, James C. Jimmo of South Burlington; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Valley Bible Church in East Middlebury. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven.

Friends may call at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Donations may be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Middlebury 05753.

Kenneth V. Thompson

STARKSBORO — Kenneth V. Thompson, 79, died July 28, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Starksboro, the son of Vesper and Kate (Mooby) Thompson.

He was employed by Rouse Transport Co. for 30 years. He also was employed by Rockingham Enterprises Inc. for several years.

Mr. Thompson is survived by three sisters, Celia Clime of Maryland, Oletha Bickford of New Jersey and Leona Fawaz of California; two brothers, Robert Thompson of Lincoln and Elwyn Thompson of Maryland; longtime friend Rose Punt of White River Junction, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Burial will be in Green Mount Cemetery in Starksboro.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral.

Harry F. Olney

SPRINGFIELD - Harry F. Olney, 88, died July 29, 2001, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are pending at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Elizabeth J. Laramie

FAIR HAVEN - Elizabeth Jane (Mulroy) Laramie, 74, died July 30, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Laramie, in 1990.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.

The funeral Mass is pending for Thursday at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven.

Arrangements are under the direction of Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.

Eugenie M. Roussil Rites

The funeral service for Eugenie M. (Howard) Roussil, 95, of Rutland, who died July 25, 2001, was held Monday at St. Peter Church with the Rev. John Herbert, assistant pastor, officiating. Concelebrants were the Rev. Raymond Walsh, chaplain of Loretto Home, and the Rev. Robert Whalen, pastor of St. Bridget's Church in West Rutland. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Ministers of the altar were Robert Tedesco, Al Michael Cioffi, James Davidson and Joseph Tilden.

Organist was James Cassarino and vocalist was Beth Peters.

Readers were Colin Roussil and Jennifer Roussil, grandchildren.

Speaker was Michelle Fredette, a granddaughter.

Bearers were Ken Roussil of Gaithersburg, Md., Larry Roussil of Severna Park, Md., James Calvin and Greg Calvin, both of Rutland, all grandchildren, Keith Roussil of Philadelphia and Paul Kerby of London, England, both great-grandsons.

Honorary bearers were members of the Sodality of the Most Holy Rosary, Ann Davidson, Mary Del Veneri, Irene Hughes and Edith Hurley.

A prayer service was held Sunday afternoon at Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Herbert.

Arrangements were under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Jane C. Olson

BENNINGTON - Jane C. Olson, 79, a former resident of Bennington, died July 29, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg, Va.

She was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Bennington, the daughter of Henry and Elsie (LaPoint) McGuire.

She received her education in Bennington schools.

She married Arthur N. Olson on May 5, 1951, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. He died in 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Robert A. Olson of Sterling, Va., and William M. Olson of Cincinnati; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by seven sisters, Elizabeth Connors, Irene Johnson, Frances Hebert, Mary Maguire and Alice Olson; and two brothers, George McGuire and William McGuire.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and continue at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where a funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mahar & Son Funeral Home. A vigil service will also be offered Thursday evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
