Thomas P. Clairmont
BURLINGTON — Thomas P. Clairmont, 80, died July 10, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
He was born July 26, 1920, son of Adrian and Frances K. Clairmont.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1940 and the University of Vermont in 1948, and received his master’s in education in 1953 from the University of Vermont.
Mr. Clairmont married Ruth Thompson in 1947 in Rutland.
He taught and coached at Black River High School in Ludlow for six years and taught at Burlington High School for one year. He later worked at UVM in the admissions and registrar’s office for 30 years.
Mr. Clairmont served in World War II in the European Theatre.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Thomas Clairmont of Portsmouth, N.H.; Steven Clairmont of South Burlington and Gregory Clairmont of Colchester; two brothers; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Burlington. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in South Burlington.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Ready Funeral Home, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington.

Viola G. Rogers
HARTFORD — Viola G. Rogers, 78, died July 11, 2001, at her home.
She was born March 2, 1923, in Stowe, daughter of Elmer and Gladys (Hoisington) Johnson.
She graduated from high school in Fitchburg, Mass.
She married Bernard F. Rogers on Nov. 10, 1945, in Stark, N.H.
Mrs. Rogers worked as a nurse’s aide at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction from 1966 until retiring in 1986.
She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include four sons, Darcy D. of Lebanon, N.H., Bernard F. Jr. of Portsmouth, N.H., Larry G. of Unity, N.H., and James A. of Farmington, N.H.; two daughters, Lori L. Rogers of West Hartford and Sharon L. Rogers of Hamilton, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; and a half-sister, Jennie Johnson of Hydeville.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Clarabelle and Elizabeth Johnson.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster, N.H.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Infant Galipeau rites
BENNINGTON — Funeral services for Login Makenzie Galipeau, infant daughter of Joseph M. and Melissa Galipeau, who died July 10, 2001, were held Thursday at Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Bearers were Michael Galipeau, Darren Harrington and Theodore E. Galipeau, all uncles.
Arrangements were under the direction of Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
John P. Dido
WEST RUTLAND — The funeral Mass for John P. Dido (Dydo) Sr., 72, who died July 24, 2001, in Rutland, was held Friday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with the Rev. Frank S. Warzocha, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Organist was Dorothy Blicharz.
Reader was Joseph F. Czachor.
Bearers were Paul Dunchus, Ducky Grabowski and Joseph Nartowicz, all of West Rutland, Mark Drop of Hydeville, Stanley Nartowicz of Rutland and John Blanchard of Ira.
Members of the West Rutland American Legion Post 87 provided military honors. Mitch Oskoski and Wally Pratt were flag folders, with Mr. Pratt presenting the flag to the family.
A prayer service was held Thursday at Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Warzocha.
Arrangements were under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
Joseph Fuster
PITTSFIELD - Joseph Edward Fuster, 89, died July 26, 2001, at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland.
He was born Aug. 27, 1911, in Switzerland, the son of Joseph A. and Marie (Halter) Fuster.
He graduated from high school in Switzerland, and came to the U.S. in 1930.
Mr. Fuster worked as a civilian boiler welder on Navy destroyers during World War II. He worked as a dairy farmer in New York and New Jersey, and later as a bartender and waiter at the Stork Club in New York City.
He married Frances Engler Jan. 20, 1940, in Union City, N.J. Mrs. Fuster died in 1971. They operated the Swiss Farm Lodge in Pittsfield from 1944 until his retirement in 1976.
He served the town of Pittsfield in various capacities for over 27 years.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph R. Fuster of Pittsfield and Dennis J. Fuster of Columbiana, Ohio; two daughters, Sandra F. Begin of Pittsfield and Rosalie F. Benson of Bethel; a brother Pius Fuster, and a sister, Marie Zehender, both of Switzerland; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Leo Fuster and Franz Fuster, and a sister, Rosalie Fuster, all of Switzerland, are deceased. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel. The Rev. Lance Harlow will officiate. Burial will follow at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Faith Havens
BRANDON - Funeral services for Faith M. Havens, who died July 25, 2001, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Episcopal Church.
Omitted from the survivors was a long time companion, Patrick Bryant of Brandon. The Clifford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SPRINGFIELD - Graveside services for Joseph P. Krupsky, who died July 24, 2001, were held Saturday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield. The Rev. Joseph Romano, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated.
Eugenie Roussil
RUTLAND - Funeral services for Eugenie M. Roussil, who died July 25, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Corine Strom
PROCTOR - Corine Eva Strom, 94, a long time resident of Proctor, died July 28, 2001, at the Eden Park Nursing Home, after a long illness. Funeral arrangements are pending for Tuesday. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 Main Street in Rutland.
Elizabeth A. Baker
Elizabeth “Bettsie” Baker, 54, of Shoreham, N.Y., and a former resident of Rutland, died July 23, 2001, at her home.
She was born July 14, 1947, in Rutland, daughter of George W. and Margaret (Curtis) Gragen.
She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1965, attended Ladycliff College and graduated from Castleton State College with a degree in teaching.
She married Peter Baker in 1968 at St. Peter’s Church.
Mrs. Baker was a math teacher at Essex Junction High School years ago, retiring to raise her family.
Survivors include her husband of Shoreham; four daughters, Teresa Baker-Casey and Sara Baker of Shoreham, Melissa Baker of Chicago and Rebecca Doppman of Winooski; a brother, William Gragen of Perkinsville; her stepmother, Agnes Curtis Gragen of Rutland; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Ludlow with the Rev. George Paulin, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Eugenie M. Roussil, 95, of Rutland, died July 25, 2001, at Eden Park Nursing Home.

John P. Dido Sr.
WEST RUTLAND — John P. Dido (Dydo) Sr., 72, died July 24, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928, in West Rutland, son of Anthony and Frances (Stomper) Dido.
He worked for the Vermont Marble Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1993.
Mr. Dido was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and West Rutland American Legion Post 87.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Peryer) Dido of West Rutland; two sons, John Dydo Jr. of Rutland and Randy Dydo of West Rutland; three daughters, Debra Ferguson of Rutland, Donna Patterson of Proctorsville and Lisa Savoy of Castleton; four sisters, Helen Kapitan of Fair Haven and Anna Duda, Leona Nartowicz and Theresa Davis, all of West Rutland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore Dido and Anthony Dydo Jr.
The funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.

Margaret C. Vaughan
FAIR HAVEN — Margaret Cecelia Vaughan, 84, died July 24, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief battle with lymphoma.
She was born March 5, 1917, in Fair Haven, daughter of Harry W. and Elizabeth (Morgan) Sullivan.
She graduated from Fair Haven High School in 1935.
Mrs. Vaughan worked at Springfield Hospital as a registered nurse, retiring in 1966.
She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven and Altar Society.
She enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Kay Taylor of Rockingham; three sons, William E. Vaughan of North Springfield, John R. Vaughan of Springfield and Thomas G. Vaughan of West Lebanon, N.H.; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a niece.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney S. Vaughan, who died in 1997; a sister, Mary Katherine Bird; and a brother, George W. Sullivan.
The funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven with the Rev. James Shea officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.
