Nicholas Brown
BENSON - Nicholas Andrew Truman Brown, 12, died June 16, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Poultney.
He was born July 17, 1988, in Rutland, the son of Bert Daron Brown and Michelle Ada Bissette. He was a sixth grade student at the Benson Village School.
Nicholas was a caring and compassionate young man who was constantly making new friends. He enjoyed playing with his sister and brother, and loved animals, especially cats.
Survivors include his parents of Benson; his sister, Kayla Ann Brown; his brother, Dennis Perry Brown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His maternal grandparents, Perry E. Bissette and Beverly (McKenzie) Bissette; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph G. Brown and Norma M. Brown; are deceased.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Wallingford.
There are no calling hours.

Harvey Clark
BRANDON - Harvey Brayton Clark, 81, died June 29, 2001, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Rutland. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Irene Daley
WEST RUTLAND - Irene R. Daley, 93, of West Rutland, died June 29, 2001, at the Mountain View Center Genesis Elder Care in Rutland.
She was born Oct. 19, 1907, in Center Rutland, the daughter of Umberto and Nelda (Baretta) Ravenna.
She graduated from Rutland High School in 1925 and from the Rutland Hospital School of Nursing in 1929.
She married William J. “Red” Daley Aug. 2, 1938, at St. Peter’s Church. He died in 1980.
Mrs. Daley was a registered nurse at Rutland Hospital for many years, and retired in 1984. Since then, she spent winters in Florida.
She was a member of the Rutland County Nurses Association, the Rutland Retired Nurse Association, member and past officer of the Italian Aid Society, which her father helped found. Mrs. Daley was a 26-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #87 of West Rutland, and a member of St. Bridget’s Church and the Sodality.
She enjoyed her family, Bingo, traveling and flowers.
Survivors include a daughter, Noreen Duby of Rutland; three sons, Henry J. Daley of Benson, Thomas W. Daley of Westfield, Mass. and Richard F. Daley of West Rutland; a sister, Gina Bove of Rutland; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A son, James P. Daley, died in 1996; and two brothers, Julius Ravenna and Sylvio “Zip” Ravenna, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bridget’s Church in West Rutland.

Ivan Johnson
ORWELL - Ivan Evard Johnson, 86, died June 28, 2001, at his home in Orwell.
He was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Sherburne, the son of Rueben M. and Dora E. (LaPoint) Johnson. He attended school in Tinmouth and Rutland High School.
He married Dorothy Ann (Gale) Johnson of Aug. 7, 1938, in Ludlow.
Mr. Johnson moved to Orwell in 1989 from Silver City, N.M. He farmed and drove trucks for Hood Co. and St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. While living in Deadwood, S.D., he operated a cattle ranch.
Survivors include his wife of Orwell; two daughters, Edith Ballard of Shoreham and Katherine Laframboise of Moriah, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, Iver Johnson; and two sisters, Izah Martin and Iris Blanchard; are deceased.
Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tinmouth Cemetery.
There are no public calling hours.

GOSHEN - Graveside committal services for Carolyn “Cudgie” Ferris Melanson, 51, who died Dec. 20, 2001, were held Saturday at the Mountain View Cemetery in Moretown. The Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon was in charge of arrangements.
Roy Moss
RUTLAND - Roy Moss, 94, died June 29, 2001, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Rutland. Arrangements are pending at the Clifford Funeral Home.
Coulman Westcott Jr.
BOMOSEEN - Graveside services for Coulman Westcott Jr., 78, who died March 1, 2001, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fair Haven. The Rev. Russ Gates of Proctor will officiate. The Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven is in charge of arrangements.
Jason Tuscano
BOMOSEEN — Jason Tuscano, 19, died July 10, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 22, 1982, in Middlebury, son of James and Linda (DeFeo) Tuscano.
He graduated from Fair Haven Union High School in 2000 and had completed his freshman year at Plymouth State College.
He was a Vermont State wrestling champion in 1998 at Fair Haven High School.
Mr. Tuscano enjoyed snowboarding, wakeboarding and hiking. He also enjoyed construction, landscaping and design, and often worked with his father at Tuscano Construction Co.
Survivors include his parents of Lake Bomoseen; a brother, Matthew Tuscano of Lake Bomoseen; maternal grandparents, Gaetano and Aida DeFeo of Trumbull, Conn.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Castleton with the Rev. J. Charles Durham, pastor, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

Margaret J. Rockwell
DANBY — The funeral service for Margaret Jesse Rockwell, 75, who died July 11, 2001, will be held Saturday at the Aldous Funeral Home in Rut-land. Burial will follow in Pleas-ant View Ceme-tery in Randolph.
She was born June 18, 1926, in Winhall Hollow, daughter of Harry J. and Ruth C. (Ross) Shattuck.
She attended Winhall grade school and Chester High School.
She married Milo G. Rockwell Sr. on Jan. 13, 1944, in South Wallingford.
Mrs. Rockwell enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Caroline J. Anderson of North Clarendon; four sons, Milo G. Rockwell Jr. and Harry L. Rockwell, both of Wallingford, Clayton J. Rockwell of North Clarendon and Curtis E. Rockwell of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Eunice “Sue” Squires of Arlington and Lilla Hall of Jamaica; four brothers, William “Bill” Shattuck of Manchester Center, Harold Shattuck of Hampton, N.Y., and Henry Shattuck and Robert Shattuck, both of Bondville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Phyllis F. Rockwell; two sisters; and three brothers.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St., Rutland.

Margarita H. Button
NORTH HERO — Margarita H. Button, 90, of North Hero, died July 3, 2001, in Buenos Aires after a brief illness.
Mrs. Button was a member of the Colony Club and City Gardens Club of New York.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Judith Button Keyes; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William H. Button Jr. in 1982; and a stepson, William H. Button III in 1999.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, in Button Cemetery in Clarendon.

FAIR HAVEN — The funeral service for Clayton Allen Jones Sr., 57, who died July 9, 2001, was held Wednesday at Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven with the Rev. John Wood, pastor of First Baptist Church of Fair Haven, officiating. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place at a later date.

Louis Denis rites
BRANDON — The funeral Mass for Louis Denis, 74, who died July 8, 2001, was celebrated Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon with the Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor, as celebrant. Deacon Gary Griffin assisted. A private graveside committal service and burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Organist was Bonnie Johnson of Leicester. A special poem was shared by Jules Denis, Mr. Denis’ brother.
The family received friends at the church parish hall for a time of fellowship and reflection after the committal service.

Norma L. Norton rites
BRANDON — A private graveside committal service and burial for Norma L. Norton, 74, who died May 8, 2001, was held Thursday, concurrently with the burial of her partner in life, Louis Denis, who died July 8, 2001. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, assisted by Deacon Gary Griffin, officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Bryon E. Lane
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Sgt. Bryon E. Lane, 26, died July 9, 2001, in New River, N.C., while on maneuvers with the U.S. Marines Corps.
He was born Aug. 1, 1974, in Berlin, son of Edward G. and Carol L. (Zeh) Lane.
He graduated from Hartford High School in 1992, where he played baseball and hockey and was co-captain of the football team. He was senior class president, member of the National Honor Society and attended Boys State. He attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y.
Mr. Lane enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1995, received training as a crew chief and helicopter mechanic and was then stationed in El Toro, Calif. He was later transferred to Marine Helicopter Squadron One in Quantico, Va., was designated as a qualified plane captain for the CH-46E and was later transferred to HMM 365, MCAS New River, N.C.
Sgt. Lane earned the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd Award), Good Conduct (2nd Award), National Defense Medal, Meritorious Mast (3rd Award), and a letter of appreciation during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hanover, N.H.
He enjoyed hiking, fishing and refinishing furniture.
Survivors include his parents of White River Junction; his sister, Bethany Lane of Montpelier; a paternal grandfather, Edward L. Lane Jr. of Montpelier; his fiancée, Sara Patch of Medford, Mass.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hanover, N.H. Burial will follow in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction.
