Ann Devoe
BELLOWS FALLS — Ann Devoe, 71, died June 12, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Rose Haskell.
She was born Oct 16, 1929, in Bayonne, N.J., daughter of John and Rose (Bradley) Ryan.
She attended school in Bayonne and received her GED from Bellows Falls Union High School in Westminster in 1972.
She married William Devoe in 1948 in Bayonne. He died in 1998.
Mrs. Devoe along with her husband owned and operated Doogillary Pizza in Bellows Falls. After retirement from the pizza shop she taught adult basic education in the Bellows Falls area for 10 years.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 37 Auxiliary in Bellows Falls and St. Charles Church. She was also a volunteer tutor at Parks Place in Bellows Falls.
She was an avid reader.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Devoe of Brooklyn, N.Y., William Devoe of Springfield and Steven Devoe of Highland, N.Y.; two daughters, Kathleen Redmond and Rose Haskell, both of Bellows Falls; a brother, Jack Ryan of Haines City, Fla.; a sister, Mary Jo Meagher of Freehold, N.J.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Cleaver.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls with the Rev. Brian Mead at celebrant. Burial will follow cremation in the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, 1 Hospital Court, Bellows Falls, 05101.

Marion A. Wilder
WESTMINSTER — Marion A. Wilder, 87, died June 13, 2001, at Springfield Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Ansonia, Conn., daughter of Hayes W. and Adelaid (Parker) Hubbell.
She attended schools in Middletown, Conn.
Mrs. Wilder was employed by the Kurn Hattin Homes for Mr. Mayo and Connecticut Valley Orchards, both in Westminster. She was also a receptionist for Dr. Tucker Burr, a veterinarian in Walpole, N.H.
Survivors include a son, William E. Wilder Sr. of Westminster; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Wilder, in 1969; a daughter, Marion L. Wilder, in 1994; and a granddaughter in 2001.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in New Westminster Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Reginald A. Smith
CHARLESTOWN, N.H. — Reginald Allen Smith, 40, died June 12, 2001, at his apartment.
He was born Feb. 11, 1961, in Springfield, Vt., son of Reginald H. and Pauline R. (Fish) Smith.
He graduated from Fall Mountain Regional High School in 1980.
Mr. Smith worked as a machine operator for G.S. Precision in Brattleboro, Vt., for 10 years, and for the past year had worked in maintenance for West Central Behavioral Health-Dartmouth Hitchcock of Claremont.
He enjoyed listening to his stereo, fishing and going to the races at Claremont Speedway.
Survivors include his father of Charlestown; his mother, Pauline Mitchell of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a sister, Robin A. Wright of Keene; two nieces; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Charlestown Congregational Church with the Rev. Cynthia J. Batten, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main St.

Leon F. Young Jr. rites
ORFORD, N.H. — Graveside funeral services for Leon Francis Young Jr., who died June 8, 2001, were held Tuesday in Highland Cemetery in Lyme with the Rev. Gail Dimick officiating.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2571 of White River Junction, Vt., and the James H. Young American Legion Post 80 of Lyme provided military honors. Shaun O’Keefe, commander, presented the flag to Mr. Young’s son, James.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hale Funeral Homes of Bradford and Thetford, Vt.
Nellie Preseau rites
MIDDLEBURY — The funeral Mass for Nellie Preseau, who died June 10, 2001, was held Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury with the Rev. Lance Harlow as celebrant. Burial and committal services followed in St. Genevieve’s Cemetery in Shoreham.
Organist was Kevin Parizo.
Pallbearers were Bob Hall, Edmund Ouellette, Ed Preseau, Fred Davis, Raymond Ouellette and Mike Moore.
The Fair Haven Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Post 3907 provided the prayer service Tuesday evening.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service.
Albert L. Ransom
Albert L. Ransom, 69, of Rutland, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He was born August 10, 1931, in Rutland, son of Lemuel Albert and Frances (Davis) Ransom.
Mr. Ransom graduated from Middlebury High School in 1949, and attended Northeastern University.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a decoder during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Ransom was a self-employed carpenter and builder in Rutland.
He was a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ. Mr. Ransom was a member of the Crown Point Road Association and served as archivist and historian, and was working on the Crown Point Road Preservation.
He was a longtime RAHA hockey coach.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (Norton) Ransom of Rutland; three daughters, Dawn, her husband, Mike, and their family, Matthew, Becky and Laura of Rutland, Jody, her husband, Kevin, and their family, Dylan and Shane of West Newbury, Mass., and Linda Ransom; a sister, Loraine Ormond of Edison, N.J.; a brother, Donald Ransom and his wife, Barbara of Blairsville, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, David Ransom.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. in Grace Congregational United Church of Christ with the Reverend Amelia C. Pitton, associate pastor, officiating.

Raymond F. Ravenna
WEST RUTLAND — Raymond Francis Ravenna, 72, died June 13, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Junction after a brief illness.
He was born July 12, 1928, in Proctor, son of Geno and Aileen (Anderson) Ravenna.
He graduated from West Rutland High School in 1946.
Mr. Ravenna was employed as an administrative clerk at Allegheny Ludlam Co. in Wallingford.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations.
Mr. Ravenna received many achievement awards at Rutland Regional Medical Center for his commitment to physical therapy.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rutland, American Legion Post 87 in West Rutland, Eastern Star Masonic Lodge and Italian Aid Society.
Survivors include two sisters, Noreen Goepel of West Rutland and Janet Menard of Fresno, Calif.; four nieces; and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard D. Ravenna.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hillside Road, Rutland. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland.
Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral in West Rutland.

Ruth E. Janson rites
PITTSFORD — The funeral service for Ruth E. Janson, 87, who died June 10, 2001, was held Thursday at the Pittsford Congregational Church with the Rev. Russ Gates, pastor of the Union Church of Proctor, officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
Organist was Bonnie Johnson and soloist was Marcia Bishop.
Special memories were offered by Kacie Winston and special memories from friends were read by the Rev. Gates.
Bearers were Scott Bishop, Keith Bishop, Wayne Winston, Zack Winston, Peter Freeborn and David Barnard.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.
Stephen J. Milenac rites
BOMOSEEN — The funeral Mass for Stephen J. Milenac, 71, who died June 10, 2001, was celebrated Thursday at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven with the Rev. Richard W. Tinney, parish priest, officiating. Burial followed in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center with full military honors provided by U.S. Marines from various Marine Corps leagues.
Organist was Nancy Wetherby and soloist was Richard Frazier.
Reader was Sharon Boehmer.
Ministers of the altar were Walter Dorion, Clem Levesque and Dominic Amerio.
The Christian wake service was held Wednesday evening at the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven by the Rev. Tinney. An honor guard was provided during the visiting hours by members of the U.S. Marine Corps League of Rutland. Crippen Fellows Post 50, American Legion of Castleton, conducted a military service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
David R. Rice
WINDSOR — David Rollin Rice, 39, died June 12, 2001, at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Hospice Center in Windsor after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 9, 1961, in Windsor, son of Rollin M. and Carol (Sargent) Rice.
He received his education in Windsor, graduating from Windsor High School in 1979.
Mr. Rice married Gina A. Gray on Oct. 5, 1985, in Hartland.
He was employed as a supervisor for C&S Wholesalers in White River Junction for several years until he was unable to work due to health reasons.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his parents of Windsor; his paternal grandmother, Margaret “Mutt” Rice of Canterbury, N.H.; his wife of Lebanon, N.H.; two sons, Jason G. Rice and Joel M. Rice, both of Lebanon; a daughter, Jillian A. Rice of Lebanon; a brother, Michael T. Rice of Windsor; an uncle; two nieces; and several cousins.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the Old South Congregational Church in Windsor with the Rev. Amanda Lape-Freeberg, pastor, officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
