Christine E. Walker
BREWSTER, Mass. — Christine E. (Wright) Walker, 96, died June 10, 2001, at the EPOCH Senior Health Care of Brewster, Mass., where she had resided for the past six years.
She was born in Williamstown, Vt.
She graduated from Northfield High School and attended the University of Vermont. She then settled in Windsor, Conn., for many years.
Mrs. Walker had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. She was also an active member of the First Congregational Church of Windsor, Conn., and its Women’s Club.
She enjoyed painting, gardening, ceramics and fine needlework.
Mrs. Walker and her husband retired to Woodstock, Vt., in the early 1960s.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Walker Osborne of Windsor, Conn.; a son, Wayne Walker of Eastham, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Walker; and a son, Robert J. Walker, who died in 1973.
The graveside service will be held in Rochester, Vt., at a later date.

Ruth C. Simpson
BELLOWS FALLS — Ruth C. Simpson, 70, died June 12, 2001, at Springfield Hospital.
She was born June 12, 1931, in Post Mills, daughter of Harry and Carrie (Lamphere) Chaplin.
She attended school in Chester.
Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and worked at the Texas Nursing home and Rockingham Hotel, both in Bellows Falls, and Green Box Co., in North Walpole, N.H.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Alstead, N.H.
Survivors include three sons, John Simpson of North Walpole, N.H., Jerry Simpson of California and Harold Simpson Jr.; three daughters, Cynthia Burnham and Georgina Thomas, both of Bellows Falls, and Roxanna Hicks of Charlestown, N.H.; 25 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Simpson Sr.; three daughters, Sandra Mack, Donna Frenett and Gloria Simpson; a brother, Clifford Chaplin; a sister, Jeannette Hoague; and a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls with the Rev. Russell Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Walpole Cemetery in Walpole, N.H.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

Heinz H. Siewert
CAVENDISH — The memorial service for Heinz H. Siewert, who died Dec. 6, 2000, will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Mr. Siewert’s residence at 55 Knapp Brook Road in Cavendish. This memorial will be conducted by Mr. Siewert’s longtime friend, James Hasson. All those who knew Mr. Siewert are welcome to attend.
Florence B. Aiken rites
SPRINGFIELD — The funeral service for Florence B. Aiken, 98, who died June 9, 2001, was held Tuesday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield with the Rev. Earl Bishop of Andover officiating. Burial followed in Williamsville Cemetery in Newfane.
Bearers were Victor Matulonis and Paul Ferguson, both of Springfield, Dan Pelkey and Dale Aiken, both of Charlestown, N.H., John O’Neil of Claremont, N.H., and Clyde Stockman of Baltimore.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Lucy A. Thibodeau rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral Mass for Lucy A. Thibodeau, who died June 7, 2001, was held Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington with the Rev. Robert J. Baffa, pastor, and the Rev. Michael A. Demasi as celebrants. Burial followed in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Scriptural readings were offered by Dawn Harrington and Melissa Spiezio, granddaughters. Prayer petitions were written and read by Cori Crossman. The eulogy was offered by Alberta Harrington and Dawn Mack, daughters.
Bearers were nephews Arthur Boulet, Gary Boulet, Joseph Thibodeau, Norman White, Mark White and Jeff White. Honorary bearers were members of St. John’s Sodality, Betty Becker, Susan Harrington, Mary Harrington, Eileen Flynn and Lucille Austin.
A prayer service was held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home prior to the funeral Mass.
The vigil service was offered Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Demasi.
Members of the Bennington Fire Department, where Mrs. Thibodeau was a longtime member, met at the funeral home Sunday evening to pay their respects.

Glenn W. Hebert rites
BENNINGTON — The funeral service for Glenn W. Hebert, who died June 9, 2001, was held Tuesday at Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. Kelley, associate pastor of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, officiating. Burial followed in White Chapel Cemetery.
Words of remembrance were offered by JoAnn Foster, a granddaughter.
The American Legion Post 13 provided military honors. Tom Foster presented the flag to Mr. Hebert’s daughter, JoAnn Sausville. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt.
Bearers were Tony Hebert, Glenn Hebert, Carlin Hebert, Brian Hewitt, Michael Rupprecht, Tom Foster and Jamie Balance. Honorary bearers were JoAnn Foster, Dawn Hewitt, Renee Hebert Amy Hebert, Stacy Hebert, Nicole Rupprecht and Jessica Rupprecht.
A reception for friends and family was held at the Beach Street Firehouse following the committal service.
Members of Company I, 172nd Infantry, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1332, American Legion Post 13 and members of Putnam Hose of the Bennington Fire Department attended the calling hours Monday evening.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Jacklyn Brooks
Jacklyn “Jacky” Brooks, 55, of Rutland died June 13, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. She was under the care of the RRMC Community Cancer Center’s personnel for two years.
She was born Jan. 13, 1946, in Ottawa, Ill., daughter of Marguerite D. Brooks and John R. Brooks.
Survivors include her parents of Rutland; Nancy Stewart, Judith Brooks, Marguerite N. Brooks; and nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cancer Center, RRMC, 160 Allen St., Rutland, 05701.

Harry N. Winters
POULTNEY — Harry Nelson Winters, 90, died June 13, 2001, at Indian River Nursing Home in Granville, N.Y.
He was born April 30, 1911, in East Poultney, son of William and Mabel (VanGuilder) Winters.
He was employed by the Telescope Casual Furniture Co. in Granville, N.Y., for many years, retiring in 1974.
Mr. Winters was a longtime member of the Young At Heart Club in Poultney.
He enjoyed playing cards and bingo, gardening and biking.
Survivors include two daughters, Janis Richardson of Sylvan Beach, N.Y., and Nancy Parker, with whom he made his home, of Poultney; a son, William Winters of Queensbury, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gretchen (Williams) Winters, in 1992; a grandson; and two brothers, William Winters and Henry Winters.
The graveside memorial service will be held in Poultney at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home of Poultney.
Roy E. Carpenter
The graveside committal service for Roy E. Carpenter, 82, of Rutland, who died April 3, 2001, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. Bruce A. Bishop, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Tossing Funeral Home.
Phyllis Wilder
The graveside service for Phyllis Jean (Whitmore) Wilder, 73, of Rutland, who died March 27, 2001, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
Charles J. Blodgett
SOUTH RYEGATE — Charles J. Blodgett, 48, died June 8, 2001, at Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.
He was born Sept. 24, 1952, in Worcester, Mass., son of Norman Stack and Wanda (Prostak) Blodgett.
He attended schools in Westboro, Mass., and graduated from St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Mass. He also attended Southeastern Massachusetts University and the University of Monterey in California, receiving his doctor of chiropractics degree.
Mr. Blodgett was a chiropractor and healer and martial arts expert and teacher. He owned and operated a martial arts school in Bradford.
Survivors include five brothers, Thomas Blodgett of Auburn, Mass., Gerry Blodgett and David Blodgett of Worcester, Mass., James Blodgett of Rockdale, Mass., and William Blodgett of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Spirit of Health in Royalton where Mr. Blodgett was a chiropractor.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hale Funeral Home of Bradford.
Donna M. Derby-Pierce
PERKINSVILLE — Donna M. Derby-Pierce, 43, died June 12, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
She was born April 28, 1958, in Halifax, daughter of Eloise Joines Derby.
She received her education in Halifax and Whitingham schools.
She married Vernon Pierce in 1987 in Halifax. They resided in Perkinsville and later Windsor.
Mrs. Derby-Pierce was employed as a housekeeper at the Canterbury House in Woodstock.
She enjoyed tag sales, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Reece Pierce and Corey Pierce, both of Perkinsville; three brothers, Leonard Derby of Halifax, Brent Booker of Springfield and Eugene Booker of Spring City, Tenn.; two sisters, Emma Lazelle of Halifax and Beverly Booker of Barre; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and several aunts and uncles.
She was predeceased by her stepfather, Alton Booker; and an infant brother, Tony Booker.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home, 44 E. Main St., Wilmington, with the Rev. Mark Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in Hatch Cemetery in Halifax.
There will be no calling hours.

David R. Rice
WINDSOR — David R. Rice, 39, died June 12, 2001, at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor after a long illness.
